Kenny Chesney claims nothing about his marriage to Renee Zellweger made him happy.

The singer married ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ star Renee in 2005 but the couple split just four months later.

Kenny now admits he wasn’t ready to tie the knot, but says Renee is “the sweetest soul I’ve ever met”.

Describing the brief union as a “life lesson”, he added to People magazine: “There was nothing that made me happy. You can’t fall in love as hard and fast as we did and not have some residual effects.”

Kenny also admitted that though he “enjoys” being a bachelor, he would consider marriage again.

He said: “I thought I was ready once before, but I wasn’t. If I get married again, I’m going to give it 150 per cent.”

Kenny and Renee have remained good friends since the split, and have been spotted having dinner together on several occasions.

After they split, the couple had their marriage annulled, with Renee citing fraud.

She later expanded on the reason, saying: “The term is simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny’s character. I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalised or untrue conclusions.”

Renee Zellweger is a “terrible” movie star, because she hates promoting her work.

The actress, who is busy publicizing new movie Leatherheads, admits she finds interviews with the media tiresome.

She says, “I’m a terrible movie star. I’m not good at it. I can pretend to be but it takes a lot out of me. It’s not my natural inclination to go, ‘Oh good! Another talk show!’”
Zellweger also admits she chooses film characters who bear no resemblance to herself – because doesn’t want to feel vulnerable on the big screen.

She adds, “I don’t feel safe playing the girl who looks like me. There’s not enough to hide behind.
“The further removed the character is from my own, the more fun and easier it is.”

Renee Zellweger, 39, says she has no plans to have kids.

“Motherhood has never been an ambition,” she tells London’s The Times. “I never have expectations like, ‘When I’m 19 I’m going to do this, and by the time I’ve hit 25, I’m going to do that’.

“I just take things as they come, each day at a time, and if things happen, all well and good,” she added. “I just want to be independent and be able to take care of myself. Anything else is just gravy.”

Zellweger refused to talk about her brief marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney, but she wasn’t secretive when it came to her reported romance with her Leatherheads director and co-star George Clooney (who was once held at gunpoint).

“I did see a recent magazine article in which George said that he and I had been girlfriend-boyfriend ‘a little bit’,” Zellweger says. “But what the hell is that? ‘A little bit?’ I’m not sure if I should be insulted or not!”

Zellweger — who says she maintains her svelte physique by running “every day” — insists his comments were misconstrued.

“I think he was asked if he liked me and said, ‘A little bit,’” she says. “Don’t you connect me with that man! I’d deny it until I die,” she jokes.

Adds Zellweger, “Actually, who the hell am I kidding? Scrap all that; do connect me with George Clooney. Connect me with him as much as possible!”

Don’t let that Oscar fool you!

Renee Zellweger “has no talent,” according to close buddy and Leatherheads co-star George Clooney.

“You know what the problem is? She has no talent. And she’s not cute,” the perennial jokester quips to Parade.com. “And it was very hard for me to work with her.”

Not that hard. Getting serious, the Oscar-winning hunk says Renee is exactly the opposite. “She’s smart. She can do anything. She can deliver a punch line with the best of them. And she’s one of the sweetest, nicest people on earth. And she’s a dear friend.”

Renee can’t help but say the same for George, 46, who also directed the 1920s football romantic comedy.

“Just as you’d expect, he’s funny and witty,” she tells Parade.com.

But George still knows when it’s time to get down to work, getting “very focused” on set when it was time to yell “Action!”

“He has the process of a filmmaker, who’s much more seasoned than he is, like someone who’s been doing this for 35 years, not five,” the 38-year-old actress says.

And how about that smooch between the two in the film?

“That’s the one thing I can’t remember,” George says.
