Dr. Conrad Murray, the Texas cardiologist who was with Michael Jackson when the singer suffered cardiac arrest at his rented L.A. mansion Thursday, was questioned by Los Angeles police late Saturday, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.
Murray voluntarily met with detectives assigned to Robbery-Homicide Division “and conducted an extensive interview,” a Los Angeles police spokesperson tells Us. “Dr. Murray was cooperative and provided information which will aid the investigation.”
An attorney accompanied Murray to the lengthy meeting, the Associated Press reports.
“Dr. Murray is considered to be a witness to the events surrounding Michael Jackson’s death and he is not a suspect,” Houston law firm Stradley, Chernoff & Alford said in a statement. “Dr. Murray hired legal counsel to help guide him through the police investigation process. The law firm was hired to make sure the police investigation is conducted properly.”
In a statement to the Associated Press, Murray’s spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik added that the doctor “helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies. Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy.”
Murray has been in Los Angeles since Jackson’s death and plans to stay here until his cooperation is no longer needed, the rep added.
Questions continue to grow about Murray’s involvement in Jackson’s life.
Murray — who reportedly is licensed in California, Nevada and Texas and has an office in Houston — had treated Jackson for three years. Two weeks ago — around the time Murray reportedly announced he was shutting down his private practice — Jackson requested that Murray be with him, according to reports. He was then hired by AEG Live, which was producing Jackson’s upcoming London shows. (more…)

In a 911 call, a caller at Michael Jackson’s rented Los Angeles home frantically tells the dispatcher that the King of Pop is “not breathing” and assistance is needed.
“We have a gentleman here that needs help and he’s not breathing,” said the man, who placed the call at 12:21 p.m. PST Thursday. “He’s not breathing, and we’re trying to pump him… He’s not conscious, sir.”
The caller — who did not identify Jackson by name — told the dispatcher that Jackson’s personal physician had already begun doing CPR.
“We have a personal doctor [Dr. Conrad Murray] here with him, sir, but he’s not responding to anything,” the caller said. “He’s not responding to CPR or anything.”
When asked if anyone saw what happened, the man replied, “The doctor has been the only one here.”
Jackson, who suffered cardiac arrest, was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. PST.

The death of Michael Jackson shocked the world yesterday, including producers of Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest uncomfortably funny comedy, Brüno: those in charge raced to cut mocking footage of LaToya Jackson just hours before the film debuted in L.A., AFP reported.
The character of Brüno convinces LaToya in the movie that he’s an Austrian fashion journalist while taking a few comedic shots at her (including a scene where she eats sushi off the body of a naked Mexican worker acting as a table )and producers decided those jokes weren’t appropriate in light of her brother’s very recent passing. It’s doubtful that those scenes will remain in the film on July 10 when the novie opens nationwide.

Brüno did end up causing a small mishap however: mourning fans gathered to lay flowers on Michael Jackson’s star on Hollywood Boulevard, but they were laid on the wrong star. Brüno’s red carpet covered the musician’s star, while the star with the misplaced flowers belonged to radio talk show host Michael Jackson, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Although the exact cause of Michael Jackson’s death remains unknown, Brian Oxman – who has served as the family’s attorney for more than 20 years – suspects prescription drug abuse may have played a role.
“I don’t know what caused Michael’s death, and I don’t want to speculate as to what the causes are,” Oxmon tells Usmagazine.com. “I only know that I warned them there was the misuse of prescription medications by people who were enabling him; his handlers, folks who should never have been permitted to allow him to use those medications in the manner I observed.”
“So is that the cause of it? I don’t know,” he continues. “People die from various and sundry causes – they have congenital malformations of the heart, they have difficulty with various infections. I don’t know what Michael Jackson’s death is a result of.”

Oxmon says the 50-year-old Jackson — who suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. PST Thursday — “had no particular health concerns except that he had broken his leg many years ago, and it hurt him.”
“He had cracked a vertebrae in his back and he took painkillers to try to ease the pain,” he says. “And now we find ourselves here. I don’t know if the two are connected. I had warned that the misuse of medications would result in this, and I am heartbroken that we are here.”
Though some reports claim Jackson may have overdosed on Demerol, Oxmon declined to elaborate on the types of medications Jackson was taking “because it is something which is private to Michael, and we’ll have to wait for the toxicology reports before we jump to any kind of conclusions. I only know that I warned that his day may come. And lo and behold, here we are.” (more…)

Investigators have seized bags of prescription drugs from Michael Jackson’s home, family lawyer Brian Oxman has confirmed to Life & Style.
Police searched Michael’s rented Beverly Hills home and took away “bags of material,” including vials of prescription drugs. Oxman also said he was prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed drugs to Michael.
He told Life & Style, “Police seized bags of material from his house. They were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don’t know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials.”

Oxman said he would help the police investigation into Michael’s death, adding, “I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn’t warn him enough.”
“I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them.”
He added that the Jackson family was totally devastated by Michael’s death: “They couldn’t even talk to one another in the hospital. It was total silence, and they were just holding one another’s hands.”

Lisa Marie Presley is struggling to cope with the death of her ex husband Michael Jackson.
“I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible,” she tells Usmagazine.com in a statement. “I am heartbroken for his children who I know were everything to him and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me.”
In August 1994, Jackson and Presley shocked fans by announcing they wed.
“And to think, they said it wouldn’t last,” said Jackson as he planted a smooch on Presley at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards. (She later said that it was Jackson’s public-relations people who insisted on the big onscreen kiss.)
Presley and Jackson announced their split 20 months later.
