Minnie Driver became a first-time mom to son Henry Story Driver, her rep tells People exclusively.
The baby was born Friday in Los Angeles and weighed 9 lbs., 12 oz., rep Jessica Kolstad says.
Driver, 38, who has not revealed the identity of the father, told People in June that the dad will be involved in the baby’s life.
“He’s going to be a dad so yeah he’s going to be there for the kid,” she said. “I’m not getting married to this person and I don’t know what’s going to happen but everyone is cool about the situation.”
As the new mom takes on her most important role yet, Driver says she is looking forward to simply observing and spending time with her child. “Babies are endlessly fascinating to look at and I’m obsessed about their complete and utter lack of guile. I’m looking forward to seeing life through the eyes of my own kid.”
She also says she plans on spending lots of time hanging out at the beach with her child. “I love the ocean and this baby will probably be surfing and swimming before it can walk.”

Minnie Driver has combined her love of making music and movies for her new film Take – by recording the theme tune.
The pregnant Brit offered her song Coming Back To Life to director Charles Oliver, with a view to him using it in the film.
She was stunned when he asked her to re-record the tune for the movie’s end credits. Driver says, “I knew it would be such a beautiful song for the end of the movie and it just fit beautifully. Charles didn’t want the version that I had already recorded. He just wanted me playing the guitar and singing, which I think works really well. It’s just stark and sweet.”

Pregnant actress Minnie Driver has applauded the angry surfers who came to her rescue when a quiet day at the beach turned into a paparazzi invasion last month.
Driver, actor pal Colin Farrell and his young son were relaxing at Paradise Cove in Malibu, California when an army of photographers targeted them for pictures. Farrell himself challenged one group of snappers but when he was outnumbered, local surfers stepped in to let the cameramen know they weren’t welcome.
A brawl broke out between snappers and surfers, with some paparazzi forced to defend themselves from beatings as they were dragged into the sea with their expensive equipment.
Driver says, “We were chased off the beach by these paparazzi and then my local community and my lovely friends and neighbors took serious umbrage at the fact that their community had been so disrupted by these people, who were just total piranhas. Whilst I don’t condone the violence at all, I think they (surfers) were just defending people trying to have a normal afternoon. Colin has a little son and I’m pregnant, so it was just sort of disgusting and wrong. It wasn’t a happy experience of taking lovely pictures; it was rabid and weird. The Malibu community was defending us, which was really nice. It didn’t stop the guy from selling his pictures for $80,000, but, hey, maybe a punch in the mouth was worth it for him.”
And Driver is happy the incident has prompted local officials to boost the police presence on the beaches, so celebrities can sunbathe in peace: “Now we have sheriffs patrolling our beach, which I kind of love.”

Minnie Driver has already decided the name of her unborn baby – she’ll call it Thomas if it’s a boy and Isabel if it’s a girl.
The star is determined to keep the baby’s gender a surprise, and has even prepared nurseries in neutral colors.
She explains, “I have two houses, so I’ve readied two rooms. Not pink or blue, because I don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl, so I’ve just made them neutral and peaceful.”
But she is already sure about names – and is keen to steer clear of the Hollywood trend to give children wacky monikers.
Driver adds, “Being traditional, if it’s a boy I’ll name him Thomas. A girl, Isabel.”
