TMZ is investigating the death of Whitney Houston, and more and more details are starting to emerge. According to their sources, multiple pill bottles were found in her hotel room, but there weren’t many pills found.

Among the pills found at the scene were … ibuprofen (painkiller), Xanax (anti-depressant), Midol (for menstrual cramps), amoxicillin (for treating bacterial infections) … and more.

We’re told the amoxicillin was prescribed recently because Whitney had been suffering from a sore throat.

We’re told some of the pills were old … some issued in 2011 … but some of the bottles were from 2012. We’re told the bottles that were recovered at the scene did not contain a lot of pills.

Sources tell us … some of the prescriptions were filled at the infamous Mickey Fine pharmacy in Beverly Hills … where Michael Jackson had numerous prescriptions filled for Demerol and other drugs.

Law enforcement sources tell us … it’s possible Whitney suffered a heart attack caused by an adverse reaction to her medication, but it is simply too early to make an official call on the cause of death.

We’re told the L.A. Coroner’s Office has removed the hold on Whitney’s body … which means her family can now have Whitney transported back to Atlanta, where the singer will be laid to rest.

It’s looking like Whitney did NOT drowned. Coroner’s have concluded that there wasn’t enough water in her lungs to lead to that conclusion. TMZ’s sources believe Whitney died from a mixture of Xanax and other prescription drugs – mixed with alcohol.

Update on Bobbi Kristina, Whitney’s daughter. Sadly, she’s been hospitalized twice since her mother died, and family members fear she’s suicidal.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her and Bobbi Brown. Unbelievably heartbreaking.

Coroner’s have apparently come up with a cause of death for singer Whitney Houston, but the results are on lockdown. Officials say they will not release any information on the autopsy they performed on Sunday at the request of police detectives investigating her death.

Whitney was found dead in the bathroom of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday afternoon. According to the coroner, what he has released is that there were no obvious signs of trauma on Houston’s body, but officials weren’t ruling out any causes of death until they’ve seen the results of the toxicology tests.

Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said more details may be released today, but that will depend on whether or not detectives are comfortable releasing more information.

Here’s what we know so far.

Houston had been at rehearsals for the Clive Davis concert on Thursday, coaching singers Brandy and Monica, according to a person who was at the event but was not authorized to speak publicly about it.

The person said Houston looked disheveled, was sweating profusely and liquor and cigarettes could be smelled on her breath. It was the latest of countless stories about the decline of a uniquely gifted and beautiful artist, once the golden girl of the music industry.

The Rev. Al Sharpton remembered Houston while preaching Sunday morning at the Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles.

“Yes, she had an outstanding range,” he said. “Yes, she could hit notes no one else could reach. But what made her different was she was born and bred in the bosom of the black church.”

The congregation applauded and answered him with shouts of “Amen” and “Tell it!”

“A lot of artists can hit notes but they don’t hit us. Say words but they have no meaning. Have gifts and talent but no anointing. Something about Whitney that would reach in you and make you feel,” Sharpton said.

She was found unresponsive in her bathtub around 3:00, and was pronounced dead shortly before 4:00PM.

According to a police report that has just been released, Leslie Carter, the 25-year-old sister of Nick and Aaron, died of an overdose.

Leslie, who was an aspiring singer, had been taking medication for depression as well. She died on Tuesday in upstate New York. The official cause of death is pending toxicology results.

Her stepmother, Ginger Carter, told police that Leslie has a “long history of mental illness” and had appeared depressed the morning of the day she died.

Leslie was staying at her father’s house with her 10-month-old baby. She had coffee that morning on the porch with her stepmother and complained that she was “not feeling great,” the report says.

She then went to the bathroom and stayed in there so long that Ginger became concerned. Ginger spoke to Leslie through the door and found out that Leslie had fallen in the shower.

Ginger then helped Leslie lie down in bed and Leslie appeared to fall asleep. At one point, Ginger brought Leslie’s baby into the bedroom “in the hopes that [Leslie] would wake up and play with the baby.”

“Ginger stated that [Leslie] did not wake up but seemed to be okay and just sleeping,” says the report. “Ginger states that she looked at [Leslie] and she had all the color to her skin and was breathing. Ginger took the baby out of the room and closed the door.”

Leslie’s father came home around 4:16 p.m. and Leslie “was found in the bedroom not breathing or responding,” says the report. Robert attempted CPR and then 911 was called. Leslie was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities had found near Leslie medication to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, as well as a muscle relaxant.

Authorities later interviewed Ginger, who “appeared to be under the influence of an unknown drug” and had “slurred speech, pin-point pupils, glassy eyes and kept falling asleep.”

Ginger said she had taken as many as six pills, including possibly Xanax, and as her police interview continued the officer became concerned that Ginger was at risk of an overdose.

“Ginger stated that she is only supposed to take four [pills] but Robert gave her an extra one because of Leslie passing away,” says the report, which does not say whether Ginger received medical attention.

Wow, what a mess. Just from what I’ve read here – looks like Ginger was impaired herself, and probably wasn’t thinking clearly when Leslie passed out in the shower. If Ginger had called an ambulance right then, Leslie may still be here! Instead, she laid an unconscious Leslie in bed – and let her lay there and overdose – ALL DAY!? It wasn’t until the father came home that anyone realized she’s was dying? So sad!

According to family members, Leslie Carter had been battling a nasty addiction to prescription drugs in the days before her death. According to TMZ the family believes she died of a drug overdose.

Sources close to the “House of Carters” reality star tell TMZ the 25-year-old had recently moved from Canada to be with family in Upstate New York. She was attempting to kick her addiction habit.

We’re told family members had attempted to rid the home of any prescription medication — including Xanax –  and were hopeful Leslie was on the road to recovery.

Sources say family members believed Leslie would be OK to stay alone in the home for roughly an hour yesterday while they ran errands … but when they returned, Leslie was unconscious.

Officials were called to the scene … but Leslie could not be saved.

We’re told Leslie’s 1-year-old daughter was not at home with Carter at the time of her death.

Her autopsy is finished, and was inconclusive – which definitely leans toward an overdose. ”There were no visible signs of trauma,” coroner Richard Mackowiak told E! News. “We are awaiting a toxicology report to determine a cause of death … Results of the toxicology test are made public at the discretion of the family.”

My heart goes out to the family. So sad!

Leslie Carter, who is the sister of Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) and singer Aaron Carter, died yesterday in New York.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter,” a spokesperson for the family told Access Hollywood. “We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”

Following in the footsteps of her famous siblings, Leslie was an aspiring singer and her single “Like Wow!” was even included on the soundtrack of the movie “Shrek” in 2011. Nick’s younger sister also appeared on the family’s 2006 reality show, “House of Carters.”

Leslie leaves behind her four siblings as well as a husband, Mike, and nearly one-year-old daughter, Alyssa Jane.

As far as I can tell, no one has reported the cause of death yet. When I find out – I’ll let you know!

Etta James, the incredible R&B singer whose song “At Last” became an anthem for weddings, has died. She was 73.

James had been suffering from dementia, kidney problems, and battling leukemia. In December 2011, her physician announced that her leukemia was terminal, and asked for prayers for the singer. During her illness, her husband Artis Mills and her two sons fought bitterly over control of her $1 million estate, though a deal was later struck keeping Mills as the conservator and capping the singer’s expenses at $350,000.

James died at Riverside Community Hospital, with her husband and sons at her side, De Leon said.

“It’s a tremendous loss for her fans around the world,” he said. “She’ll be missed. A great American singer. Her music defied category.”

Comedian Patrice O’Neal died earlier this morning … as a result of a stroke he suffered back in October.  His friends at the “Opie and Anthony” announced the news this morning on their radio show.

O’Neal had been a staple in the comedy world for years — and performed at the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen” back in September.

O’Neal was a regular guest on the “Opie and Anthony” radio show — and appeared on several TV shows such as “Chappelle Show,” “The Office,” and “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.”

Opie just tweeted, “Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD.”

O’Neal was 41.

Patrice’s rep, Matt Frost, tells TMZ … “It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O’Neal has passed away this morning at 7:00 AM due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19.”

Frost adds, “Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius. His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side.  Patrice is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo; his step daughter Aymilyon, sister Zinder, and his mother Georgia.”

“The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks. We ask that you please respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time.”

Charlie Sheen has released a statement about the death of Patrice O’Neal — saying, “The world at large lost a brilliant man today.”

Sheen says he only met O’Neal just a few days before the comic roasted him at the Comedy Central Roast back in September … but says, “I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent.”

“Patrice had that rare ‘light’ around him and inside of him.”

Sheen concluded, “My tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family.”

I didn’t know who Patrice was until I watched the Charlie Sheen roast, but when I saw him I couldn’t believe how funny he was! Scary how short life is….
