Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz has stunned fans by revealing he was once so depressed he tried to kill himself.
The rocker has spoken about his ordeal in an effort to encourage students suffering from mental illness to seek out professional help. Wentz admits he was paralyzed by anxiety and depression at the beginning of his career and he felt so lost and alone he attempted suicide.
Wentz has joined stars like Mary J. Blige and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan to front the Jed Foundation’s Half Of Us campaign, which is aimed at cutting student suicide rates. The trio has each sat for video interviews, in which they detail their darkest hours. The videos appear on MTV’s college channel MTVU.
During his revealing interview, Wentz says, “The darkest moment was when we had just finished recording out major label record and two days later we were going to go to Europe and I felt completely lost and out of control. “At that point, I’d seen some doctors and they were Hollywood doctors so they gave me a cocktail (of prescription drugs) but I was kind of the drugstore cowboy, so I took the cocktail the way I wanted to take it. “I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen’s (song) Hallelujah and sat there and took a bunch of (prescription drug) Adavan in a Best Buy (store) parking lot. “And I called up my manager because I was, at that point, completely out of my head with Adavan. And I was talking to him and I was slurring my words, so he called my mom and my mom called me and she came and got me and we went to the hospital. “I came home and we realised that we needed to do more than just keep (my) head above water. It’s not really about keeping your head above water, it’s about feeling all right and feeling safe in your own skin. It’s not about keeping your head above water and barely keep going.”

Imagine planning a trip to Cancun for Spring Break: sun, sweat, and maybe a little bit of partying – really it’s all the fun you need. But nothing makes a getaway sweeter and the memories greater, than seeing your favorite band while vacationing.
Well, for some lucky spring breakers, that’s exactly what happened. Thanks to American Eagle Outfitters, some vacationers got an earful of a very rockin’ Fall Out Boy concert on March 4th at The City Nightclub in Cancun.
Not only did they sing their hit, “Thnks fr th mmrs” and were also treated to a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”.

Rumor has it that Joe Simpson is urging his daughter Ashlee Simpson to dump her rocker boyfriend, Pete Wentz so that she can star in a new reality dating show.
Joe believes that the show will help promote Ashlee’s new album, Bittersweet World, which is due out in March of this year.
The only catch with the show is, Ashlee will have to dump Pete Wentz to be single for the show. The show intends on putting 14 men in a house that are all competing for Ashlee Simpson.

I just love her hair red, it’s so cute! What do you think?
In other news: Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz is hoping to use his band’s popularity to support democratic candidate Barack Obama in the upcoming presidential elections. Wentz, 28, has agreed to host a fundraising gala next Tuesday.
The event at Chicago’s Lakeview Broadcasting Company will see Wentz’s Fall Out Boy band-mate Patrick Stump DJing and attendees will all receive a free t-shirt designed by the star himself.
The bassist concedes that many of the band’s supporters are under the legal voting age of 18 but hopes they will encourage their parents to vote for Obama in the elections on November 4th.
He says, “If we had the speeches or the momentum of Oprah, we’d probably have done something else. But given that many fans of ours are under the age of 18, we decided that convincing their parents to get involved monetarily, or by canvassing neighborhoods, is probably the best.”

Ashlee Simpson and her boyfriend, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, got hot and heavy at a New Year’s Eve party at the Shore Club in Miami, Fla., where Ashlee flaunted a simple band on her left ring finger. Then, on New Year’s Day, little Simpson showed off the substantial jewelry with even greater flair, prompting rumors that the couple is engaged.
Rumors swirled in July 2007 that the two were betrothed, but her rep denied it. The rockin’ duo has been seen together since early 2007, but in February, Pete told Rolling Stone, “Maybe in a different universe, we’d be some hot couple, but not in this one.” However, they sang a different tune in April when they were spotted holding hands and making out at nightclub Parc in L.A.
Could the coy couple, who spent Christmas together with Ashlee’s family in Texas, be kicking off 2008 by taking their relationship to the next level?
UPDATE: US Magazine is reporting that Ashlee and Pete ARE NOT engaged:
