British actor and director Sacha Baron Cohen performs for an outlandish photocall prior to the premiere of his film Bruno, at Publicis Champs Elysees on June 15, 2009 in Paris, France.
He’s already assaulted Eminem with his bare bottom, and now Sacha Baron Cohen — aka ‘Bruno’ — is going one step further by posing completely nude in the July issue of GQ Magazine. In the photo spread, ‘Bruno’ lives up to his gay Austrian reporter character’s hype, rocking a codpiece and little else while bouncing around with a football team. As for the actual interview, it’s part German and fully funny/R-rated.
Meet Brüno, the latest crazy creation of Sacha Baron Cohen, who puts his best cheeks forward in this poster for his new movie.
Playing a flamboyantly gay Austrian fashionista in a film so outrageous it was initially slapped with an NC-17 rating, Cohen takes on the world of haute couture in Brüno, his follow-up to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. The mockumentary opens July 10.
Has there been a force of nature that’s hit theaters in the way “Borat” did in the past three years? It was so unexpected. So unstoppable. So refreshing. Could Sacha Baron Cohen possibly have done it again? “Bruno” can’t possibly be what “Borat” was. After all, this time we know what to expect — anything and everything. Still, the first glimpse of “Bruno” is here and it’s hard to say it doesn’t deliver. What do you think?
PS: It’s a restricted trailer – so you’re going to have to put in your age or something like that.
Comic actor Sacha Baron Cohen may not have much to laugh about these days.
The “Borat” star, 36, has stalled his marriage to Australian actress Isla Fisher due to religious issues, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.
Cohen has been waiting for his fiance Fisher, 32, to convert to Judaism, a process which is taking longer than expected. After the birth of their daughter Olive last year, Fisher was supposed to have devoted time to studying the Torah and being a mom. But things have reportedly gone much slower than planned, in part, due to Fisher’s career.
Cohen’s mother is allegedly at odds with the Aussie beauty since she quickly returned to work after Olive’s birth and spent most of the summer filming “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” A source close to the family described their relationship as tense.
On the other hand, the “Ali G” actor has avoided trouble at home by focusing his energy on his new reality-based movie, “Bruno.” The same source reported that Baron Cohen is not worried about the strained relationship between his bride-to-be and mother and is “happy taking his time to get married the same way he was happy having a long engagement.”
Despite the current trials, sources say Fisher is devoted to sticking things out with Cohen and his mother for the long run.
Fisher’s publicist would not say whether the couple has set a date.
Sacha Baron Cohen has sparked outrage in Arkansas after hijacking a cage fighting contest with a display of gay kissing.
The Borat star infuriated fans at the Blue Collar Brawlin’ event when the participants stripped down to their underwear and kissed.
More than 1,600 spectators threw beer and chairs at the act.
It is believed the event was a stunt for Cohen’s new movie Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt.
Dwight Duncan, president of the Four States Fair Grounds which provided the venue said: “We had a contract for cage fighting. We were deceived.”
A spokesman for Cohen declined to say whether he was behind the prank.
The film has already sparked controversy – Cohen was criticized for setting up an Israeli analyst for an outrageous interview about conflicts in the Middle East.
