Natascha McElhone has broken her silence about the death of her husband Martin Kelly - by writing a moving tribute to her late spouse in a British newspaper article.

Plastic surgeon Kelly died from fatal heart condition dilated cardiomyopathy, after he was found slumped on the doorstep of the couple’s London home on Tuesday.

The tragic news came just a day after they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

The 38-year-old The Truman Show star, who is pregnant with their third child, had initially refused to comment on Kelly’s passing - but has now opened her heart for The Mail on Sunday, in which she reveals how she is still struggling to come to terms with her devastating loss.

In the article, she says, “I just can’t believe I won’t feel his skin any more, how is that possible? I loved him and touched him every day, and thank goodness I did… I can’t believe that magical, beautiful creature is not here any more. He was too good to be true.
“…He was the most unique father, as well. Always giving our beautiful ‘pups’ the alternate answer to any question, stimulating them, provoking them…

“I could write about him for the rest of my life. The part that saddens me most is that, whatever I can try to give my boys, their world for now has been halved, I cannot become him… I hope my sons will never be daunted by the legacy of his spirit but instead inspired to do exactly what it is they want to do. That was his philosophy, we read it somewhere once: ‘Work hard, expect nothing, celebrate!’”

The actress has halted filming on hit show Californication to fly back to London from Los Angeles with the couple’s two sons Theodore, eight, and Otis, five.

One of Britain’s top cosmetic surgeons and the husband of actress Natascha McElhone has died suddenly aged 42.

Martin Kelly was found slumped on the doorstep of the couple’s £2.5m home in London late last night by a fellow doctor. It is thought he might have had a heart attack.

Californication star Ms McElhone, who is pregnant with the couple’s third child, is rushing back to Britain from the U.S. where she had been filming.

Ms McElhone, 36, has starred in films including Solaris and Ronin and more recently in the television series Californication with David Duchovny.

The couple already have two young children, Theodore, eight, and Otis, five. Friends said that the actress is “devastated”.

Her husband was known as the “king of rhinoplasty” in surgical circles but was also an avid charity worker with his own foundation to help children born with deformities.

Ms McElhone’s stepfather, the media pundit Roy Greenslade, who married her mother Noreen in 1984, said the family were in a state of shock.

He said: “It’s still a mystery about the death. It’s so unexpected. Such a fit, handsome, fighting fit young man of 42. So we are in a bit of a terrible state to be honest.

“I obviously will be in touch with Martin’s closest medical colleagues who were dealing with the crisis and will try and find out what’s going on.

“It’s just completely baffling. A medical colleague was on hand, so he had the best possible chance but was just unable to revive him.

“There was no indication, not in the least. He was a great rider, a great skier, and he was just a fit, fit, kind of chap.”

Mr Greenslade said he and his wife, who live in Ireland, would be travelling to London to be with the rest of the family.

He revealed Mr Kelly and his step-daughter were about to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and had enjoyed a “fairytale” relationship.

”He was a truly magnificent man as a surgeon, as a father and as a husband,” he said.

“As well as being a brilliant doctor, he painted, wrote his own music as well as being a great sportsman. He was a true Renaissance man.”
