Joel Madden is battling to lose the weight he gained while his girlfriend Nicole Richie was pregnant with their baby daughter Harlow.

While Richie had good reason to eat for two, the Good Charlotte adopted the same diet and piled on the pounds.

Five months after the January, Richie is shedding her baby weight, and Madden is dieting too.

He says, “I gained weight when Nicole was pregnant. I was eating whatever she ate: pasta, pizza. I’m still a few pounds away from being back in shape.”

But he insists the socialite isn’t putting him under pressure to slim: “She doesn’t care how I look as long as I’m happy.”

Though Nicole Richie’s 2005 plans to wed Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein fell apart a while ago, she held on to a special souvenir: the vintage Halston dress she wore to her engagement party. But now she’s ready to let it go — to your closet!

The gorgeous gold gown — worth more than $10,000 — is being sold at the chic consignment store Fisch for The Hip in New York. At size 0, it may not fit the average shopper, but it’s being sold for the relatively bargain price of $3,000.

“Nicole loved this dress. It’s a piece of art and she was so excited to wear it for her engagement party to Adam,” says an insider, pointing out that because Nicole is now with Joel Madden, father of her baby daughter, Harlow, “It was time for a change, obviously.”

Nicole, 26, is reportedly shopping for a new Beverly Hills home with Joel. They just bought a condo in NYC, too.

Joel Madden has penned a blog message to fans and friends to deny reports he and girlfriend Nicole Richie have just wed.

The Good Charlotte star admits to feeling “really stupid” by addressing the gossip but felt he had to do something when upset pals started calling him asking why he’d failed to invite them to his nuptials.

He writes, “I’ve been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren’t invited to my wedding. I guess the only answer I could give them was that I didn’t know we were having one. I just found out that star magazine (U.S. publication) wrote some story about a 2 million dollar wedding we are supposed to be having, and that’s (sic) where it came from.

“Sooooo if you were pissed at me for not inviting you or even telling you, dont blame me, theres (sic) nothing to worry about. Its just star magazine. How long do you think it will be before they write we called it off, or we broke up? i give them a week or two…”

Nicole Richie lived The Simple Life, but the same can’t be said for her father, Lionel.

The singer was honored with the Icon trophy at the TV Land Awards over the weekend and told his peers it’s his not his music career that ought to be admired, but rather how he endured life with Nicole!

”Forget about surviving 40 years in the music business. Just surviving 27 years of Nicole Richie has been a struggle-and-a-half, I want to tell you,” Lionel joked. “I stand here as a survivor, I want you to know, for all the parents out there.”

Indeed the 58-year-old has been through a lot with his daughter, who infamously battled alcohol and substance abuse and served an 82-minute stint in jail last summer for a DUI.

After that, it was all about new beginnings though — Nicole and Joel Madden welcomed daughter Harlow in January and, according to “G-Pa” Lionel, everything changed.

“She went from, ‘Dad, I don’t care. Whatever you say.’ to ‘Wash your hands, dad.’ and ‘Be quiet, dad,’ ” he says. “It’s a whole new sound of the house.”
