Nicolas Cage is suing Kathleen Turner over allegations that she made against him in her autobiography.
A spokesperson for the actor confirmed that libel proceedings have been issued against Turner at the High Court in London.
In her new book, Send Yourself Roses, Turner alleges that Cage caused problems during Peggie Sue Got Married in a bid to prove that he won the role on his own merit rather than because his uncle was the director.
She also claims that the actor was arrested for drink driving and had stolen a Chihuahua.
Cage has refuted the claims previously, saying that the credibility of Turner’s autobiography and memory is at stake.

Nicolas Cage has snapped up a $8 million house in the picturesque English city of Bath, adding to the actor’s increasing property portfolio.
Cage, 43, uses Hancock Park Real Estate to negotiate his deals worldwide, with the stunning house in Bath the latest on his list.
The home, which is a Georgian townhouse on The Circus, the famous and highly prestigious curved street in Bath, boasts an array of rooms, a grand staircase and an indoor swimming pool.
The 9,000 sq ft house also has a 30ft kitchen with a large garden and is within walking distance of the historic city’s beautiful centre.
However, Cage is not expected to live in the home, despite splashing out $8 million for it. One resident in the street told the Daily Mail: “We’re told he has bought it, but don’t think we’ll see him here.
“Our daughter saw him in the Circus six months ago.”

From ET:
Sources tell ET that NICOLE KIDMAN was taken to a hospital after being involved in an accident on the set of her latest film, ‘The Invasion.’
The actress and her co-star, child actor JACKSON BOND, were shooting a chase scene when a stunt driver lost control while turning a corner on slick pavement. The street had been wet down with water before the scene. Their Jaguar crashed into a pole and hit a garbage can.
Two crew members who were strapped to the top of the Jag were also involved, but no injuries were reported.
Nicole and the other performers were taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries.

Nicolas Cage has announced plans to curtail his future acting endeavors in order to pursue interests outside of the realm of Tinseltown. The Oscar winner made the semi-retirement announcement over the weekend at the third annual Bahamas International Film Festival. “I’m thinking about taking more time in between movies,” the 42-year-old actor told the Associated Press. “I feel I’ve made a lot of movies already and I want to start exploring other opportunities that I can apply myself to, whether it’s writing or other interests that I may develop.” While Cage may be reducing his workload, he was quick to note he’s not taking himself out of the Hollywood game completely. The World Trade Center star, who has appeared in more than 55 films over his three-decade career, currently has eight movies in the pipeline including National Treasure II next Christmas.
