Nick Lachey is returning to his roots.

The former Newlyweds star is executive producing a pilot for an MTV reality show, which the network describes as a version of the ’80s movie and TV show Fame, according to The Hollwood Reporter.

The yet-to-be-named program focuses on students at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Lachey’s alma mater. (Sarah Jessica Parker and Carmen Electra are also famous former students.)

“The stories and relationships are all set to music that’s organic to what’s going on in the school and also performed by the kids,” Tony DiSanto, executive VP of series development and programming at the network, tells the Reporter. “This is a genre-busting, creative experiment that I’m really excited about.”

As an example DiSanto said a scene could feature kids breaking into dance in the cafeteria, which sounds a lot like a real-life High School Musical, or the soundtrack could come from a scene in which a student is practicing his or her instrument.

Lachey, who proposed the project, is executive producing it with Marc Platt and Russell Heldt.

Pop star Nick Lachey will have to pluck up courage and propose to his girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo if he wants to spend his life with the TV presenter-turned-actress – because she’s too traditional to pop the question.

Insiders claim Minnillo is ready to become Lachey’s second wife, but she would never follow Hollywood trends and ask her man to wed her.

She says, “I know that a lot of girls nowadays are proposing to guys, but I think I’ll be old-fashioned. I’ll be old and grey before I propose.”

Pop star Nick Lachey has denied rumours he married his TV presenter girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo this weekend. On Saturday, Fox News claimed the couple – who have been dating since April 2006 – were due to exchange vows in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas, but the stories have now been dismissed as speculation.

According to reports, Fox was said to have made up the story.

Nick Lachey has popped the question to gorgeous girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo- & the couple plan to marry this spring.

“They’re moving forward with plans for an April wedding,” a close friend told The ENQUIRER. The engagement comes slightly more than a year after Nick, 33, & Jessica Simpson announced their split. Now Nick and Vanessa are mulling destinations for their wedding and honeymoon, disclosed a friend.

“Since they both love Baja, Mexico, it will probably happen south of the border, where they first fell in love.”

Exciting!!!  TEAM LACHEY!!!  I don’t know how much I love Vanessa, but I’m so glad Nick is moving on & now Jessica will see what she’s lost.  We all know the thing with Tony Romo won’t last.

I don’t know why, but I find Nick & Vanessa extremely boring.  I just don’t care about these two!  I figured some of you probably would like these pictures, so I posted them anyway. If I see these two in their own Christmas special, I’m gonna flip!!

In their exclusive interview and photo shoot with OK!, Nick & Vanessa open up about Christmas traditions in their home. “My dad plays the Beach Boys and Ray Charles Christmas albums,” says Vanessa, while Nick’s favorite things to do are, “putting up the tree, watching football, eating leftovers and going to midnight service on Christmas Eve with my grandparents.”

As for marriage, Vanessa says, “I’m not going to put a time on things and say I’m going to do this by this time. We’re happy today — no pressure for tomorrow.”

“We’re trying to start our own traditions,” Vanessa says. “The day after Thanksgiving, we were in L.A. and we put up the tree, drank eggnog, put on Christmas carols… and it was 91 degrees! We were putting up stockings while sweating!”

“He drops chocolate & chili on the carpet a lot,” Vanessa reveals about her beau’s worst habit.

“I feel like I’m getting to know a whole new side of Nick,” Vanessa explains. “I can’t even think things anymore because he already knows what I’m thinking about!”
