And The Nominees For The MTV VMA’s Are…

The MTV VMA’s are coming up soon. September 12, 2110 to be exact and the nominees have been announce. Lady Gaga has been nominated for an impressive 13 VMA’s.

Eminem is a close second with 8 nominations for his album Recovery.

Lady Gaga had this to say about her 13 nominations.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” she said. “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13.”

“A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules,” she went on. “God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”

Eminem also had a statement, although his was, er, a little less enthusiastic.

“Apparently MTV doesn’t care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?! I mean, I’ll be there, but don’t expect me to be nice about it.”

Ke$ha recieved 3 nominations and was beyond thrilled. Here’s what she had to say.

Cops launch probe regarding Erykah Badu’s Window Seat video

Erykah Badu could now face criminal charges, after Dallas cops received a formal complaint over her naked music video shoot.

The video for “Window Seat” was shot guerrilla-style in Dealey Plaza — where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Cops say a Texas woman lodged the complaint yesterday with police, after she and her mother saw Erykah shooting the video completely naked.

Cops say the incident is officially under investigation and the singer could face several charges, including disorderly conduct.

No word if any backup singers were spotted on the grassy knoll.

Erykah Badu Defends Her Controversial Music Video

Erykah Badu says her buzzed-about new music video, in which she strips off her clothes and references the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, has been “grossly misinterpreted by many.”

The singer and native of Dallas, who is raising her three children there, Tweeted: “I would never disrespect JFK. his revolutionary thinking is my inspiration. my performance art has been grossly misinterpreted by many.”

The video for her song “Window Seat,” which was filmed on March 17 and has been pulled from several sites, shows Badu stripping as she walks along a sidewalk in Dallas’s Dealey Plaza, now a popular tourist attraction. After Badu removes all of her clothing, she feigns being shot in the head, falling to the ground near where Kennedy was fatally wounded on Nov. 22, 1963.

Badu, 39, gave a play-by-play account of the shoot on Twitter, posting, “There were children there. i prayed they wouldnt b traumatized.” In addition, onlookers were “yelling, THIS IS A PUBLIC PLACE : YOU OUGHTA BE ASHAMED : PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON : DAMN GIRL! etc…”

And 64 percent of People.com readers polled agreed with those onlookers, voting that Badu went too far with her video.

General Larry Platt’s ‘Pants on the Ground’ Involved in Lawsuit

Say it ain’t so! American Idol’s favorite general, Larry Platt, is being sued over his big audition hit, “Pants on the Ground,” TMZ reports.

A company called American King Music is saying they gave the General money for a recording session with rapper/producer Mims in order to turn out a full-length version of the song Larry made famous on Idol.

TMZ says American King claims in the lawsuit, filed in Atlanta, that Larry and his reps, “failed to take care of Platt’s obligations.”

Now, American King is suing over the music distribution agreement and expenses related to producing, writing and recording of the single.

TMZ cites Larry’s manager, Pinky, who insists he’d never signed a contract with the music company. However, American King thinks they should get 50 percent of Larry’s profits from iTunes.

Dave Grohl Eyes Actress to Play Him in Kurt Cobain Biopic

The proposed Kurt Cobain biopic will undoubtedly proceed without his blessing, but Dave Grohl, former Nirvana band mate and Foo Fighters frontman, is taking a stand when it comes to who should portray him.

“I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m crossing my fingers that Shelley Duvall plays me,” the musician deadpans to People. And though it may seem to be an odd choice for casting directors, Grohl explains why the actress made famous by being chased around by an ax-weilding Jack Nicholson is the right “man” for the job.

“Shelley Duvall in The Shining …” he says, laughing. “That is MY face, you cannot get any closer than that.”

It takes a confident man, or at least a guy a with a sense of humor to insist that he be portrayed by the very same actress who played Olive Oil opposite Robin Williams in 1980′s Popeye, but as far as Grohl sees it, his reasoning is sound. “I am probably the least manly dude that you have ever met in your life,” the rocker says during the Milk+Bookies Story Time Celebration in Los Angeles, “So why not have Shelley Duvall play me?”

Furthermore, as Grohl is quick to point out, it wouldn’t be the first time a female actress stepped in to play the role of rock icon. “Put a beard on her, ” he says. “Cate Blanchett did it in the Dylan movie!”
