TMZ has learned Mel Gibson exploded in anger last night on a college campus after an expert on Mayan culture accussed him of racially stereotyping the Mayans in the movie “Apocalypto.”
It happened last night at Cal State University at Northridge in the San Fernando Valley. Gibson was speaking to a film class about his movies, and several members of the Mayan community came to hear the famous director.

After Gibson’s presentation, the crowd was allowed to ask questions. Alicia Estrada, an Assistant Professor of Central American Studies at CSUN, challenged Gibson, asking him if he had read about the Mayan culture before shooting the controversial film. Gibson said he had.
Estrada persisted, stating that representations in the movie that the Mayans engaged in sacrificial ceremonies and had bloodthirsty tendencies were both wrong and racist. Estrada and others tell TMZ that Gibson exploded in anger, responding, “Lady, F**k off.”

We’re told Gibson also became extremely angry when members of the Mayan community protested on how they were portrayed in the film. The emotional Mayan members were escorted out of the room, and we’re told Gibson screamed a parting shot — “Make your own movie!”
UPDATE: Gibson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, told TMZ, “This person was a heckler who was rude and disrupted the event, so much so that the event organizers had to escort her out.” For the record, Nierob, not Howard Rubenstein, reps Gibson.Source

Director George Milleris planning a long-awaited follow-up to his Mad Max movies – but the action sequel will not include original leading man Mel Gibson, because he’s too “old”.
Australian Miller directed Gibson as police officer ‘Mad’ Max Rockatansky living in a post-apocalyptic world in three Mad Max movies in 1979, 1981 and 1985.
The director says, “I do want to make another Mad Max movie and get stuck back into that. “It (the lead) won’t be Mel. He was 21 when he made the first one, now he’s a lot older and his passion is for film making and directing. “I don’t think he is into acting and I don’t think he would be interested in being involved at all.”

Mel Gibson is allegedly facing a legal battle from a young Australian woman who insists she is his love-child. Carmel Sloane, 29, claims her mother Marilyn was picked up by Gibson when she was hitchhiking in Australia in 1976. Gibson, who then worked at an orange juice factory in Adelaide, apparently then romanced her in the back of his wagon – but Marilyn, who alleges she then fell pregnant with Carmel, never saw him again after their steamy interlude.
Legal papers will be served on the Hollywood actor this week. The star will have to either admit paternity or face a DNA test.
Carmel tells British newspaper the News of the World, “I’m not doing it for his money. I just want to meet the man I’ve always known was my dad – and for him to get to know his grandson.”
Marilyn recalls, “I was a slim young woman in tight-fitting jeans on the side of the road when a station wagon stopped. Mel turned to look at me with those amazing blue eyes and I was mesmerized. He said, ‘Where are you going?’ I said, ‘A long way from here.’ When we stopped for the night he persuaded me to join him in the back. I told him, ‘If anything happens and I get pregnant I’m going to come looking for you.’ He replied, ‘I’m going to be famous, you’ll always know where to find me.’”
Carmel adds, “We have no choice but to go legal so that we can get to the bottom of this once and for all. A simple DNA test will sort it out.”

Which apparently isn’t just for quitters.

Academy Award winning actor-director Mel Gibson entered a rehab program after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, his publicist said Monday.
“He has entered into an ongoing program of recovery,” said the publicist, Alan Nierob.
Further details were not immediately available.
The movie star’s troubles mounted Monday as a Web site reported Gibson had been stopped twice before for reckless driving and let go.
Meanwhile, Hollywood speculated about the fallout from Gibson’s reported anti-Semitic and sexist remarks. Authorities involved in his arrest continued to fend off suggestions that they had “sanitized” a deputy’s report.
As the details of Gibson’s arrest dominated water cooler conversations, the future of his high-profile projects came under question. The projects include a Mayan-language film called “Apocalypto” due later this year, and a miniseries set during the Holocaust.
TMZ.com, which broke the story that Gibson had been arrested early Friday, reported Monday that the actor was stopped twice previously in the past three years “for reckless driving” but was let go without being cited.
CNN could not immediately confirm the report by TMZ, which is owned by CNN parent company Time Warner. Gibson’s representatives had no comment.
Gibson issued a statement over the weekend saying that he drove and should not have after drinking alcohol on Thursday night.

“Mel Gibson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was released later this morning. The investigation was still ongoing, just like it would be with any other person.”
