Just as Joe Jonas is showing the world he’s happily dating Demi Lovato, another Jonas brother finds himself single: Nick Jonas and his on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez have called it quits, a source confirms to People.

Though the couple never publicly confirmed they rekindled their relationship, the source says, “They were an item, but they are no longer together.”

According to the source, the Disney Channel stars, both 17, broke up in early March, largely because work was going to keep them apart: Gomez is scheduled to film a movie in Europe this summer, while Jonas is expected to tour with his siblings at the same time.

Though they are no longer romantically involved, “it’s evident to everyone that they will always have a super strong connection,” says the source.

Since the split, Jonas has been filming his show Jonas, and Gomez has also tried to distract herself with her active work schedule, which includes designing a clothing line for Kmart and promoting her album Kiss & Tell in Spain and France.

“It’s never fun to go through a breakup,” says the source, “but Selena has a lot of friends she’s leaning on for support.”

A New Musician Friend
One friend Gomez has been spending a lot of time with: Cameron Quiseng, 19, bass player in the new boy band Allstar Weekend.

On March 23, Quiseng joined Gomez and her BFF Taylor Swift and Glee’s Cory Monteith for what appeared to be a double date. Gomez also posted a Twitter pic of herself and Quiseng after another bowling outing on March 16, with the note, “I won.”

In November, Allstar Weekend opened for Gomez when she performed at the House of Blues in Anaheim and in San Diego, and since then the band of four friends from San Diego has been featured on Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing and toured with Emily Osment. Their album is due for release June 22.

Touring with Nick Jonas was an eye-opening experience for Diane Birch.

Thanks to the teen idol’s rabid fans, the retro-pop singer-songwriter, 27, says she witnessed something “similar to Beatlemania” while on the road with Jonas, 17, earlier this year.

“I was really surprised at the craziness of the fans and how insane they are – and how genuinely sweet,” says the retro-pop singer-songwriter, 27, whose song “Valentino” is on the movie soundtrack to the upcoming Valentine’s Day. “They would spend hours in the freezing cold just to catch a glimpse of him.”

Birch logged some indoor quality with Jonas, whom she calls “super normal and super sweet.” And also very mature: “The first thing that really surprised me was how much of a leader and how much of a showman he was onstage,” she tells People. Offstage, she says, he’s “very quiet and serious.”

When not performing, the pair swapped “funny stories” during lunch breaks and even worked on a duet. “We spent a lot of time one day in his dressing room just playing around. I was playing keyboard and he was playing guitar and we were just trying to work out something, and that was pretty fun,” she recalls.

Another highlight? Meeting fellow Jonas Brothers Joe, 20, and Kevin, 22, who came to one of their New York City shows. “They were so nice and down-to-earth,” she says. “To just see how normal they are, it was really cool.”

Birch also learned about a Jonas family tradition when Joe gave her boyfriend, art director and model Ariel Stark-Benz, a backstage embrace.

“We went to say goodbye and my boyfriend went to shake his hand and Joe gave him a hug. [It was] kind of awkward, and Joe was like, ‘We’re a hugging kind of family.’ It was really cute. Every time I saw them they were hugging and just really friendly.”

Nick’s brothers weren’t the only famous faces to pop up backstage.

Selena Gomez, Nick’s one-time – and rumored to be current – girlfriend “was there part of the time,” reveals Birch. “She seemed really cool. I think she’s pretty close to the family.”

Even though the tour with Jonas has ended, Birch hopes to hit the road again, this time to Europe to promote her CD Bible Belt.

Jonas, meanwhile, just released Who I Am, his first album with Nick Jonas & The Administration.

Nick Jonas has assured fans he is recovering well after a mystery illness forced him to cancel a weekend gig with his new band.

The 17-year-old has been touring the U.S. with his new group, Nick Jonas and The Administration, but they axed a gig in Denver, Colorado on Sunday because the star was feeling unwell.

But the teenager has taken to his Facebook page to tell fans he is on the road to recovery.

He says, “I am feeling much better! To everyone in Denver, thanks so much for all the well wishes and I apologize again that this has happened.”

The band performed in Los Angeles as scheduled on Tuesday night.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s 14-year-old son fell hard for Miley Cyrus while he was on the set of her hit Disney show Hannah Montana. Connor, who played Will Smith as a boy in last year’s Seven Pounds, wants to be an actor.

“Tom thought it would be a good experience for him to see how other performers around his age work,” an insider tells Star. “It started as business — but Miley was so sweet, Connor couldn’t help having feelings for her!”

While Miley, 16, told Elle magazine that she thinks Connor is “really cute,” the younger man shouldn’t get his hopes up. After dumping 20-year-old boyfriend Justin Gaston, Miley hooked back up with ex Nick Jonas, 16!

Nick Jonas’ 16th birthday present puppy came with a surprise of its own – the pooch is riddled with parasites.

Jonas was handed the Golden Retriever pup, he has named Elvis, on Tuesday as a gift from his famous siblings, and he has been spotted out walking his new best friend near his Hollywood home.

But he quickly discovered the responsibilities of owning a dog when he had to seek out a vet on Wednesday morning.

The Jonas Brothers star cleared top Hollywood animal doctor Jeff Werber’s schedule after discovering the cute puppy has ticks.

One of the vets’ regulars, who was awaiting a session with Werber, says, “We were told we’d all have to wait a little longer because a celebrity was bringing his dog in. It turned out to be Nick Jonas, who came in through a private back entrance. I gather his Golden Retriever has a tick problem and Nick was coming in for medication.”

Nick Jonas has a new best friend: a golden retriever named Elvis.

The pup was a birthday gift from his family, according to the band’s rep. The youngest member of the Jonas Brothers band, who turned 16 on Tuesday, named the pup for two of his favorite musicians, Elvis Costello and Elvis Presley.

Though the band has been busy working on its upcoming film, Jonas Brothers 3-D Concert Movie (which will open Feb. 22, 2009), Nick still made time for Elvis on Tuesday, taking him for a walk around his L.A. neighborhood.

Miley Cyrus has broken her silence about her relationship with Nick Jonas – proclaiming her love for her ex-boyfriend in a new magazine interview.

Jonas is rumoured to have moved on from his romance with 15-year-old Cyrus after hinting at a relationship with fellow Disney star Selena Gomez, 16.

But Cyrus is holding on to hopes she and Jonas will rekindle their romance, despite ending their relationship last year (07).
She tells Seventeen magazine, “We became boyfriend and girlfriend the day we met. He was on a quest to meet me, and he was like, ‘I think you’re beautiful and I really like you.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I like you so much.’ Nick and I loved each other. We still do, but we were in love with each other.”

Cyrus adds of the break-up: “At first I bawled for a month straight. I was so sad. I just went into this weird funk. And I dyed my hair black. When we were dating, Nick wanted me to get highlights – and so I did that, and I got myself looking great. And then, on the day we broke up, I was like, I want to make my hair black now – I don’t want to look pretty. I want to look hard-core. I was rebelling against everything Nick wanted me to be. And then I was like, I’ve got to be by myself for now, and just figure out who I really am.”

But the Disney star admits she still has hope of rekindling their romance.

Until then though, she’s playing hard-to-get: “Maybe he’ll be my best friend for the rest of my life or maybe I’ll end up marrying Nick Jonas. Since (the break-up), I’ve realised that I’ve met so many great guys, but I like being the girl nobody can have. No one can touch me, no one’s mine. I’m myself. I think it’s sexy to do your own thing.”
