Filming Hellboy II: The Golden Army was no sweat for actress Selma Blair – she was one of the only stars on set who didn’t wear extensive prosthetics.

The big screen adaptation of the comic book required actors to spend hours in the make-up chair being fitted with heavy make-up and latex prosthetics to play mythical creatures.

But Blair, who plays character Liz Sherman, couldn’t help but taunt her fellow cast members about her simple wardrobe.

She says, “I (was) very naughty in that department. On the hottest days, when the other actors (couldn’t) breathe in their makeup, I breeze in and say how sweaty I feel in my cotton tank top. It’s just as well (Hellboy actor) Ron Perlman is my next-door neighbor in real life and knows my sense of humor.”

Actress Selma Blair has resigned herself to a career of supporting roles, because she says that she doesn’t have “the face” of a leading lady. She admits that her physical attributes fail to meet Hollywood’s high standards, insisting that she would have fared better in the less discriminatory European film industry.

She says, “Maybe in Europe, I’d be like Samantha Morton or Charlotte Gainsbourg, but I didn’t choose my quirky career – it chose me.”

She added, “I don’t have the face to constantly radiate leading lady energy. There is only one Reese Witherspoon. There is only one Julia Roberts. “I don’t fit that mold. And you know what else? I don’t want to.”

Selma Blair is saying that she now regrets chopping off her long hair because she is regularly mistaken for Tom Cruise. She currently sports a chopped brunette bob and says that she’s fed up with being likened to the Scientology weirdo.

She didn’t say that last part, but she is fed up with being mistaken for Tom. She says, “I had long hair for a while. Almost down to my waist, but I wanted to go back to my Tom Cruise cut. I told my hairdresser to shave the back and leave the front long.”

She added that someone then thought she was Tom Cruise from the back. She then said she guesses she’d better wear heels.

I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t want to be mistaken for any man, let alone Tom Cruise.

Selma Blair is once again on the market. She is telling people that she is now single! Apparently, her and her boyfriend, Matthew Felker, who is best known for kissing Britney Spears in the “Toxic” video, split “a while ago.”

The star tells People magazine it happened “While I was in Budapest [filming Hellboy 2].” The two met through mutual friends and they dated for awhile after Selma’s divorce from Ahmet Zappa in November 2006.

“I’ve just been reconnecting with my friends,” Blair says of life post-boyfriend.

What does Selma want in a new man?  “I want someone who makes me feel good,” she said, adding with a sly smile, “if you know what I mean.”

Selma Blair’s new pixie hairstyle was so drastic when she first chopped her long locks off, people mistook her for a hospital patient. The 34-year-old actress had a dramatic makeover after divorcing Ahmet Zappa in November and ended up shaving her head into a super-short platinum blonde cut.

Blair claims her newly-shaved head made people think she was suffering from a serious illness. She says, “People think I’ve had brain surgery! I went nuts with the hair. I wanted the old (supermodel) Linda Evangelista haircut from the George Michael video days, but I got a little carried away!”
