Nicole Richie is returning to the small screen – in a TV adaptation of her novel The Truth About Diamonds.

The socialite published her first tome in 2005, which follows its main character’s struggles through life.

Richie has not confirmed whether she will star in the show as its lead character Chloe Parker – the adopted daughter of a music superstar who struggles with sobriety and friendships with other Hollywood starlets.

She tells E!. “I would definitely produce and definitely be in the show. I don’t know if I need to be the star of this show. I’ve got a lot going on right now.”

Richie gave birth to her first child, daughter Harlow, in January with Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden.

Paris Hilton has once again fuelled reports she’s in a bitter battle for media attention with pal Nicole Richie – after allegedly making plans to have a baby.

The socialite has admitted she would love to start a family with Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden – the twin brother of Richie’s boyfriend Joel.

Richie gave birth to her first child, daughter Harlow, in January with Joel, and according to the New York Post, Hilton is ready for motherhood – in an attempt to reclaim her spotlight.

A source tells the newspaper, “She’s jealous of all the attention Nicole Richie has been getting and knows she’s fallen off in the (tabloids) lately. A baby would put her back in the news.”

Paris Hilton is upset at all of the recent gossip from Page Six saying that she has made a nuisance out of herself by moving into the neighborhood of Nicole Richie and the Madden brothers.

So, she’s taken to her myspace blog to clear up the rumors:

“Hey guys, hope you all had a great weekend. Once again, I am blown away by more lies that are going around, and wanted to clear them up with all of you. I’m sick of Page Six and other gossip sites printing completely false stories. It’s not fair because these lies then spread like wildfire online and people begin to believe they are true, just because they read the same story on so many different sites. I am tired of not commenting on the rumors I hear and I think it’s fair for you to know the truth.

From now on I plan to address these when they come to my attention. I still do not know why these stories get so much circulation–they cross the line between silly tabloid gossip into hateful speculating. They involve completely false rumors about not only what I allegedly do, but about the people in my personal life and family.

Page Six reported that I have moved into Benji’s neighborhood, and that Nicole is upset by this…SO NOT TRUE! First of all, I don’t even live in Glendale. Secondly, I have my own home in a gated community in Beverly Hills–that’s where I live. I haven’t been to Glendale in months. Where do they come up with this?

As most of you know, I moved away from my old–and very accessible–house because I was sick and tired of constant invasion of my private life. I love my fans but I could not leave for a meeting or walk my dog without a camera pushing inside my front door on to personal property. I feel so much happier and safer in my new home. I’ve been renovating it for the past year and totally made it my style. I’ve seen pictures online that are supposedly the inside of my new home, but they’re not. Those pictures were taken off a private real estate site from the previous owners’ interior. The house looks so much different and it underwent such a big transformation into my dream home. I couldn’t be happier!

So anyway, back to what I was saying: I am thankful that I know who my true friends and colleagues are, and I encourage my fans to ignore worthless stories like this. There is too much going on in the world, and in your own lives, to waste time reading lies. Such a disappointment but as always, you’ll get the true story from me!

New mom Nicole Richie is constantly cooing over her love of suburban life – at least she was until best friend Paris Hilton moved in next door.

Richie lives with baby daddy Joel Madden in Glendale, Calif., and Joel’s twin brother, Benji Madden, who now dates Hilton, lives next door.

Friends of Richie told Page Six recently, “Nicole moved out there to get away from the paparazzi, but when Paris calls them they come to her quiet street and disrupt everything. She’s getting a little fed up.”

Nicole Richie has refuted reports she was recently involved in an altercation in a Las Vegas hotel.

Reports emerged the 26-year-old had been escorted from the city’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino following an argument with an unidentified women over a taxi while spending the weekend in Sin City.

But a spokesman for the star tells TMZ.com, “She was in Vegas but there wasn’t an altercation of any kind involving her.”

Nicole Richie could be set for a full-time acting career after impressing co-stars and bosses during her recent sitcom guest spot.

The reality TV star began shooting her cameo in Chuck last week – accompanied on set by baby daughter Harlow – playing the high school nemesis of regular character Sarah, played by Yvonne Strahovski.

And she is being tipped to return by sources on the show. An insider tells People.com, “It was fantastic. She was friendly. Everybody loved her. She has a great fight scene.”

The episode will air in October.
