McDreamy may not know how to make a marriage last on Grey’s Anatomy — but Patrick Dempsey sure does!
“Love, humor and communication — those are the bedrocks of a good relationship,” the Versace-clad Dempsey, 42, told Usmagazine.com Monday at the NYC premiere of his wedding-themed romantic comedy Made of Honor.
He plays a compulsive womanizer in the comedy, but he insisted the character’s “nothing like me at all — I’m married and have kids!”
Of wife Jillian, the father-of-three said, “She’s immensely supportive. Without her, I wouldn’t be here.”
So does Dempsey — who recently revealed he has pec envy — have any funny memories from their 1999 nuptials?
“The photographers were just drunk and never got a good picture!” he joked.

Patrick Dempsey discovered fame has its benefits after escaping a speeding ticket in Hollywood when a traffic cop recognised him as the star of Grey’s Anatomy.
The hunky star was racing to get to an interview on time when a cop pulled him over. But he discovered that driving a Porsche GT3RS and starring in a top TV show can get you out of a lot of trouble.
He recalls, “The cop was really cool. He said, ‘At least you’re driving the Porsche properly’. He said ‘Oh, I know you!’ and I got out of it.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey was forced to wear a kilt for new movie Made of Honor – but had to shun tradition and put on some underwear, after his private parts were attacked by insects.
The actor was filming in Scotland and was happy to don the country’s native dress, which is often worn without undergarments.
Dempsey was determined to wear his kilt in an authentic manner, but found himself covered in bites from local winged flies – forcing him to go back to wearing underwear to protect his most delicate area.
He says, “I wore a kilt for the wedding scenes, but had to wear something underneath. I tried nothing but I was bitten all over by midges.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey has quit smoking on the eve of the launch of a new cancer treatment centre he has funded in his home town.
The actor has donated $250,000 of his own money to a new cancer centre at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. And, as he planned to cut the ribbon on the new Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing on 31 March, the actor decided it was time to stop smoking.
And he’s already a fervent anti-smoker. The 42-year-old says, “The thought of smoking now is absolutely ridiculous and I think more people have to quit smoking. “There was a defining moment (for me); I remember being outside and I took a puff and I was like, ‘You know what, it doesn’t taste good anymore to me. This is not what I want to do, and it stopped.”

Patrick Dempsey may not be a real doctor, but that isn’t stopping him from helping save lives!
Yesterday, the Grey’s Anatomy star, 42, gave the Central Maine Medical Center — in his hometown of Lewiston — $250,000 for a spanking new cancer center.
The CMMC has special meaning for Dr. McDreamy: Not only was he born in the hospital, but his mom, Amanda, has been treated there twice for ovarian cancer, which is now in remission.
Dubbed The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, the facility opens March 31. Oh, and one more heartwarming note: the center will be managed by Patrick’s sister, Mary Dempsey!

The self-confessed serial monogamist tells ET, “I love romance, absolutely.” But the “Grey’s Anatomy” star, who has been married for eight years, admits that his proposal to wife Jillian was done “poorly.” “We just bought this house and we were in the middle of remodeling it and the kitchen was a mess,” he explains. “I kept giving her this line where I had to find the right ring, and I finally found it while she was gone and I couldn’t wait, so I popped the question in the kitchen!”
Patrick Dempsey says he is looking forward to reuniting with his “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars when they return to work, “I’m glad the strike is over. It was nice to take a break and take a deep breath, spend time with my family. We had some date nights. I really needed that. It’s been good for me, but I’m glad were going back to work.”
On what’s in store for the rest of the season, “I think we’ll probably do four or five episodes and that will be the end of the season.”
