2013 MET Gala goes PUNK (Part 1)!

Probably one of my favorite annual celebrity parties is the Met Gala. I LOVE it. If you follow me on Facebook – you probably noticed that last night (if you’re not, then shame on you – you’re missing the fun!)

Every year, Anna Wintour picks a theme for the Gala, and this year the theme went punk! “PUNK: Chaos To Couture” Costume Institute Gala was held at the MET Museum in New York City last night.

Above we have Beyonce, who showed up in head-to-toe Givenchy (who seems like the hot designer last night!). What do you think of her look? Too matchy-matchy?

Kristen Stewart wore a pantsuit by Stella McCartney. I think it could be really beautiful, if it didn’t look like she was rocking a bad case of moose knuckles. (Her makeup is HOT, though.)

Miley Cyrus certainly ran with the theme! She wore a mesh gown by Marc Jacobs, and that hair! Wow!

Of course everyone was talking about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The couple both wore outfits by Givenchy. Most of my fans on Facebook commented that Kim looks like a couch, and that’s probably one of the nicer things to say. Yes, she’s wearing gloves in the same fabric as her dress. There is nothing punk about her look, either.

EVERYONE was shocked to see Anne Hathaway’s red carpet look! She wore a see-through vintage Valentino gown from 1992, but everyone was shocked by her now-platinum hair! What do you think of her look?

Katy Perry went regal with the help of Dolce & Gabbana. She looks great, very cool. Again, not punk – but still – she looks hot!

I’m just getting started!

I have all the pictures you need – come with me after the jump – and step into the world of PUNK! (more…)

Nicki Minaj thinks her American Idol judging skills are spectacular.

Nicki Minaj is her biggest fan!

When asked during a conference call what she thought of her American Idol performance as a judge she tooted her own horn and gave herself a pat on the back.

“My best and worst Idol moments? I don’t have a worst Idol moment,” the 30-year-old rapper said. “I’ve been spectacular. Yes, I am going to toot my own horn. And then my best moment is every single moment. I’ll toot it again!”

Minaj, who showed up 13 minutes late for the first live show of season 12, explained that she’s stayed true to herself since auditions began in September 2012. She also acknowledged that her candid commentary doesn’t always sit well with contestants, viewers or even her fellow judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.

“I didn’t know what to expect going in to the show. I was so nervous. I had a lot of anxiety. I felt like, ‘Okay, I know everybody’s just going to hate me,’” she recalled. “There were moments in the audition process that I would say to the producers, ‘I can’t do this anymore. If everyone is going to give a good critique and I’m going to be the only one being honest, then America is going to hate me. I’m going to be seen as mean.’ And the producers said, ‘Nicki, trust us, America is going to appreciate the honesty.’ And that’s all I had to go on.”

She added, “When I’m laughing on the show, I’m genuinely laughing. I can’t come up there and pretend. I just can’t do it. I can’t be someone I’m not. I can’t sit there with a phony smile on my face; I can’t do it. I’m happy that people are responding well to it. I mean, if I’m polarizing, I’m polarizing! I don’t know. But I definitely didn’t have a preconceived notion of who I was going to be on that panel.”

When asked if she’d return for the FOX show’s thirteenth season, the “Pound the Alarm” rapper refused to give a direct answer. “I like to save the mystery and the drama. I never give that away, but you know what? I always say this — and I mean this from the bottom of my heart — the people behind the scenes at Idol have been a dream to work with and I really, really honestly mean that. [FOX exec] Mike Darnell took a chance on me. Nobody else understood it. They were like, ‘Nicki who?’ and he took a chance on me. He believed in me. His daughter and his wife believed in me, and so I’m just super grateful to have been given the opportunity.”

What do you think of Nicki Minaj on American Idol? Do you think she’s as good as she thinks she is?

Nicki Minaj undergoes a drastic makeunder for the April issue of Elle!

Nicki Minaj covers the April issue of ELLE magazine, on newsstands nationwide 3/26. She opens up to the magazine about facing childhood bullies, her advice for women in business, and her plans for world domination. A dramatic make-under for Nicki, the shots were done with minimal makeup and no over-the-top wigs. I think you’ll agree- she really shines.

On her dramatic make-under for her ELLE photo shoot:

“When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I’m so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it’s hard. I feel that it’s become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes- you know, nothing – I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”

On experiencing bullying in school as a child:

“I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I’ve always put up this wall – it was a self-defense mechanism growing up – because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It’s sad.”

Her advice for women on how to command respect:

“My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want- and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That’s what it’s all about.”

On her plans for world domination:

“My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I’m thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination- in terms of providing for my family – is absolutely my goal.”

I think she looks so much better like this! She looks much more beautiful when she’s made down a bit.
