Mariah Carey, 42, and her husband Nick Cannon, 31, renewed their vows on Friday at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

Spokeswoman Cindi Berger said the couple celebrated with an “intimate ceremony after a romantic dinner at the beautiful Jules Verne restaurant” just after midnight local time.

Carey, and Cannon, married in the Bahamas in 2008 after a whirlwind romance that began just months earlier. Carey gave birth to their twins, son and daughter Moroccan and Monroe, last April.

Cannon was hospitalized in January and later diagnosed with inflammation of the kidneys. He resigned from his New York City radio show in February to help his recovery. Earlier this month, he said he’d document his return to health on his website in a show called NCredible Health Hustle.

Nick Cannon is revealing more information on his latest health problems.

Recently Cannon had been hospitalized after having kidney failure in January only to be hospitalized again just a few weeks later with blood clots in his lungs.

“The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because … I’ve known people who have passed away from that,” he told PEOPLE at New York’s Teqa Restaurant and Tequila Bar, where he was deejaying an event Wednesday night.

“I thought I was getting better,” said Cannon, 31, “and then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere.”

Cannon, who stepped down from his New York-based radio show in February to continue his recovery, said doctors have told him his kidney condition is “something I’m going to be living with all my life.”

“I’m just trying to make sure I put my health first,” he told PEOPLE, adding that he tries to get six hours of sleep a night and has been taking it easy at home.

He also revealed that the kidney disease was a result of an “autoimmune disease that [doctors] found in my system,” and his blood clots were directly connected to his kidney infection.

“It’s a lot of stuff,” said Cannon, “but it’s all in order now.”

When asked by PEOPLE if his condition was hereditary, Cannon said, “They kind of say [my] autoimmune [disease] is – like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it.”

For now, Cannon is just focusing on getting better – as well as on his young family with wife Mariah Carey.

“I feel blessed to be alive,” Cannon said. “If it wasn’t discovered, I don’t know [what would have happened].”

Nick Cannon is so convinced he could die if he doesn’t slow down his career, he quit his day job.

Cannon tweeted this morning, “The Doctors found blood clots in my lungs and said if I don’t slow down and stop working so hard then it’s a wrap!” Doctors also discovered an enlarged ventricle in Nick’s heart.

The 31-year-old singer/DJ announced he’s going to quit his job as the host of “Rolling with Nick Cannon” on 92.3 in NYC.

Cannon  — who will continue his gig with ‘America’s Got Talent’ — released a statement saying, “Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to cut back on some of my professional commitments to allow my body to get the rest it needs to keep up with the demands of my multitasking schedule.”

He added, “Even Superman has to sleep.”

It’s not the first time Cannon has dealt with a medical scare — he was hospitalized last month for kidney failure.

In addition to his “AGT” duties, Cannon said he will also continue his syndicated weekend radio show.

TV host (and probably more importantly) Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon has been rushed to the hospital after suffering from kidney failure!

Mariah Carey Tweeted this picture, urging her fans to ‘pray for Nick’ as he battles this health scare.

The mother-of-twins, 41, posted a photo of herself laying beside an ailing Nick, 31, in his hospital bed in Aspen, Colorado.

But the couple are clearly optimistic he will recover, with Mariah describing his kidney failure as ‘mild’.

Mariah posted news of Nick’s illness in the early hours of this morning.

She wrote: ‘Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure. #mybraveman.’

She then wrote a more detailed description of his medical drama on her official website.

This is us in the hospital – role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are.

We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.

We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”. #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK. I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM.

Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon debuted their twin babies on 20/20, Friday night during an interview with Barbara Walters.

Mariah opened up to Barbara about her difficult pregnancy, and how she does not want any more children. Here’s more from PEOPLE.

“I don’t think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body,” she explained. “It’s not just, oh you don’t look pretty and you have a bump.”

But parenthood certainly seems to suit the couple. “My family gives me everything,” Cannon gushed.

“It’s just love,” Carey said. “It’s a beautiful place to be.”

While dad expects Moroccan and Monroe “to get a PhD,” Carey suggested that she wants them to follow in her footsteps. “They really respond to music,” she said, before singing to the babies in their Manhattan nursery.

Lullabies may come easy for Carey – who brought them into the world to the tune of her song “Fantasy” – but opening herself up to marriage again was a different story.

“I never believe that anybody really likes me,” she admitted after Cannon – who showed off his huge “Mariah” tattoo on his back – told her she’s been his crush from day one. “I always think it’s some kind of joke or something.”

While Carey doesn’t specifically address her music mogul ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, she does say that her failed marriage in 1998 made her hesitant to say “I do” a second time.

“Initially I was afraid of the concept of marriage [again],” she said. “But this is a different situation and a different time in my life.”

Now, Carey insists, “No one will steal my spirit.”

During a sit down interview with Barbara Walters, Mariah and her hubby invited Barbara into their Manhattan home and introduced her to their new additions, Moroccan Scott and Monroe, born April 30.

The Grammy Award winner will also reveal her secrets on how she slimmed down and got back into shape after giving birth to twins. ”She’s so focused right now on every aspect. She’s going to come back and knock out the world,” tells her hubby, Nick Cannon. “She’s getting in shape.”

Nearly six months after their birth we’re finally getting our first look at Moroccan and Monroe – Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s twin son and daughter.

The proud new parents introduced their babies to Barbara Walters during a 20/20 interview at their lavish New York City apartment set to air this Friday (October 21).
