What the heck!!!
ET breaks news that Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are currently en route to Costa Rica on vacation together! Britney arrived on time, about 5 minutes after Mel, and the plane departed at 9:05 a.m.
We spotted them leaving on a private plane to the Central American state early this morning. Sources tell us that Mel is taking Britney and her father Jamie for a mini-vacation. We’ve learned they will be guests at Mel’s home in Costa Rica.
According to the terms of her custody Britney’s children cannot leave the country without special approval, so they are not joining her on the trip.
While the pop star and the actor may appear to be an unlikely duo, they used to live in the same Malibu community and were spotted having dinner together at Studio City’s Romanov restaurant in March.

Mel Gibson is to return to acting for the first time in six years in a feature adaptation of 80s BBC drama Edge of Darkness.
The Mad Max star has not topped the bill in front of the camera since Signs and We Were Soldiers in 2002, having concentrated on directing with The Passion of the Christ in 2004 and Apocalypto in 2006.
But after Martin Campbell, director of the original television series, developed a cinematic version of the show with Graham King and William Monahan, the Oscar-winning producer and screenwriter of The Departed, Gibson has now committed to his first acting role in years, Variety reports.
The Bafta-winning BBC miniseries featured Bob Peck as a policeman whose activist daughter is murdered in front of him.
When he delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a dense conspiracy of government intrigue and nuclear corruption.
According to Variety, Gibson is a long-time fan of the show and was receptive to King and Campbell’s overtures.
The role in Edge of Darkness, which begins shooting in Boston in August, will represent the Braveheart star’s first attempt to court public affections since his approval ratings declined after a drunk-driving arrest in 2006, following which he made anti-Semitic remarks.
Having had his drivers’ licence suspended, received three years’ probation and a $1,300 fine and ordered to attend alcohol education classes and a three-month alcohol education program, he later described the incident as a “moment of insanity”.

Mel Gibson has laughed off reports that Britney Spears is to sing at his Los Angeles church.
The troubled pop superstar - who was recently spotted dining out with Gibson, her former Malibu, California neighbor - was alleged to be performing a special “gospel-style number” for the actor/director at The Holy Family Catholic Church.
The British tabloid reports also claimed Spears was to have “a new song written for her for the occasion”, but Gibson’s representative has dismissed the claims insisting there isn’t “an ounce of truth to it”, according to TMZ.com.

Mel Gibson has filed legal papers asking a judge to dismiss a fraud allegation filed in a recent lawsuit by the co-screenwriter of his religious epic The Passion of the Christ.
In his lawsuit, Benedict Fitzgerald claimed Gibson, who directed the controversial 2004 film, engaged in a “chronic and conspiratorial pattern of deceit” by telling him he was working on a project with a budget of between $4 million and $7 million. Fitzgerald claims he was only paid $75,000 and that he had to borrow $200,000 from Gibson to cover expenses.
The Passion Of The Christ went on to gross an estimated $600 million worldwide. However, in legal documents filed on Tuesday, Gibson claims Fitzgerald had to know The Passion Of The Christ’s budget due to the extensive publicity the film attracted. The actor/director, who is named as a defendant alongside his Icon Productions company, also claims Fitzgerald waited too long to file his suit and hasn’t offered an adequate explanation for the delay. A hearing is set June 20th.

Mel Gibson feels “terrible” that a construction worker hung himself on his property, according to a rep.
A construction worker was found hanging on a structure at the Oscar-winning director’s Agoura Hills home on Tuesday morning. Believed to be a suicide, the body of the worker, who has yet to be identified, was discovered “in full rigor mortis.”
Mel has not yet lived on the property and thus was not at home when the death occurred or when the body was discovered.
The new house is less than a mile from his church, The Holy Family Catholic Church, where Mel’s daughter was married in September 2006.

TMZ is reporting that a construction worker has committed suicide at one of Mel Gibson’s homes today.
It happened at Mel’s Agoura Hills home — near Malibu. The construction worker was 48-years-old. We’re told he hanged himself. The body was found by the job site foreman.
The Sheriff’s substation in Lost Hills took the call at 8:07 AM — that’s the same station where Mel was taken after his DUI arrest in 2006.
Mel was not at the house when the body was discovered. A law enforcement source says no one from Gibson’s family was living at the house — it is currently under heavy construction.
The house is less than a mile from his church — The Holy Family Catholic Church — where Mel’s daughter was married back in September, 2006.
Mel has never lived on the compound.

As you guys may remember Mel Gibson was arrested last year (last July to be exact), for drunk driving in Malibu. Looks like the party isn’t over for Mr. Mel.
