Reese Witherspoon Spent Her 40th Birthday With Nicole Kidman

Screen Shot 2016-03-23 at 12.24.33 AM

Happy Birthday, Reese Witherspoon! Dinner’s on Nicole Kidman!

“This is 40 … I am one lucky gal,” Witherspoon wrote on Instagram along with a photo of her and Kidman, 48, at a table enjoying wine and cake just moments before the birthday girl blew out her candles.

Reese has a thing I like to call sarcastic face, where her face kinda always looks like it’s play-enjoying things. And this pic is no different. Still, I know they’re buds and I KNOW Reese legit dug her party the Saturday prior. That shindig included Kidman and her husband Keith Urban,  Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Matthew McConaghey, Tobey Maguire and Kate Hudson.

Nicole totally picked up the check, right? Or was Reese like, your PRESENCE is present enough?

Reese Witherspoon’s 40th Birthday Party Included A Performance By Taylor Swift!

Screen Shot 2016-03-21 at 10.34.12 AM

Reese Witherspoon had her crazy, star-studded, indulgent 40th birthday party on Saturday, how was YOUR weekend?

The party kicked off at 7:30 p.m., as Witherspoon (who turns 40 on Tuesday) arrived with husband Jim Toth, and honestly, the whole thing seems like an adorable, wholesome, Reese Witherspoon-y affair.

“Reese was smiling and seemed excited about her party. She wore a sparkly cocktail dress and looked amazing,” People says.

And you KNOW all the A listers were there: Jennifer Aniston and husband Justin Theroux, Courteney Cox, Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves, Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey, Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban, Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer, Jason Bateman and Taylor Swift and Kate Hudson (without Nick Jonas, lol).

As the guests arrived a live band played sexy jazz music and while some guests brought presents, People says, perhaps the best gift was when, “later in the evening, Taylor performed for Reese.”

Hudson shared several videos of Swift performing on Snapchat but also, Witherspoon got up on her big night, singing “Sweet Home Alabama” with Urban.

“It was a great party. When Reese left at 2 a.m., she was in the best mood,” the People source adds. “You could tell that she had the best time celebrating her birthday.”

Of course she did because she’s REESE GD WITHERSPOON! Now I think Kate Hudson spent a little too much time documenting the whole thing and not enough time partying, but that’s just me…

Mini Me Goes To Prom

Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 9.18.16 AM

Mini Me! You’re all grown up…

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe‘s daughter Ava is a 16-year-old carbon copy of her mom, and we all know it creeps me the hell out, but in a trainwreck kind of way where I can’t look away.

Anyhow, Ava headed to prom with some dude named Scott (WHO IS HE?) to her school dance on Friday night, looking very cute indeed. Ava captioned the photo:

“somewhat formal”

Dunno, looks pretty formal to me, Ava.

Ava is Reese’s oldest child, followed by Deacon, 12, and half-brother Tennessee, 3. And they are all growing up SO FAST.

What do you think of Mini Me’s dance date?

Strange Things Relax Reese Witherspoon

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 8.40.15 AM

You look pretty relaxed to ME, Reese Witherspoon!

The actress lunched with poodles, held pig and generally just chilled in glamorous dresses by Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, and Reese’s own Draper James line, so I don’t get all this high strung mumbo jumbo.

Pics aside, her interview was pretty interesting (and the inspiration for the title of this post, obvi). Here are some highlights:

On making better movies for women: “There was a point, around 2011, there were like five actresses that I admire very much and they all called me and said, ‘There’s this role of this girlfriend in this movie,’ which was kind of just a terrible movie. And we’re all kind of clamoring for this terrible part? We are so much better than this.”
“I want to get a female perspective on film that would make my daughter [Ava] understand what it means to be a woman in a different way.”

On husband Jim Toth inspiring her to produce: “He said, ‘You should produce movies. You read more books than anybody I know. You should just buy some of them and turn them into films.’ We’re reading [material] constantly. My brain hurts sometimes. Sometimes I’ve been reading and watching movies for seven days, and I need a break.”

On starting her line Draper James: “Well, it comes from a lot of the same instincts about making movies. I saw an empty space. All these women in the South, they read fashion magazines, but nobody was telling the stories about their upbringing—their mothers, their grandmothers who love getting dressed up. It’s a feminine culture. [Draper James] is about where I’m from, an opportunity for me to move back to the South, get my roots here.”

On how she relaxes: “My husband would definitely say, ‘She’s very relaxed at home.’ Hmm, I don’t cook much. I used to cook a lot; I relax a lot. You know what I like to do? Reorganize bookshelves and my sock drawer. Jim’s like, ‘What have you been doing for four hours in your closet?’ I’m like, ‘Um, reorganizing my underwear?'”

Sometimes, your underwear needs a good ‘ol re-organizing. I mean, not mine, my underwear drawer is IMMACULATE. But hey, we all can’t be me. Right, Reese Witherspoon?

But hey, I love her interviews. What did you think of this one? WEIGH IN BELOW!
