Renée Zellweger is set to star in a third ‘Bridget Jones’ film.
The actress has already expressed an interest in reprising the famous role and is prepared to once again pile on the pounds to play the hapless British TV reporter. A source told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: “The next film will leap forward 10 years. Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver are still on the scene and Bridget is about to give birth to Daniel’s baby.”
Working Title, the company who produced the first two films, have already bought the rights to author Helen Fielding’s third novel. The pressure is now on Fielding, who gave birth to her second child four months ago, to complete the book as soon as possible.
The source added: “Helen Fielding has started on the book. Obviously her own baby daughter has stalled production a little but now that Working Title has signed on the dotted line, she’ll be trying to finish the book as quickly as possible.”
Renée gained 25 pounds to play Bridget in the first two movies and perfected her English accent by using it on set even when she wasn’t filming.
I loved the first Bridget Jones - and kinda liked the second. That whole Thai prison thing was a bit hard to believe. But I would love to see a third!!
The two stars were seen looking cosy at new Los Angeles restaurant Cut, where they enjoyed a lavish dinner together.
A source said: “They seemed really into each other. Renee definitely left with Bruce.” However, it has been claimed that the other diners in the restaurant failed to notice that Bruce and Renee were sat with one another because they were distracted by another star - Reese Witherspoon.
According to reports, the ‘Walk The Line’ actress - who filed for divorce from husband Ryan Phillippe earlier this month - was eating a salad alone, before Renee saw her and went over to have a chat. The two actresses were soon joined by ‘Die Hard’ actor Bruce and the trio then spent almost an hour together talking and drinking.
Meanwhile, Renee has claimed that her life was easier when she was a barmaid - before becoming an international movie star. She recently said: “When I first went to Hollywood, I remember working for two years in a bar. I was happy when all I had to worry about was the labels on the bottles. “I’m not a ‘look at me’ girl? When I have to walk down the red carpet before a premiere, I am terrified by the wall of photographers screaming my name. It is so violent.”
