Ewan McGregor Nearly Used Heroin for ‘Trainspotting’

trainspotting.jpg

Ewan McGregor considered getting high on heroin as research for his role in cult drug movie Trainspotting, as long as screenwriter John Hodge, a doctor, was present. The Scottish movie star was struggling to capture the essence of his junkie character Mark Renton and thought he’d have more luck if he tried the drug.

He says, “I had this idea that it would be O.K. because John is a doctor, so I thought he could administer it in a hotel room somewhere so we didn’t OD (overdose) and die. In my fantasy, I was going to do it with (director) Danny (Boyle).”

That movie is so nasty.

Sienna is afraid of steamy sex scenes in “Factory Girl”

2006_factory_girl_002.jpg

She strips naked for some of the most explicit sex scenes ever seen in a mainstream movie - and is terrified of what her dad is going to think.

The shocking footage is so graphic Sienna admits she had to cover her eyes as she watched it on screen.

She said: “We wanted to make it realistic and I watched it thinking ‘Oh my God, my Dad’s going to see it!’ And that was going through my head.

But it was relevant to the story in that it’s a movie about the 60s, and sex and drugs and rock and roll were a big part of that. We didn’t want to hold back because it is a real film and it is a gritty film and there was a lot of shocking things and it wouldn’t fit in the film if we had an unrealistic sex scene. It was always a bit uncomfortable but I think it was relevant to the story.”

She added: “I think there were always concerns because it’s a vulnerable position to be in but, because Edie really had a problem letting men in, it was such a significant moment for her.

“I also believe that there’s nothing worse than seeing a sex scene where someone’s got a T-shirt on because its unrealistic so I think that if you’re going to do it, do it.”

Angelina Jolie in talks to join “Sin City 2″

angelina4.jpg

Actress Angelina Jolie has revealed that she will be talking to director Roger Rodriguez about starring in his new Sin City film ‘A Dame To Kill For’.

Rumours that Jolie was Rodriguez first choice for the role began circulating early this year when Jolie was pregnant with her daughter Shiloh Nouvel.

Sin City actress Rosario Dawson who hopes to reprise her role as prostitute Gail said about the new Sin City film in March: “The film’s kind of been postponed because Robert has been interested in Angelina Jolie for the lead.

“But she’s very pregnant right now. So that’s putting an understandable hold on the film.”

The film will once again be based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name in which Clive Owen’s character Dwight meets up with his ex-wife Ava (Hopefully Jolie) and falls in love with her again, while she is secretly plotting his downfall.

According to Comingsoon.net, Jolie said of Rodriguez and ‘A Dame To Kill For’: “We talked about it and I read the comic I don’t think the film is being made at this moment.

“When it’s actually going to be made I’m sure we’ll talk more about it.”

So Factory Girl REALLY does suck.

345okfn.jpg

“FACTORY Girl” - the hotly anticipated movie about 1960s “It Girl” Edie Sedgwick and the Andy Warhol scene - is having such a hard time getting off the assembly line, it won’t even be released in New York until sometime next year.

The Weinstein Company had invited New York critics to a screening of the unfinished movie this week, but then disinvited them when the producers learned they wouldn’t be eligible for awards from the New York Film Critics Circle.

Only pictures released in New York are eligible for the local honors, and Weinstein is rushing to open “Factory Girl” in Los Angeles before the end of the year to qualify for the ultimate goal - the Academy Awards.

“I feel somewhere between angered and dis-invested,” movie industry blogger Jeffrey Wells said. “I’ve been feeling something genuine for this film for the last four months, but the handling of it over the last 24 to 36 hours has been erratic and close to embarrassing.”

The movie, which stars Sienna Miller as the drug-doomed Edie and Guy Pearce as the platinum-wigged Warhol, has been vexed by so many problems and delays that director George Hickenlooper has been pushed aside, sources say.

Page Six previously reported that the crew was forced to reshoot some of the Pittsburgh scenes (or as Miller fondly called it, “S - - - sburgh”) in New York.

One New Yorker who was asked to appear in the film said he was shocked it’s already being screened because shooting hasn’t even wrapped: “They’ve got me on hold for more scenes next week.”

Scott Pellegrino, who promotes events through Popdebate.com, attended a “Factory Girl” screening on Thursday and said it was “well-received.” Another viewer said Miller’s performance is “brilliant.” Pellegrino’s one complaint was that “uber-WASP” Hayden Christensen was cast instead of a Jewish actor as the Bob Dylan-based character.

Weinstein Company rep Sarah Rothman told us New Yorkers will finally get to see the movie in February when it opens nationwide - unless it gets delayed.

Reese’s next movie, another thriller?

bunny.jpg

Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon is set to star in the remake of director Otto Preminger’s classic thriller Bunny Lake is Missing.

The 1965 film surrounds the events that occur after a woman reports that her daughter, Bunny Lake, has gone missing. When police investigate and find no evidence that she ever existed, they begin to question the woman’s sanity.

The original film starred Laurence Olivier and Carol Lynley. Director Joe Carnahan, who recently completed the ensemble drama Smokin’ Aces, hopes to helm the film before he directs George Clooney in White Jazz. Witherspoon is currently starring in another thriller, Rendition, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep.

Movie News!

160.jpgMatthew McConaughey’s got double trouble: He’s negotiating a two-picture deal with New Line. He would play a guy haunted by specters of old girlfriends in the aptly titled Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and a New Orleans bar fighter hunted by an enemy just released from prison in The Grackle.

2.bmpNatalie Portman gets a, er, head start in The Other Boleyn Girl. The Oscar-nominated thesp, along with Eric Bana, is in talks to star in the historical drama as the ill-fated Queen Anne, who battles with sister Mary for the heart of King Henry VIII (Bana). Justin Chadwick directs the Columbia Pictures epic, shooting in Europe in late September.

311.jpgOwen Wilson knows the drill when it comes to unwanted guests–he was one himself. The tables turn for the Wedding Crashers star: He plays a soldier hired to fend off a high school bully in the comedy Drillbit Taylor. The Paramount Pictures film begins shooting in September in Los Angeles with plans for a summer 2007 release.

4.jpgWar is heaven for Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Oscar-winning Capote star joins fellow statuette owners Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in Charlie Wilson’s War, adapted by Aaron Sorkin from George Crile’s book about a rogue congressman and a CIA agent who arm Afghan rebels to fight invading Soviets in the 1980s. Cameras roll Oct. 10.

5.jpgApparently Tim Burton thinks Johnny Depp is still good with scissors. Burton wants to direct his Edwards Scissorhands‘ star in a film adaptation of Sweeney Todd, the Stephen Sondheim musical about a murderous barber. Paramount’s DreamWorks studio produces the movie, which was given the green light after production on Burton’s other film, Believe It or Not starring Jim Carrey, was deep-sixed.
