Though it’s known Katy Perry and Russell Brand didn’t have the smoothest of divorces,  Brand has nothing but lovely things to say about Katy at his thursday appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. 

“I still love her as a human being,” Brand said. “But, sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.” He went on to say that he was very happy to be married to Katy, because “she’s such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.”

Still, when asked about their breakup, Brand said: “You can’t absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life. Sometimes thing are just different and then you to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and each other with any situation.”

Very nice!  Both are rebounding, but I hope Brand’s words are truth and not just for the cameras.

Russell Brand has signed on to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards!

The 36-year-old has hosted before, for the MTV Music Video Awards in 2008 and 2009. “This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than `The Avengers,’ and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” Brand said Thursday.

Brand has a new movie coming out, ‘Rock of Ages’, which hits theaters next month. This will be his first time hosting the movie awards.

Executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, who worked with Brand on the VMAs, calls the actor-comedian “such a brilliant talent.”

“He brings the funny but he also has that rock `n’ roll aesthetic,” he said.

The top contenders at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards are “The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids,” which have eight nominations each, including bids for best cast, breakthrough performance and movie of the year. The show also includes offbeat categories such as best kiss, best fight, and best on-screen dirtbag. Fans can select the winners by casting votes online.

Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg are among the stars set to appear at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which will be presented June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., and broadcast live on MTV.

In other Russell news, I’ve been seeing more and more reports lately that he really regrets dumping ex-wife Katy Perry, and some sources claim he sees it as the “biggest mistake of his life”.

Does Russell Brand want a second chance with Katy Perry?

In this week’s issue, the Italian tabloid alleges that Brand sent his ex-wife an emotional email in the hopes of reconciling. According to the Daily Mail,Brand told Perry that divorcing after 14 months of marriage was a “mistake.”

So what triggered Brand’s reported change of heart? Seeing photos of the 27-year-old popstar cozying up to “Florence and the Machine” gutarist Robert Ackroyd at last month’s Coachella Music Festival, an unnamed source told the tabloid.

Brand, 36, filed for divorce in December 2011, just 14 months after he wed the singer.

Even if he does think it was the biggest mistake of his life, I hope he doesn’t even go there. Not that I actually know what happened, but he sure came off like a creep during the whole thing. I mean c’mon, Katy’s song “Piece of Me” kind of sums the whole thing up, doesn’t it?

Sources close to Katy Perry say that she misses ex-husband Russell Brand!

“Katy’s been trying to get him back!” a friend tells  Us Weekly of “Part of Me” singer, 27. “She’s a lost soul right now.”

What may have stirred up this nostalgia? In early April,  Perry took a solo trip to India, the same country where she wed Brand, 36, in a lavish 2010 ceremony.  That may have something to do with it, but I’m sure the series of Brand’s flings post-divorce also made her miss being his #1.

Still, a reconciliation seems like a long shot.  “Right now, Katy and Russell are trying to get to the point where they can at least be friends,” says a friend of Perry’s.

Russell Brand has been arrested, after allegedly grabbing a paprazzi’s cell phone and throwing it through the window of a New Orleans law firm.

Russell turned himself in about an hour ago, and is currently in police custody. Apparently this is his mug shot above (what kind of mug shot is that?).

TMZ broke the story … Russell got pissed Monday night, after a photog began taking pictures on his iPhone. Russell allegedly took the cell phone and hurled it through the window of a law office.

The photog got the phone back and Russell agreed to pay for the window, but that didn’t satisfy cops and prosecutors. A warrant was issued for Russell’s arrest.

Russell Brand is in trouble with the law this morning, after New Orleans police have issued a warrant for his arrest!

New Orleans police tell TMZ a misdemeanor warrant was issued last night, for criminal damage to property. The warrant follows Brand’s run-in with a paparazzi on Monday which ended with Brand throwing an iPhone through a window.

Apparently Brand grabbed the photographer’s iPhone, and tossed it through the window of a nearby law firm.

As TMZ first reported … people connected to Brand contacted the law firm and said the actor would be willing to pay for the damage to the window.

Russell is still in New Orleans filming a movie. We contacted a rep for the production … who refused to comment on the warrant.

Sounds like someone’s got a bit of a temper problem!

Newly single comedian Russell Brand was spotted in New Orleans doing some antiquing with a lady friend.  Russell stopped and posed for photos with fans and signed autographs before heading off on their rented bicycles.
