Richie Sambora still loves Heather Locklear

Richie Sambora still loves Heather Locklear

Richie Sambora has revealed that he still loves his ex-wife Heather Locklear.

He says that the two of them still share a close bond and that he will always have a special place in his heart for her.

In a new interview, he revealed, “Time does heal old wounds. I mean, I still love Heather and I know she loves me. She’s the mother of my child, man. What can you say?”

Still, he says that his daughter Ava is his “favorite girl” and he also spoke of how proud he is of her. He said, “She and I are close and have a candid relationship. Boundaries are set. That doesn’t budge. She is an amazing kid and dedicated to school. She’s acting. The first audition she went out for was Judd Apatow’s ‘This is 40’ and she got it. She’s been doing Disney stuff. I’m really proud of her – she’s just a joy. My favorite girl – her and my mom, I always say.”

Earlier in the year, he said that it was essential for himself and Heather to keep things cordial between them for the sake of their daughter. He said, “If you don’t get along you are messing the kid up. That’s what happens. So you have to put that before whatever s**t is going on. Communication has got to come first. There’s a cooling off period obviously, as you know – it takes time. It was almost ten years ago though. So we’re fine. Thanksgiving or Christmas, we all spend it together.”

Richie Sambora appears on EXTRA looking very DIRTY.

At first I thought he meant to look so dirty, and now I’m thinking this must be his style. Why would you WANT to look like you’re wearing a filthy shirt that was drug through the mud? I wouldn’t even want to hug the man!

Here are some new pictures of Richie Sambora at the Grove, where he was interviewed by Mario Lopez for EXTRA.

Richie is going solo with his new album, “Aftermath of the Lowdown”. This is Richie’s third solo album in his 35-year career. It’s his first solo album since 1998. When asked why it took him so long to write another album, he admitted he’s been a bit preoccupied.

“Obviously, the band has been very, very busy over the last decade and I didn’t really have a chance to actually fit anything in there,” he told ABC News Radio.  “But when I got done with this last tour in August, I was completely energized.  These songs started to come out.  The album started to take shape and I said, ‘Well, time to do a record.’”  He said in writing these songs, “I was able to take stock in my life and own some stuff.”

His “stuff” is his feelings about what he calls his “trials and tribulations” over the past seven years or so, which he examines in songs like “You Can Only Get So High,” “Learnin’ How to Fly with a Broken Wing” and one, “Weathering the Storm,” that he co-wrote with Elton John’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin.

“It took a damn long time for my demons to catch up with me,” said Richie of the crash that eventually led him to rehab twice, most recently in 2011.  “I was running pretty fast for a long, long time … [but] I would gauge myself [by] the people I was hanging with, and they were doing, like, 10 times more than me so I thought I was OK!”  Eventually, Richie said, he “reached his quota,” adding, “I’ve had enough … I’m full to the brim now … I don’t feel deprived or anything like that.  I don’t really have any regrets about it, either.”

As for his personal life, which he also wrote about for the new album, Richie said he’s still open to love despite some bad experiences.  “I want a relationship. I really, really do,” he told ABC News Radio.  “I mean, I would never say that I would never get married again.  I would certainly want more children if I found the right person to have them with.”  He laughed, “I’m not put off at all, man … I wanna be in a relationship!  So, anybody out there hearing this, I’m taking resumes right now!”

Of course, any woman who Richie dates has to pass muster with his teenage daughter Ava, whose mom is Heather Locklear.  Several songs on “Aftermath of the Lowdown” were inspired by her, including the single “Every Road Leads Home to You.”  “She’s very critical of who I see and who I don’t see,” laughed Richie.  “She’s always telling me, ‘Dad, she’s too young.  It’s inappropriate.’”

Next month, Richie has three North American solo shows booked, in Philadelphia, Toronto and New York City.  Earlier in the month, he’ll be touring Europe.  But next year, he’ll turn his attention back to Bon Jovi: the band’s new album is due in March.  So what does it sound like?

“It’s obviously an evolution but it’s still, you know … we’re writing songs to fill stadiums … Let’s face it,” he told ABC News Radio. “It’s gotta be those kinda songs that have a good, positive message … it’s basically what we do, and it’s some new production ideas, and stuff like that, so it sounds contemporary.”

Denise Richards and Richie Sambora are dating again after splitting four years ago!

Actress Denise Richards and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora are dating again, four years after they split!

Richie, 52, and Denise, 40, started dating in 2006, following Richie’s divorce from actress Heather Locklear and Denise’s divorce from actor Charlie Sheen. The romance caused quite a stir, when Heather accused her friend of having an affair with her husband. The couple only lasted a year.

Now, it looks like the twosome have decided to give their relationship another go and have been spotted on several romantic dates, including a dinner on Sunday night (Oct. 30) at a Japanese restaurant in Woodland Hills, Calif., according to RadarOnline.

A source told E! “They’re very happy and are dating. They never stopped caring for each other.” In fact, Denise wrote all about her relationship with Richie in her tell-all memoir ‘The Real Girl Next Door,’ revealing, “Richie and I shared an easiness I hadn’t before had. We were able to be open, honest, and completely authentic with each other, with no judgment.”

She continued, “I don’t regret my relationship with him. I learned hard lessons from our journey together. My heart may have been bruised, but it was pure. Richie is a wonderful man. He came into my life when I needed him and he needed me. We’ll always have that bond.”
