Samantha Ronson might be having second thoughts about her breakup with ex Lindsay Lohan — at least on Facebook.

After a tumultuous fight with Lohan on April 4, Ronson removed her “In a Relationship” status on the social networking site. Now, she updated her relationship message to “It’s Complicated.”

Her updated profile comes hours after Lindsay Lohan said that the two “are talking,” on Thursday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Up until then, the actress, 22, told Us she was in contact with Ronson via “just texts.”

Complicating things further?

Lohan said she plans to stay on her own for the time being.

“I’m not looking to be with anyone right now,” Lohan said Thursday. “I don’t need to deal with that. It gets too distracting from everything that I need to focus on. Leaving town, you miss someone too much and you don’t want to go sometimes, but I really care about Samantha and we’ll see what happens. Maybe when we’re fully in the right place… I love her.”

What’s more difficult than enduring a painful breakup in the public eye?

“When you don’t know you’re breaking up,” says Lindsay Lohan. “Really weird.”

The 22-year-old actress shared her ordeal with somebody who knows all about a high-profile breakup: Ellen DeGeneres, whose split with Anne Heche in 2000 dominated celebrity news.

In an Ellen DeGeneres show airing Thursday, Lohan tells the talk show host that the breakup with Samantha Ronson, 31, earlier this month “came out of nowhere.”

“I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn’t seen her in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared,” Lohan says.

Lohan didn’t discuss what may have led to it after a “really tough night” but denied infidelity was the cause. “I don’t believe in cheating on someone,” says Lohan.

DeGeneres said that after her own public breakup, “I kind of lost my career for a little while and I went away … and I literally hibernated and got myself back together.” She asked Lohan if she wanted to run away.

“I feel like I want to get my career back in shape,” she said, adding that being away from Ronson – and not dating anybody regularly right now – may be a positive step.

“You know when people are together so much it gets really difficult and you forget who you are because you’re more concerned about being with the other person,” said Lohan. “I think it’s been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasn’t been. My sister’s been here with me.”

And Lohan still holds hope that the split won’t be permanent. “I really care about Samantha and we’ll see what happens,” she says. “Maybe when we’re fully in the right place. And I love her.”

No more drama: That is Samantha Ronson’s philosophy, according to sources close to the celebrity deejay, who recently spilt from girlfriend Lindsay Lohan.

“Lindsay is extremely protective and jealous and needs an enormous amount of attention, and it’s stressful for the world to be watching them,” a source close to the Ronson family tells PEOPLE. In terms of the high-profile breakup, “[Samantha] takes it pretty good – she acts tougher than she is. She just wants the drama to end.”

Though Ronson’s family is hoping this latest split will be for good, the pair’s close social circle makes the separation that much more difficult, says the source. “Both Samantha and Lindsay could use a break and since there is so much crossover with their friends, it’s been hard. Samantha Ronson’s mother and sister asked Beverly Hills police how they could obtain a retraining order three days after Lindsay Lohan banned from a Ronson family event, Usmagazine.com exclusively reports.

“They were directed to the court to get a restraining order,” Beverly Hills Sgt. Nutall told Us on Monday.

The officer would not confirm the inquiry was about Lindsay but the drama between the tempestuous lovers crested this weekend after news spread that Samantha broke up with Lindsay.

At a party honoring Samantha’s sister, clothes designer Charlotte Ronson, at Bar Marmont on Friday security were told not to let Lindsay in if she showed.

Lindsay followed up the snub with Twitter postings disparging Samantha and Charlotte. With both families staying at the Chateau Marmont, the drama escalated with Lindsay trying to barge into Samantha’s brother’s room.

The locks on Samantha’s house were seen being changed today; three weeks ago a window was broken at her house during a fight between the two women.

Lindsay has told friends that Samantha’s family is behind their break-up.

She was shunned from the party and locked out of her love nest. Now, Lindsay Lohan exclusively tells E! News that reports of her breakup with Samantha Ronson are true: “We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.”

The decision was made Monday morning following a rather rough weekend. First, the 22-year-old was barred entry from a Ronson family party on Friday. Then a locksmith was seen paying a house call to Ronson’s abode, where Lohan had resided in recent months.

Still, as of Sunday, insiders insisted the pair had not broken up and blamed the latest drama on Ronson’s family members, who were supposedly engaged in a “smear campaign” to convince the DJ that Lohan was “an outcast and a bully, or a wacko.”

The couple’s tempestuous relationship dates back nearly a year (they reportedly celebrated their anniversary in January) and has survived constant rumors of rifts and splits that often proved false.

In fact, just last week, both Lohan and 31-year-old Ronson were refuting the latest round of breakup speculation.

While Lohan is said to be struggling with the breakup and holding out hope the two will get back together, Ronson seems in a better place, writing on her MySpace page today that “aura in pleasanton is very pleasant.”

As for what’s next for the newly single Lohan? She is logging time with her family in L.A. and, as she recently told E! News, on the hunt for more acting work.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson have split, a source tells Usmagazine.com.

“This time, Sam means it,” the source tells Us.

The couple — who first debuted their relationship in May 2008 at the Cannes Film Festival — got into a fight over the weekend at a party Samantha threw for her fashion-designer sister Charlotte Ronson at West Hollywood’s Bar Marmont.

“[Sam] told security to look out for Lindsay and block her from getting in,” a source tells Us. “Lindsay, of course…booked a room at [the hotel] Chateau and fully intended to crash the party and make a scene.”

Bouncers kept the 22-year-old from entering the party, another source tells Us.

“She was heartbroken, but Sam did not want Lindsay entering and causing a scene and ruining Charlotte’s night,” the source says.

A source close to Lohan, though, insists it was the Ronson family who stayed in a room below her at the Chateau Marmont and “blasted music and would not let Samantha leave the room to meet Lindsay.”

On her Twitter page, Lohan posted to Ronson: PLEASE leave me ALONE. and stop staying in the room below me, you’ve woken me and my mother up. go to bed. keep cheating u win.

In addition to accusing Ronson of cheating on her, Lohan also slammed her for badmouting her to People magazine.

Lohan disputes there was any drama, despite multiple sources, witnesses and her Twitter page telling Us otherwise.

“Oy vey. lol,” she told Us over email when asked about the fight and the breakup. “Not true. hahahaha.”

Lohan has denied split rumors in the past.

“We did not break up… Get your stories straight please,” she blogged on MySpace in January. “It’s really annoying to have all of your friends emailing you saying, I saw, I read, etc… Not True.”

In December’s Harper’s Bazaar, Lohan declared her love for the celeb deejay.

“She’s a wonderful person and I love her very much,” she said.

Lindsay Lohan spent Wednesday inside a Chateau Marmont penthouse suite — without her girlfriend Samantha Ronson. But while the duo has been recently dogged by breakup rumors and reports of fighting, Lohan warns the gossiprati not to jump to any hasty conclusions.

“Those rumors aren’t true,” Lohan told E! News exclusively from her hotel suite where she was doing promotional work for her new self-tanning mist Sevin Nyne. “We aren’t broken up.”

Hanging out with LiLo in her West Hollywood hotel room with Lohan was her sister Ali and mom Dina, who flew in from New York earlier this week to spend time with Lindsay, who has ust wrapped a two-day photo-shoot for Italian clothing line Fornarina. Also chilling with Lohan at the Chateau was good friend Natalie Portman, who swung by to check out Lindsay’s chemical-free tanner.

So, then, where was her gal pal Samantha? We’re told the DJ, who returned from a gig in Florida on Tuesday, was hanging out on Wednesday with her sister, designer Charlotte Ronson, who also is visiting LA for a work trip. “They’ve been spending time with their families and working,” says a source. “It’s normal and healthy to do that. That doesn’t mean they broke up!”
