Sarah Jessica Parker only agreed to star in various advertising campaigns after Sex and the City ended, because she wasn’t happy with how much she had earned on the hit TV series.
Shortly before the show came to a finish in 2004, the actress became the face of both Nutrisse hair products and Lux soap. She also signed a lucrative deal with Gap to appear in the clothing company’s print ads and television commercials.
She explains, “The show wasn’t a big network series, so our salaries were never that great. When I started doing things like Gap commercials, it was for financial security.”

Sarah Jessica Parker earned $15 million for starring in and co-producing Sex and the City: The Movie, but the style guru still pinches pennies. The actress, who grew up poor, resells her swag! Sarah Jessica sends an assistant to NYC consignment shop Ina to drop off armloads of the freebies she receives, then collects a percentage of the profits. “She brings in bags full of brand-new, unworn clothes,” including Marc Jacobs purses and Fred Segal jeans, says an insider. And just like the lucky shoppers who snap up her low-cost handoffs, the frugal 43-year-old believes in a good bargain. The star, who often purchases secondhand items from the trendy SoHo boutique, has a discount fashion line, Bitten, featuring items that cost less than $10. “Sarah Jessica is a regular customer at Ina,” the insider reveals. Another insider confirms it: “She has been a very big fan of the store and sends a lot of her friends in, as well.” In 2004, Ina had a one-day Sex and the City sale, which featured the show’s wardrobe castoffs.

The cast of Sex and the City: The Movie were rocked by a security scare while they were visiting London to promote the new film - when a man sneaked into Kim Cattrall’s hotel suite.
Cattrall was conducting a press junket at the city’s prestigious Claridge’s Hotel along with castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis when a crazed fan, posing as a foreign journalist, reportedly sneaked past security.
The man managed to get through several security checks to access the floor where all four actresses were staying. He then found his way into Cattrall’s room, where he is said to have cornered her alone - frightening the actress with his “erratic behavior”.
A source tells London newspaper Metro, “He was alone in a room with Kim Cattrall and began pestering her for autographs. She was very flustered, and it was lucky someone walked in and spotted him as his behaviour was getting more and more erratic.
“Hotel staff ordered him to leave but he didn’t go quietly. They bundled him out as quietly as possible but Kim was pretty frightened. The other girls found out what had happened and were also freaked out. But they’re old pros and they didn’t let it affect their schedules.”

Sarah Jessica Parker has fallen out of favor with one fashion critic - her five-year-old son James hates her designer outfits.
The 43-year-old’s young tot hates to see the star dressed in glamorous gowns, because he connects Parker’s designer wares with her leaving the house to go to work.
And James gets so upset his mom has to leave him to fulfill her duties as a style icon, he demands she gets changed into something more conservative.
She explains, “He associates me in a big dress with me having to leave the house, and he associates my hair being up with me being at work. And he is verbal.
“Sometimes he will see me with a dress on and he will ask me to take it off because he thinks that will somehow keep me in the house.”

What was premier milliner Philip Treacy thinking when he designed that love-it-or-hate-it hat Sarah Jessica Parker wore to Monday night’s world premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie? “Well, his mother kept chickens and geese, so he loves feathers and manipulating feathers,” Treacy’s spokeswoman Nina Farnell-Watson explains to People.
Treacy was approached last week about making the hat — not, says Farnell-Watson, by film stylist Patricia Field but “by someone else.” He received photos of her Alexander McQueen dress and then met with the actress at her London hotel Sunday for about an hour. She tried on some different hat shapes and “found the one she loved,” says Farnell-Watson. Treacy then worked for two days straight and “very late into the night” trimming it with peacock feathers he got from McQueen. (They’re the same plumage used to trim her dress.)
Parker — who had no idea what Treacy was planning — first saw the finished hat about two hours before the premiere. “Quite brave of her,” notes Farnell-Watson. “It’s the most beautiful crazy hat and it’s so great that she wore a hat to a British premiere. The hat is such a quintessentially English idea, but it was done in such a Carrie Bradshaw way.” And yes, Parker gets to keep it.
