Over at Grey’s Anatomy, which recently saw original cast member Katherine Heigl exit, the key cast members, including Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey also have deals through next season. Sources say that at least Dempsey may not want to continue on the show beyond that.

Of course, as an ensemble medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy may reinvent itself and continue with new central characters the way ER did through a series of cast departures. Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy, both of which launched during the 2004-05 season, are down in the ratings by double digits this season but continue to be ABC’s top scripted series along with departing Lost, also from the 2004-05 freshman class.

Disney is keen on bringing another installment of “Enchanted” to the bigscreen — perhaps as early as next year — after the 2007 pic, which starred Amy Adams, James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey and Susan Sarandon, earned more than $340 million worldwide. It earned $123 million domestically and helped Adams break out.

First film had languished in development for years as filmmakers like Sonnenfeld struggled with a way to tackle its comedic tone, musical numbers and blend of animation and live-action sequences.

Fletcher is a choreographer-turned-director who has had a string of hits with “Step Up,” “27 Dresses” and romantic comedy “The Proposal,” the latter of which earned $315 million worldwide for Disney last summer.

“Enchanted 2″ fits perfectly with the studio’s plans to make more movies that define the Disney brand. Project is Disney’s riff on its classic fairy-tale features, revolving around Giselle, a princess who is banished from her animated world by an evil queen and thrown onto the live-action streets of Manhattan to fend for herself.

Studio will likely try to bring back the first film’s stars.

Don’t expect to get a Valentine from Patrick Dempsey.

“I’ve never really believed in Valentine’s Day,” he tells Reader’s Digest.

But just because the 44-year-old actor — who appears in the upcoming Valentine’s Day (out Feb. 12) — doesn’t like the holiday, it doesn’t mean he’s not romantic.

“You’re anxious about buying the right gift, but it’s really about your heart, not a TV commercial for De Beers diamonds,” he attests. “The best Valentine’s Days are magical and spontaneous and just sort of unfold.”

Fans of the Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy, however, can’t compete with his wife, makeup artist Jillian, whom he says embodies everything he looks for in a woman.

“A sense of humor, strength, and, oh God, understanding,” he says.

Dempsey — who has three children with Jill, whom he married nearly 11 years ago — also recalls his first kiss with “the girl behind home plate” when he was just a kid.

“I was in fifth or sixth grade and very nervous, intimidated, and unsure,” he says. “Girls are all-consuming at that age.”
