MTV is bringing back it’s hidden-camera prank classic, ‘Punk’d’. The network has ordered a new version, with Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher on board as executive producers.

MTV plans to announce the show’s host/hosts during its New Years Eve party live telecast next week. Access Hollywood reported months ago that a new show was in the works, using different celebrity hosts for each episode — and noting in the premiere that Justin Bieber is the man in the van.

MTV wouldn’t confirm any details about the show. But it’s fair to assume that Kutcher himself, now costarring on CBS’ Two and a Half Men, won’t likely be on camera. And an announcement with details about the show is firmly tied to the network’s NYE in NYC 2012 telecast on Dec. 31.

Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey of MTV’s Teen Wolf will host the holiday special with musical performances by host Demi Lovato, along with Selena Gomez, J Cole, Jason Derulo, and Mac Miller from MTV’s Times Square studio.

What do you think about ‘Punk’d’ coming back? I didn’t mind the show – for the first little bit. After a while, it got old… same ol’ schtick. If they could freshen it up a bit – I think it would do pretty well!

Unless – they actually do sign Bieber as the host. Then I can’t watch.

Tonya Cooley, from MTV’s ‘The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins’ claims she was the victim of assault while filming.

Tonya claims male members of the cast acted like animals, and in one instance, raped her with a toothbrush. And now she’s suing.

Tonya Cooley filed the suit against MTV, Bunim/Murray Productions, Kenneth Santucci, Evan Starkman and others … claiming the two guys “took another male participant’s toothbrush and rubbed the toothbrush around plaintiff’s genitals, including rubbing her labia and inserting the toothbrush into plaintiff’s vagina.”

Cooley says it all happened while she was passed out cold … and cameras were rolling

Cooley says producers not only knew about the rape, they even replaced the toothbrush, but never told her what happened.

The suit also claims female cast members were stripped of their bathing suits and that male cast members were encouraged by producers to “inappropriately touch female cast members’ bodies, including in intimate areas.”

Cooley alleges she and other cast members reported incidents of sexual abuse, but show honchos turned a blind eye.

Cooley claims she was later booted from the show after slapping a cast member. She says nothing happened to the men who allegedly raped her.

Cooley is suing for unspecified damages. Calls to MTV have not been returned.

We made several calls to Bunim/Murray for comment, but each time we called … the receptionist hung up on us.

Snooki must be selling copies, because the guidette just released her second book in less than a year. In January she released ‘A Shore Thing’, and this month she’s releasing her second book, ‘Confessions of a Guidette’.

I can’t imagine that she has enough in her to write one book – let alone two. What on earth is she talking about!? And better yet – who’s buying this crap?

She went on the Today Show yesterday and was interviewed by Matt Lauer. She talks about how it’s possible for her to be a role model. Please. For who!?

Nicole Polizzi wants to be taken seriously! The Jersey Shore star famously know as Snooki draws a line between her guidette alter ego and the person she actually is.

“I think you see more of the party side of me … on the show, but right now, you’re talking to Nicole,” the pint-sized reality star told Matt Lauer on the Today show. “It’s like the soft, calm, business-ready person.”

Nicole continued to explain that the tanning addict, club-going, makeout-loving queen that we see on the MTV hit show is not a role model.

“Snooki’s definitely not a role model. Snooki’s just there to have fun in life,” she shared. “Nicole, I would say, I can be a role model. I’m very strong, independent and I’m lovable, I guess,” she said.

Nicole is making her rounds promoting her new book Confessions of a Guidette, in bookstores now.

“A Guidette is a girl with with a strong personality,” she explained. “She doesn’t let anyone bring her down. She likes tanning. She’s very independent and she loves to be, like, flashy.”

I can see that Snooki is a character she plays on MTV. Whenever she’s not filming ‘Jersey Shore’ she does tone down the whole guidette persona…. but not by much. She still looks Jerseyfied in these pictures from a book signing yesterday in NYC.

For those of you who watch the MTV reality shows (like moi) you know exactly who Johnny Bananas is. If you watch ‘Entourage’ as well, you’d know that Johnny Drama voiced a character on a show they called ‘Johnny’s Bananas’. Coincidence? Well, apparently back in August Johnny asked HBO not to use his nickname on ‘Entourage’, but his requests went unanswered. So Johnny is suing, claiming “tremendous emotional distress”. Oh please.

Johnny Bananas wasn’t monkeying around after all … because the MTV reality star has made good on his threats to sue the people behind “Entourage” for allegedly stealing his nickname to fuel a storyline.

TMZ broke the story … former “Real World” star Johnny Devenanzio had fired off a cease and desist letter to HBO back in August, claiming producers blatantly tried to “capitalize on the name recognition which I’m solely responsible for creating.”

Apparently, HBO neither ceased nor desisted … because Johnny D. filed a lawsuit in NY against HBO, Time Warner, and “Entourage” creator Doug Ellin.

In case you gave up on “Entourage” … Johnny Drama agreed to be the voice of an animated TV show called “Johnny’s Bananas” … in which the characters are all apes, gorillas, and other primates … it was sorta funny.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny claims he “has undergone tremendous emotional distress that has been intentionally inflicted upon plaintiff by defendants’ unwarranted, unauthorized, and unjustified use of plaintiff’s name and characterization in an offensive and disparaging manner in named ‘Entourage’.”

With the support and help of her Little Monsters, Lady Gaga has announced that she has been scheduled to be opening the MTV Video Music Awards.

“I have a really big announcement,” The Edge Of Glory singer said, flanked by hundreds of fans in New York’s Times Square Thursday. “But I thought as usual, instead of me announcing it, I’d let the Little Monsters do it for me.”

At that point, her fans unfurled a huge banner that read: “GAGA TO OPEN VMAs!!!”

“It means the world to me,” Gaga, 25, said of the gig. “I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans.”

Last year Gaga took home eight VMA awards where she famously wore the ‘meat dress’.

This year Lady Gaga has 4 VMA nominations. She is up for Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message for Born This Way; and Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for Judas.

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater. It is set air on MTV and also MTV.com on Sunday, August 28 at 9/8c.

I am sure whatever she does to open the VMAs, it will be a good show. Are you going to watch this year?

I’ve never heard of a clothing company who DOESN’T want their clothes appearing on celebrities, but that’s exactly what’s happening with Mike “the Situation” and Abercrombie & Fitch.

On Tuesday, the clothing retailer said they were willing to give a “substantial payment” to the entire MTV’s Jersey Shore cast if they would STOP wearing the brand on TV.

Here’s a statement from an Abercrombie & Fitch spokesperson:

“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

No word on how big the payment would be, but I’m thinking “substantial” isn’t anything to sneeze at.

The reality show, currently in its fourth season, features hard-partying and hookups in locations ranging from the show’s origin, the Jersey Shore to the current season in Florence, Italy.

The castmates have coined terms like “grenade”– to refer to an unattractive woman — and has come under fire for their liberal usage of words like “Guido” and “Guidette,” which many have argued as adhering to Italian-American stereotypes.

Call me crazy, but wouldn’t viewers of the Jersey Shore be perfect customers for Abercrombie?

Either way – this story is funny as hell.
