Troubled rocker Pete Doherty has been granted early release from prison – he will walk free on Tuesday.
The Babyshambles frontman was jailed for 14 weeks last month for “breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs”.
But the star is now set to be released after serving just 28 days of his sentence – which has been halved and a further 18 days deducted as part of a scheme introduced last summer to ease prison overcrowding. He also gets another two days taken off for time spent in police custody.
Doherty was forced to postpone a solo show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 26th and scrap his appearance at the Love Music Hate Racism benefit in the British capital on April 27th.
But his release means his planned performance at Britain’s famous Glastonbury Festival in June should go ahead as planned.

Pete Doherty’s aristocrat landlord has denied he is to evict the troubled rocker from his English country mansion.
Doherty – who is currently serving a 14-week sentence at a London jail – rents a large house in Wiltshire, England, but was reportedly facing being left homeless after the property’s owner found the house in a state of disrepair during a routine inspection. The star was reported to have drawn all over the walls and floors, and let his pet cats run wild inside, fouling the interiors. But Doherty’s landlord, the Earl of Cardigan – who also rents a property to the star’s ex-girlfriend Kate Moss – has denied he has terminated his tenancy agreement.
He says, “I have not evicted him.”
Doherty has been removed from rented accommodation on several occasions – in 2005 he was kicked out of his North London flat after neighbours complained about a series of loud, all-night parties. Just a year later, he was removed from his home in East London for daubing graffiti on the walls and racking up more than $20,000 in unpaid rent.
The Babyshambles frontman was jailed for 14 weeks on April 8th for “breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his (probation) order and using different drugs”.

Incarcerated British rocker Pete Doherty has appealed to a die-hard fan to help clear him of allegations he has taken drugs in jail – after promising he was “clean” in a letter to the devotee.
Last week, British newspaper The Sun published photos of Doherty inside London’s Wormwood Scrubs jail, claiming the star has continued using hard drugs while behind bars.
But in his reply to one fan’s mail, Doherty writes, “All the best from The Scrubs. Tell ‘em I’m clean, countin’ the days until the next freedom gig! Yours, Pete D.”
The Babyshambles singer was jailed for 14 weeks earlier this month for “breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his (probation) order and using different drugs”.

Incarcerated rocker Pete Doherty has sparked a crackdown on drugs after he was allegedly pictured taking heroin in prison.
Last week, British newspaper The Sun published photos of Doherty inside London’s Wormwood Scrubs jail, claiming the star has continued using hard drugs while behind bars.
The government’s Prison Service has since ordered a drugs sweep with officers seizing cocaine, heroin and cannabis from prisoners. However, a spokesman for the Prison Service says the raids were not connected to Doherty, adding “A full lockdown search was conducted following significant intelligence.”

The founder of a British clothing company has set up a welfare fund to help troubled rocker Pete Doherty.
The Babyshambles frontman was jailed for 14 weeks on April 8th for “breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his (probation) order and using different drugs”.
The singer is also rumoured to be facing eviction from his English countryside home and mounting debts.
And now Stefano Passantino, founder of fashion website Lastseason.com, is dedicating all the proceeds from the sale of stripey t-shirts to the Pete Doherty Welfare Fund, which he plans to present to the star when he is released from London’s Wormwood Scrubs prison.
Passantino insists he wants to help Doherty turn his life around and hopes the extra cash will come in handy.
He says, “The bloke’s incredibly talented and as a musician he brings a lot of joy to people’s lives. I am a big fan who wants to see this gifted bloke given every chance to get back on his feet again. I want to see Pete performing and writing new material for years to come.
“I’ll do what I can to help Pete leave the bad stuff behind him. I’ll give him a job, feed him, clothe him – but I won’t wash him, that’s asking too much.”

Pete Doherty’s manager has denied claims the troubled rocker is using drugs in prison – insisting the star is “healthy, lucid and positive”.
The Babyshambles rocker was jailed for 14 weeks last Tuesday for “breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his (probation) order and using different drugs”.
Earlier this week, British newspaper The Sun published photos of Doherty inside London’s Wormwood Scrubs jail, claiming the star has continued using hard drugs while incarcerated.
But Doherty’s manager Adrian Hunter has dismissed the reports and called on the media to let him serve his time in peace.
He says, “In our contact with Peter since his incarceration he has been healthy, lucid and positive.
“Peter is trying to carry out his sentence with dignity and should be allowed to do so without intrusion.”
