Michael J. Fox Reacts To Robin Williams' Parkinson's Diagnosis

Robin Williams shocked the world by leaving us so soon before his time, but what made it even more depressing was learning that he was suffering from Parkinson’s Disease prior to his death. After his suicide, the actor’s wife dropped the bombshell that he was dealing with the early stages of Parkinson’s. Sad.

Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with the illness in 1991 and admitted that he turned to alcohol in order to help him cope. He revealed last year, “My first reaction to it was to start drinking heavily. I used to drink to party, but now I was drinking alone…and every day. Once I did that it was then about a year of like a knife fight in a closet, where I just didn’t have my tools to deal with it.”

Afterward, he went to AA and received therapy in order to deal with the disease. Now, he is sharing his reaction to Robin’s untimely death. He took to Twitter to say: “Stunned to learn Robin had PD. Pretty sure his support for our Fdn predated his diagnosis. A true friend; I wish him peace.”

Indeed. We all wish him peace and our condolences go out to his family and loved ones. He will be missed.

E! News should probably re-think what they consider a “Fun Fact” #GoldenGlobesFail

Major Golden Globes Fail came by way of the E! Network!

The channel ran a graphic during it’s Golden Globe coverage that listed Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis as a “Fun Fact.” Hmm, wonder if Michael agrees?

The graphic ran during E!’s live stream of the red carpet. Michael was nominated for Best Actor in a comedy for his new NBC show.

E! says they regret the insensitive comment. In a statement they said, “We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.”

Michael J. Fox is returning to TV!

Does this story not just bring a smile to your face!!

Michael J. Fox is returning full-time to series television!! The actor is writing a real-life drama based on his own amazing story, which will air on NBC. The sitcom will center around a husband and father of three who is dealing with Parkinson’s disease, like Fox has been doing for the past decade.

NBC said Monday it has picked up 22 episodes of the yet-untitled sitcom, scheduled for fall 2013.

Fox said in a statement that he is “excited to get to work.”

He left “Spin City” in 2000, and became the country’s most notable advocate for research into Parkinson’s, a progressive neurological disease.

In recent years he has returned to television with guest roles on “Boston Legal,” “Scrubs,” “The Good Wife” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

He won an Emmy for his role on “Rescue Me” in 2009.

Fox is best known as Alex P. Keaton on the 1980s NBC sitcom “Family Ties” and for the three-movie “Back to the Future” series.

Oh I heart this story! Michael J. Fox was such a huge part of my childhood, from ‘Family Ties’ to the ‘Back to the Future’ series. Just so happy to hear he’s healthy enough to take on a TV show!
