Looks like Katy Perry isn’t too upset about this whole divorce business!
The singer typically adds a smiley face to her signature, and oddly enough, she even included it on her divorce papers.
Perry, 27, and Brand, 36, reached a final divorce settlement this week, covering distribution of their property and all other issues.
As Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s brief marriage comes to a wrap, Katy can rest easy. Russell apparently doesn’t want any of her money, even though he’s entitled to nearly $20 million.
Russell’s lawyers filed final divorce papers on Tuesday, but the couple have to wait 6 months before a judge will sign off on it. Sources tell TMZ Russell and Katy did not sign a prenup (seriously, who does that anymore!?). Because there was no prenup, Russell is entitled to half of all Katy’s earnings during their 14-month marriage. Katy made a TON of money during that time (around $44 million) because she was at the height of her California Dreams tour.
But here’s the deal. As one source put it, “This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person).” He doesn’t want Katy’s money. He’s happy to walk away with the money he earned — which is far less than what Katy raked in.
Less than a month after filing divorce, rumors are swirling that Russell Brand has started dating and Katy Perry is not happy.
“She discovered through her friends,” an insider tells Usof how Perry found out about 36-year-old Brand’s wandering eye. “One of the women told a friend of hers and it got back to Katy.”
“He’s spoken terribly about Katy to them,” the source says of Brand, who has sought out one particular woman to “explore a relationship” with. “[Russell] told her he wanted her to move in with him after the divorce is final,” confirmed the insider.

Katy Perry has maintained a pretty low profile since splitting from her husband, Russell Brand, in December. She’s just now starting to pop back into the public eye. She’s scheduled to perform in Singapore, and she’ll also perform at a party hosted by Mark Cuban the night before Super Bowl.
According to US Weekly’s sources, Katy is scared sh*tless that Russell is planning on writing about their relationship in his upcoming book. I’ve not read his first two books, but from what I’ve heard about ‘Booky Wook 1 & 2′, he’s an incredibly candid writer, who holds nothing back. Yeah, that might freak me out too if he were my ex!

As multiple source confirm in the new Us Weekly, out now, her estranged husband Russell Brand didn’t simply blindside her with a Dec. 30 divorce filing; despite public denials from a rep, the British comic, 36, plans to cover all the nitty-gritty, sometimes ugly details of their failed 14-month marriage in an upcoming memoir.
“Katy is insulted and feels betrayed that Russell has treated her so poorly,” a pal to the “Firework” singer, 27, tells Us. “She will never forgive him. Ever.”
Although Perry is in panic mode regarding her ex’s memoir plans, she’s back to work on her ongoing concert tour, commercial shoots and more — and she’s taking pains to “limiting…interactions” with Brand, another source says.
“He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never knew him.”
I wonder if it’s true he really is a monster these days. The monster her people want us to believe he is, basically.
A new video has just surfaced of Russell Brand - promoting his upcoming college tour – and on the video, Brand removes his wedding ring.
The video was apparently done in November, so who knows if anything was going on between Katy and Russell at the time, or if the video is all in good fun. Either way – the video is spreading like wildfire online today.
It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact moment that a marriage unravels, but when it comes to Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s divorce, that moment was caught on tape. A video — although it be a jovial one — has emerged, showing Brand removing his wedding ring in November, a month before the couple officially announced their divorce.
In the video, Brand promotes a forthcoming American college tour, joking that he’s visiting a variety of universities to learn more about college culture in the U.S. The comedian also explains his interest in exploring sorority life — or what he calls “sex clubs for women” — at which point he slyly removes his wedding ring.
The video gives no serious indication that Brand is, in fact, having difficulties in his marriage, but it does offer quite a revelation now that he and Perry are officially divorcing. In the video, which Brand later posted on porn website Nudevista, he jokes that he is going to “place [his wedding ring] somewhere very, very safe for the next week.” But it turns out that the circular symbol of his marriage is going on much more than a week-long respite.
Since announcing their split, Perry, Brand’s soon-to-be ex-wife, has taken to Twitter to say that “no one speaks for me” when it comes to her failed marriage. And it looks like no one, not even himself, speaks for Brand either. The usually chatty Brit has fallen silent via his Twitter account.

Apparently Katy’s parents decided to talk about their daughter’s divorce – in the church they run. A church that the Daily Mail reports is unusually packed these days!
Katy Perry’s religious parents have managed to see something positive in the breakdown of their daughter’s one year marriage. The pair spoke about their daughter’s divorce for the first time – from the pulpit of their evangelical church, which was unusually packed it seems.
Pastors Keith and Mary Hudson were seen taking to the stage to speak out about their famous daughter and the audience appeared captivated. The ministers suggested her split with Russell Brand was a gift sent by God – to help them fill churches.
Mary, 63, preached to the Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio: “I’m sure that Katy’s trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight. I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”
Mary was dressed in an all black ensemble with over the knee bots and a black jumper which she accessorised with a chunky silver necklace. She and husband Keith, 63, billed themselves as “Katy Perry’s parents” in marketing materials for the event, reported CNN. They spoke for about 90 minutes to 300 worshippers in the first service since Katy’s split with the comedian on Friday. A video was shown before the Hudsons took the stage in Ohio showed them at award shows with Katy.
Keith told the crowd he converted from a drug user to a Christian when he was 24 years old. He added that his daughter’s success had helped the couple share their beliefs with Hollywood superstars. “What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.
“I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you. I believe in God, for every one of my children.”
I think it’s sooooooooo disgusting that Katy’s parents are profiting off of their daughter – especially in the name of religion. It makes my stomach sick. It’s one thing for it to be common knowledge that they’re Katy’s parents. It’s something entirely different to profit off the fact by calling yourself “Katy Perry’s parents” in marketing materials.

There have been numerous reports that Russell Brand and estranged wife Katy Perry hung up the honeymoon period of their relationship around…well…their honeymoon, and even with the rumors that the couple were endlessly fighting and behaving immaturely, friends still say they didn’t see this split coming.
“I was shocked when I found out,” a source who knows the couple tells PEOPLE. “I was really surprised that Russell filed for divorce so quickly – especially at Christmas time.”
“I thought they would be together for a long time. Maybe not forever – but definitely not just 14 months.”
“They were always laughing. They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love.”
