I love me some Robert Downey Jr. The Iron Man star and highest-paid actor in Hollywood, has hinted that he would be open to a 4th installment of the wildly successful Iron Man franchise. While he is currently filming the next Avengers movie, many people have speculated whether or not Downey Jr. would appear in the next chapter of Tony Stark’s on screen life.
He told Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s down to Kevin (Feige, Marvel Studios president) and Ike (Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment) and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree,” Downey said. But he added, “Right now, this has just been swell, hasn’t it?”
“It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” he said. “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.”
I’m pretty sure that the studios would give their left thumbs to get him in any possible role he would take- considering his earning power for the studios. The three Iron Man films made were some of the most profitable movies in the last decade, with the last film grossing more than $1.2 billion worldwide!
I say do it. He’s so rad and so entertaining to watch. That said- I just read Bret Easton Ellis’ Less Than Zero, which Downey Jr. starred in back in 1987 and it was so dark and heavy it made me feel like I needed to take about 100 hot showers- and not in a dirty 50 Shades of Grey way. (I also found that trailer way more compelling than I thought I would… perhaps because Jamie Dornan is so sexy…) So I guess I prefer the more light hearted current work in Bobby’s repertoire. But that’s just me.

Back in the nineties, Robert Downey, Jr. suffered from an addiction to cocaine and now his son appears to be going through the same thing. It’s sad, really…
Indio was a passenger in a car that was driving in West Hollywood yesterday when he decided to smoke something from a pipe in front of a cop. So naturally he was pulled over and arrested. He posted his $10,000 bail shortly after midnight and has since been released.
His famous dad has released this statement: “Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
Kudos to the family for tackling this problem head-on. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Indio can come through addiction like his father has.

According to the director of ‘Gravity,’ the movie almost starred Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr. instead of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
Alfonso Cuaron, 52, revealed the news during a 90-minute interview with “The Hollywood Masters,” a series held at Loyola Merymount University in Los Angeles, in front of the college’s film and television students.
“I thought I had written a small movie … just one character floating in space,” Cuaron said. “We started developing stuff (trying) to figure out the technology. And the luxury (was) that we could try many things.”
Cuaron revealed he originally approached Angeline Jolie for the role of Ryan Stone, which eventually went to Sandra Bullock. “I had conversations with Angelina, but then she went to do one film, and then she was going to direct (the upcoming 2014 drama ‘Unbroken’),” Cuaron explained. “Something happens, you part ways.”
Robert Downey Jr. was in talks to play astronaut Mike Kowalski, but the director said his participation was hampered by the technology used to film “Gravity.” (What does that even mean?) The role went to George Clooney instead.
“Gravity” went on to earn more than $700 million, and has been nominated for 10 Oscars.
How do you think the movie would have been with Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr. in the leads?
