When Justin Timberlake, 25, was casting the femme fatale for his new $1 million video, “What Goes Around,” the singer – who was on the rocks with 34-year-old girlfriend Cameron Diaz — went after one actress: Scarlett Johansson. And Johansson readily agreed, an odd choice for the seasoned thespian who’s known for her careful film choices.

But not if you have a crush on the leading man, says a pal of Johansson.

“Scarlett has always liked Justin. They’ve always had a flirtation – that’s why Cameron was threatened by her.”

With good reason. The decision to cast the 20-year-old as the video vixen pushed Timberlake’s relationship with Diaz to the breaking point, and paved the way for Johansson to move in for the kill.

“She could not believe he went behind her back to put her in the video,” says a Timberlake pal. “Cameron was very jealous of Scarlett.”

Adds the source, “they definitely got together after she did the video.”

Indeed, sources in both stars’ inner circles tell Us the couple are in the beginning stages of a relationship and excited to get to know each other.

This is my favorite part of the cover…how funny is THAT!

 The singer gave heartbroken star Cameron the elbow out of the blue before the New Year and then met Scarlett who stars in the video for his upcoming single What Goes Around.

The two were working on the promo all last week — and have been spending a lot of time together off the set in Los Angeles. A source told me: “Things just didn’t work out between Justin and Cameron.

“They decided to part ways — but they didn’t tell anyone.

“He’s got a tour coming up this year and wanted to concentrate on that, but it seems he’s really hit it off with Scarlett while working on the video.”

On Wednesday, 2nd January, Scarlett was at the after-party for the premiere of Justin’s new movie, Alpha Dog, at Social Hollywood in LA.

Our source said: “She walked in keeping her head down. When she met Justin they looked very close and chatted away for ages.

“There were other people trying to speak to Justin but he kept his attention on her for around an hour. They looked very intimate.

“But he’s still trying to make it look low key—because he left with his mum Lynn later through a back exit.”

Justin, 25, was still with Cameron when he asked Scarlett to play the leading lady in the vid believed to be based on his relationship with Britney Spears.

And with their curly long blonde hair, big eyes and curvy figures, there are definite similarities between the two beauties.

Justin dated Britney for four years after they met on the Mickey Mouse Club TV show. But in March 2002 it ended abruptly when Brit was accused of cheating on him with her choreographer.

She may have half the men on the planet drooling after her figure, but American actress, Scarlett Johansson at times feels that she is overweight, and that she is never going to be thin.

The 22 year old` Lost In translation` actress who is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, insists that she feels fat, just like other girls of her age “I have fat days and accept that I`m never going to be real thin,” Hollywoodrag quoted her, as saying.

Johansson recently confessed that she does not always feel desirable and finds it difficult to live up to her glamorous image.”I know what I look like when I wake up in the morning after three hours sleep.

Sometimes I feel, `OK, this is a good day`, and other times I wake up and think, `Oh my God, I need a hat today,`” she added.

Despite her concerns, Scarlett is geared up to strip and show off her attractive body on the big screen.

“I`m not opposed to doing nudity, it would just have to be the right project, ” she said.

The 22-year-old actress refuses to open her windows when she lights up and the smoke is wafting into the hall of her apartment block and causing a stink with the fellow residents.

“The Black Dahlia” star has reportedly turned to the nasty nicotine habit in a bid to get through a rough patch with her actor boyfriend Josh Hartnett, who is currently shooting “30 Days of Night” in New Zealand.

A neighbor revealed to Life and Style Weekly magazine that when he confronted Scarlett about the smell, with an apartment supervisor in tow, she snapped: “Don’t you read the newspaper? I am going through a difficult time right now.”

The supervisor then suggested she just open the window slightly to avoid further disagreements, to which Scarlett retorted: “Sure, I’ll open the window, and that will fix everything.”

Scarlett is reportedly still reeling over recent allegations that Josh was spotted enjoying a weekend in Sydney with his co-star, New Zealand actress Amber Sainsbury, sparking more rumors their relationship is on the rocks.

Scarlett Johansson has denied claims that divalike demands cost her the lead role in a big-budget revival of “The Sound of Music,” a spokesman for the actress said Thursday.

Johansson, 21, had been targeted to play Maria von Trapp in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, set to open in London’s West End in November.

“Her people were not `pro’ the idea. It became clear that it wasn’t going to work because the demands were so ridiculous,” Lloyd Webber was quoted as saying in The Times newspaper.

He said Johansson’s representatives “couldn’t understand why she would want to appear in the West End for $18,500 a week when she could be earning $10 million for a movie.”
