First rumors spread that ‘The X Factor’ host Steve Jones would soon be out of a job. Then the tweet came in, he wrote: “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Back in December 2011, news of Jones’ demise was a little premature, and his reps shot down the rumors immediately. But they surfaced again at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier in January 2012, when Kevin Reilly, head of Fox Entertainment, said, “Whether Steve’s the guy or not, it comes under the heading of growth in general, so there will be some tweaks to the show.” Reilly then added, “Hosting, as we know, it is a much harder job than meets the eye. I think everybody now has come to realize the value of Ryan Seacrest.”

Earlier on Monday, Jones’ now-former boss Simon Cowell was quoted in London’s Daily Mirror saying: “I don’t think he did a bad job but, like ‘America’s Got Talent,’ there is a Brit limit on the show.” A few hours later, Jones’ tweet made it official.

And now E! is reporting that Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul will not be returning as judges for the second season.

“She wants to focus on her music career,” their source said of Nicole. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he’s given her his blessing … ‘X Factor’ took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music. She was doing ‘X Factor’ six days a week.”

Sources also confirmed to E! that judge Paula Abdul will also not be returning to “The X Factor,” leaving Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as the only original members of the judging panel for Season 2. “She found out today,” a show source told E! Online.

You might think twice about accepting a job as Paula Abdul’s assistant after reading this story. According to sources, the 49-year-old X Factor judge has some crazy demands.

Each assistant must carry and use a tape recorder at all times “because she doesn’t trust her own conversations,” the source says.

“She also makes them check the TiVo for any mention of her and put it on a DVD.”

Abdul team members should also prepare to go through her email — and respond to family and friends as the star herself.

The “Forever Your Girl” singer also needed constant reminders that she is a “warrior, survivor and gift,” adds the insider.

This is so insane it’s funny. I really hope it is true. I like the thought of people running around behind her with a water bottle saying “Here you go, gift…you’re such a survivor, warrior.”

On Valentine’s Day, Paula Abdul made a frantic 911 call, screaming “Drop me off!” after her boyfriend wouldn’t let her out of the car he was driving. (Listen to the recording here)

During the call — placed at 4:35 PM on Valentine’s Day — Paula cries and sobs hysterically and says, “I wanna go, and he won’t let me!”

Seconds later Paula says, “Are you gonna drop me off ’cause I have emergency on the phone” — and shortly after that she says, “He’s dropping me off.”

Officers got in touch with Paula about an hour later and she said it was just a verbal dispute.

We’re told Paula and the guy were driving near Santa Barbara when the epic argument erupted. Cops went to her house that night and found she was fine. Paula did not want to file a police report.

A spokesperson for Abdul tells TMZ, “Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out.”

Paula Abdul runs some errands after having lunch on Thursday afternoon. Despite reports that the 48-year-old singer’s show Live To Dance had been canceled, the former American Idol judge seemed chipper as always.

She said, “I am intelligent. Having a brain, that’s a concept, yes, with Paula Abdul. I have a brain.” This is all for a new interview for a show called Sunday Morning, which is set to air on January 2, 2011.

The singer talked openly about her sometimes bizarre behavior and insisted she’s not a big drinker or drug abuser.

“I’ve never had a drinking problem,” Abdul said. “I’ve never physically been drunk in my life. I don’t use recreational drugs. But I am goofy. It’s Paula. Even the people on Idol know that none of that existed, ever!”

Abdul is preparing for her new reality competition series “Live to Dance” which premieres on CBS January 4.

Paula Abdul is coming back to TV to judge on CBS’s Got To Dance! It has been a year since her departure from American Idol and I don’t know about you, but I have missed her. American Idol is just not the same without Paula and her craziness. So I am thrilled to here she is coming back to TV.

It had been rumored that Paula would join Simon Cowell on his upcoming show The X-Factor, but I guess she had other plans in mind. This show is going to feature all styles of dance and that is right where Paula shines. I can’t wait to tune in.
