The trailer you’ve been waiting for is finally here!

The trailer for David Fincher’s new movie, ‘Gone Girl,’ is FINALLY here! It looks creepy and dark and like absolute perfection!

“I did not kill my wife,” Ben Affleck’s character Nick Dunne says in the trailer. The trailer makes me VERY excited for the movie – who’s with me?

David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling thriller is due out later this year, and 20th Century Fox released the film’s first teaser on Monday. It’s a great one, filled with the sterilized images that fans have come to expect from Fincher, what appears to be a top-notch performance from Affleck (he even sells wearing a Mets hat) and the best-ever usage of “She,” here covered by Richard Butler. (Sorry, “Notting Hill.”) The only issue? The briefest of glimpses at the title character, Rosamund Pike’s Amy Dunne. Despite that, Pike still makes an impact here, something that portends to her forthcoming breakout.

“Gone Girl” is out in theaters on Oct. 3.

I can’t believe we have to wait till October to see it!!

I know I may be in the minority here, but I HATED the way the book ended. I heard rumors that Fincher changed the ending of the movie – and I’m hoping that’s true. Are you excited!?

They heard me! ‘Gone Girl’ ending will be different in the movie than it was in the book!

This is the best news I’ve heard all week!

Earlier this week I posted the cover David Fincher shot for Entertainment Weekly, showing Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in character for the upcoming ‘Gone Girl’ movie. I am SO excited to see the movie – because I came THIS CLOSE to loving the book. The ending ruined the book for me. I did like the book – and I couldn’t put it down….but the ending made me furious. Looks like I’m not alone, because it’s just been announced that the ending of the movie WILL NOT be the same as it was in the book.

David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” is on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly print edition, and inside the magazine is a juicy tidbit about what author Gillian Flynn has in mind for the film adaptation’s ending: something totally different from the ending of her book.

“Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it. He would say, ‘This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch,'” Flynn, who wrote the script for “Gone Girl,” told EW (transcript via The Dissolve).

“Gone Girl,” which is due in theaters on Oct. 3, follows what happens when Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, leaving her husband, Nick (Affleck), as the prime suspect in her disappearance. Only nothing is that simple and “Gone Girl” includes a surfeit of twists and turns that left many readers excited and infuriated. (Vanity Fair writer Julie Miller broke down the book’s ending, and why a different finale in the film could be beneficial.)

What do you think about the change-up?

David Fincher releases first look at Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in ‘Gone Girl’

Entertainment Weekly has gotten the exclusive first look at David Fincher’s new movie, ‘Gone Girl.’ The movie stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s 2012 best-selling novel. The movie is due in theaters October 3. The cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly was shot by David Fincher himself! The cover shows Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, curled around his wife Amy, played by Rosamund Pike.

Gone Girl autopsies the marriage of Nick and Amy, two out-of-work magazine writers whose marital bliss turns toxic after they leave New York City for the Midwest. When Amy vanishes on their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect in her murder — though, technically, it’s unclear if she actually has been murdered. Maybe she’s just been kidnapped? And maybe Nick had nothing to do with it? For his part, Fincher remains unapologetic about his preference for unconventional characters. “I don’t know what ‘likable’ is. I know people who are doting parents, who give to charity, drive Priuses, all those things, who are insufferable a- -holes,” he says. “I like people who get s - - - done.”

Even if you’ve already read the novel, you may still be surprised by the movie’s curve balls. Fincher says that the lesson he learned from bringing Stieg Larsson’s hit novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to the screen in 2011 was that “we may have been too beholden to the source material.” And Flynn, a former EW writer who wrote the screenplay, wasn’t afraid to take a buzzsaw to her own novel. “There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I’d spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie,” she says.

I want soooooo badly to talk about this book, but I know many of you probably haven’t read it. If you want to talk about (why I hated this book) let’s talk after the jump! (more…)

‘Gone Girl’ will be directed by David Fincher – and the leads go to Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike! (HUH?)

Last I heard Reese Witherspoon would be starring as Amy in the film version of ‘Gone Girl.’ I am blown away that it’s been given to Rosamund Pike! Not that she’s not a great actress, but it seems out of left field, doesn’t it? I can’t see her as Amy, but maybe she can pull it off!

Ben Affleck will star as Nick, Amy’s husband. This – I think – is genius. I could totally see him as Nick, although I prefer to imagine Tom Hardy in the role. Luckily for EVERYONE, David Fincher is going to direct – so this movie is going to be just as creepy as it should be! Who’s excited!?

Rosamund Pike has been offered and is expected to accept the starring role opposite Ben Affleck in the 20th Century Fox mystery thriller Gone Girl, which is being co-financed 50-50 with New Regency, sources said. Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are being eyed for supporting roles.

Pike will play a wife who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, as her husband (Affleck) becomes the prime suspect. Much of the story is told in flashbacks.

The British actress, who recently starred opposite Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher, landed the role that had Hollywood’s thirtysomething female set jockeying for the chance to work with Fincher. A number of actresses including Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt had been reported to be in the mix, but all were ruled out for various reasons including availability. Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde also had been considered.

Reese Witherspoon, who optioned the book last summer, is producing alongside Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon.

The film is set to go into production in September.

I am so excited!!! Even though I hated the ending of the book…. I liked it. I read it in like 2 days, and I really enjoyed…most of it. I’ll be interested to see if they keep the ending in the movie the same as it was in the book.
