Catherine Zeta-Jones is very upset that it took so long for doctors to discover her husband’s, actor Michael Douglas, stage 4 throat cancer.
“It makes me furious they didn’t detect it earlier … he sought every option and nothing was found,” Zeta-Jones tells People in its brand new issue.
“I know maybe I should be stronger, but emotionally I just don’t want to see that … the hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because Michael is never tired.”
Douglas appeared on David Letterman and let the audience know that he had finished his first 8 week round of radiation and chemotherapy to hopefully stop the cancer growth.
Michael, 65, claims that he had been suffering from throat problems all summer, but doctors did not see any caner. When he returned from his European summer vacation, finally the cancer was found.
“The expectations [of recovery] are good,” Douglas told Letterman, noting he has about an 80 percent chance of recovery.
The actor’s latest film, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, hits theaters September 24.

A judge sentenced Michael Douglas’ son on drug charges to five years in prison Tuesday, calling it his “last chance to make it.”
U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman announced the sentence after hearing 31-year-old Cameron Douglas apologize with his father in court, admitting that he had squandered a lot of opportunities to turn his life around.
Early in a sentencing hearing that stretched more than an hour, the judge said he was not confident that Douglas would turn his back on drugs after pleading guilty in January to charges that he dealt large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine.
He noted that he had read at least 37 letters from family, friends and supporters who “believe he has finally bottomed out in terms of his addiction and may be ready to turn his life around.”
Berman, though, said: “In my estimation, that will be a very difficult chore. I think this case and this sentencing may well be his last chance to make it.”
