UPDATE: Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s brother died of a drug overdose!

According to RadarOnline, Dan Gordon-Levitt, brother of actor Joseph, died of a drug overdose early Monday morning. His body was discovered at 3:58 am.

Dan had been living in an apartment in Hollywood with his girlfriend, and a friend, and neighbors say they were doing drugs the night he died.

A neighbor told RadarOnline.com, “They ( Dan and his friends) had been partying, and we were woken up with the girl screaming.

“She came running out to the front garden of their apartment and some people went out to help her.

“The paramedics were called, but he was found dead surrounded by needles and syringes.

“He had been living here on and off for the past few years, and he and his friends were not very popular to tell you the truth.

“One time they set a car on fire in front of the building, and there was always groups of people coming and going from that apartment.

“I’m sorry that he died, but I’m honestly not that surprised either.

No matter how he died, it’s still sad. My heart goes out to their family.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s brother has died!

Dan Gordon-Levitt was Joseph’s older brother. He was known as “Burning Dan” and was a fire-spinning flow artist. He professionally taught people how to dance with fire. Pop Eater spoke with Dan in August, and he seemed like a really great guy.

I haven’t been able to find out what happened, or how he died, but as soon as I do, I’ll post it!

Tell me about the school you’ve opened, Flow Arts School.
I started a school in Los Angeles, [and] I teach classes there and in Hollywood. I also drive around and teach at conferences, festivals, private parties, private lessons. I just got back from this conference in Peru where I taught at the conference and for local artists. I went from third world, often street kids, teaching them in the streets, to teaching at a corporate workshop — one of the biggest accounting companies in the world hired me and a couple friends to come and train 100 new employees.

How often are you mistaken for your brother? The resemblance is … baffling.

It’s wonderful to be mistaken for him. He taught me to question the relationships other people have with their siblings because he would be my favorite person in the world even if I wasn’t lucky enough to know him as my brother. He’s just awesome in every way that I pay attention to. I ask myself, “Do I love him because he’s my brother or is he really that awesome?” He’s really, really awesome.

Wow, sounds like you and Joe have a great relationship.
It’s rare that I don’t feel really proud of him.

This letter was posted on Facebook:

Burning Dan, we will miss you.
you were a shining light for our entire community
and although I know you would want us to smile, dance, and flow
I’m going to take a few moments to be sad for your passing.

For everyone who has not heard, Dan passed peacefully and unexpectedly Sunday night. In addition to founding and running Flow Temple, Dan was a celebrated poi-oneer who constantly challenged our thoughts on both how the tools could be used, and what good you could bring to the world through your art form.

He was also an incredibly sweet soul.

When we have information on a memorial service, we will pass it on.

Love you Dan.

BREAKING NEWS: Comedian Greg Giraldo has died at the age of 44!

So sad!!!

Last Comic Standing judge Greg Giraldo has passed away, 5 days after overdosing on prescription pills.

Greg was hospitalized last weekend in New Brunswick, NJ, after overdosing on prescription pills. Sources close to Giraldo say it was not a suicide attempt.

While he’s probably most known for being a judge on LCS and regular appearances on Comedy Central’s Friars’ roasts, I knew him from the Howard Stern show.

Fellow comedian and friend Jim Norton confirmed the passing on Twitter. “Greg Giraldo passed away today. This is the last photo of us together, taken June 28 at Noam’s wedding. RIP buddy.”

The picture above was taken just last month at David Hasselhoff’s roast.
