I need to read this book!  I have had it for a couple months, but I’m so behind on all my books, I haven’t gotten to it yet!  I keep picking up books that I want to read, and I have so many of them “to read” now, I feel like I’ll never reach the end!  I’m currently reading “Friday Night Knitting Club” (which makes me want to join a knitting club, btw) and next I’m going to read “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle”.  I’m DYING to read it. I bought it several months ago, then Oprah picked it as her book – for her book club.  She had the author on the show, and now I’m even more stoked to read it.

Queen Latifah has dropped 20 pounds since joining the Jenny Craig diet program in January — and that’s enough for her.

“I’m not caught up in how big or small I am,” the actress/singer, 38, tells In Touch of her weight-loss strategy, “Some people say they’re a skinny person trapped in a big girl’s body and I’ve never seen myself like that. I just feel like I could get a little healthier, so why not?” she says.

Queen was inspired to diet by a sobering statistic. “I had read that if you lost 5 percent of your body weight, you could cut your chances of things like heart disease in half. Jenny Craig mentioned the same statistic to me, so we connected on a health level.”

Queen, whose favorite meal is Jenny’s meatloaf, now plans to stay with the company on a maintenance program. “I feel good. I don’t feel all bloated and tired after a meal,” she says. “I haven’t had to sacrifice anything that I normally eat, I just eat a little bit less of it.”

At her heaviest, 5’10″ Queen Latifah had reached close to 240 pounds. She says she is happiest at the 195 to 215 pound range: “I don’t want to be skinny.”

Rapper-turned-movie star Queen Latifah wants to have children.

The 38-year-old insists her biological clock has begun ticking, but admits she’s not quite ready to become a mother just yet.

Latifah says, “There’s the intention. I don’t know when, but it’s gonna happen eventually.”

The Chicago star has always remained tight-lipped about her personal life, despite repeated claims she is dating her female personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins.

Queen Latifah is suing the production company behind her The Perfect Holiday film, claiming she is yet to be paid for her appearance.

The rapper-turned-actress’ lawyers have filed a lawsuit on her behalf in Manhattan, New York, claiming bosses at Perfect Christmas Productions breached her contract and owe her $275,000 for a cameo role in the comedy.

Latifah, real name Dana Owens, co-produced the 2007 movie, which starred Terrence Howard and Gabrielle Union.

After signing on to be a Jenny Craig spokeswoman in January, Queen Latifah has shed a few pounds and is continuing her mission of encouraging others to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The Mad Money star, 38, who is known for embracing her curves, said her weight loss goal wasn’t “about getting skinny.”

“My intention was to lose five to 10 percent of my body weight because it makes a difference with health related issues, and I achieved that goal in a couple of months,” she told People at the first annual National Awards & Recognition Luncheon for The League recently. “I’m excited about this weight loss.”

In addition to following the Jenny Craig program, the singer-actress hit the gym five to seven days a week, switching between the treadmill or elliptical machine for an hour.

“My jeans are looser, I feel more energetic,” she said of shedding the weight. “People dig it. They come up to me and say ‘I’m glad you’re talking about the health side of it.’ People get that message, which is important too.”

Even though she’s slimmer, Latifah said her fans know she’s still one of them.

“They see that I’m doing this for the health reasons but also say, ‘She’s still representing for the big girls. She hasn’t abandoned us!’ ” Latifah said. “This is me doing something for me, but if I am going to be a role model I hope people can catch on.”

Giving Back to the Community
Queen Latifah isn’t just serving as a role model for healthy living, but she’s also inspiring others to contribute to their communities by teaming up with The League, a youth service organization that empowers students to give back.

“I’ve been giving back since I was a teen, handing out turkeys at Thanksgiving and handing out toys at toys drives for Christmas. It’s very important to give back as a youth,” Latifah, who hosted the luncheon, said. “It’s as simple as helping an old lady across the street or giving up your seat on the bus for someone who is pregnant. Those things are about respecting other people and taking care of them even if you don’t know them.”
