Howard Stern says he is heartbroken his pals Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have called it quits.
The shock jock revealed on his radio show that he was supposed to vacation with the two this week, but they never showed.
“Jimmy e-mailed me and said they were going through some tough times,” Stern said. “I was so upset I had to go take a walk.”
Kimmel told Stern the split was “mutual,” adding that he felt like he had “lost his best friend.”
On Monday, the two announced they were splitting after five years.
Still, Silverman has some good news: She was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for her raunchy tune “I’m F—— Matt Damon.”
Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have ended their relationship after five years of dating.
“Jimmy and Sarah have and will have no further comment,” Kimmel’s rep Lewis Kay and Silverman’s rep Amy Zvi confirmed to PEOPLE in a joint statement.
The couple’s over-the-top videos about fictional flings with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck became huge Internet hits since airing on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February.
PEOPLE even named the late-night talk-show host and the star of Comedy Central’s The Sarah Silverman Program its Funniest Couple Alive earlier this year.
At the time Silverman, 37, told PEOPLE their relationship worked “because we really, really, really like each other. He’s kind and funny and maybe the most thoughtful person I know.”
“Sarah is funny and smart and good to look at,” said Kimmel, 40. “Plus, she likes fat guys. What more could I ask?”
Comedienne Sarah Silverman has vowed never to marry her longtime boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, because their relationship is perfect as it is.
The 27-year-old has been romantically involved with Kimmel, host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, since 2002 – but she insists she has no plans to wed any time soon.
She tells People.com, “I’ll be honest, we have it good. I don’t want the government involved in our love. When my friends get married I think it’s romantic, I cry, whatever. But it’s not for me.”
However, Silverman hasn’t ruled out having children: “I might adopt, but we’re going to wait. If you’re going to have kids, you need to have time to give them undivided attention.”
Jimmy Kimmel celebrated the fifth anniversary of his show Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, and to help him celebrate, his girlfriend Sarah Silverman made him a present.
The present? A music video, starring her and Matt Damon, where she sings, “I’m f—king Matt Damon … I’m not imagining it’s you.” It was the funniest thing I’ve ever heard her do. I’ve watched it several times now, it’s hilarious. It’s no wonder that it has become a hit on YouTube.
Jimmy Kimmel’s response?
“I hope they’re happy together!” he said in a statement.
