Sleepless in Ithaca… Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan Pair Up Again!

Meg Ryan Runs Errands In NYC

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have long been America’s sweethearts.  They have starred in three different romantic comedies together, Joe Versus the Volcano (my personal favorite), Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail.  Rumor has it that they are now going to add a fourth film to their resume.

Meg Ryan is making her directorial debut with the film, Ithaca, which is a drama set in the 1940s.  The movie centers around a teenage boy who dreams to be the fastest bicycle messenger ever, and how he is affected delivering messages during WWII.  The story is based on the book ‘The Human Comedy’ by William Saroyan.  Ryan will also star in the film, and Hanks is in talks to make a cameo.   He is also acting as an executive producer on the film.  Meg Ryan’s son with Dennis Quaid, Jack Quaid, will be playing the teenage messenger.  Jack Quaid is best known for his role as Marvel in the Hunger Games franchise.

Meg Ryan set to star in NBC comedy!

Meg Ryan is coming to TV! It’s been 30 years since Meg was on a TV show, and now she’s making her big return! The actress has signed on to star in an untitled comedy for NBC.

The half hour show was created by Marc Lawrence (“Family Ties”). Ryan will not only star in the show, but she will also be an executive producer.

The last time Ryan was a lead on TV was in 1982, when she co-starred in “One of the Boys,” a comedy with Mickey Rooney, Dana Carvey and Nathan Lane. In 1985 she appeared on a show called “Wildside” that was canceled after a month. More recently she appeared on a number of episodes on Showtime’s “Web Therapy.”

The new NBC project finds Ryan playing an upbeat single mother who decides to go back to work for a New York publishing house, where long ago she was a well-respected editor, only to find that her new boss, 30-year-old Brenda, is her former intern — and is highly neurotic to boot.

The news of Ryan’s return to show business is welcome news to fans who were disappointed to read an October cover story in People magazine that said that Ryan wanted to stay out of Hollywood to be with her family, which includes her boyfriend John Mellencamp and her 8-year-old daughter, Daisy.

Here are new pictures of Meg and boyfriend John Mellencamp returning from the gym this afternoon in NYC.  I like how John leaves the gym with a cigarette in his hand.

NEW PHOTOS: Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp spotted holding hands in Rome!

I was  just wondering if these two were still together, and looks like they are!

Meg Ryan and boyfriend John Mellencamp were spotted over the weekend holding hands, and walking through Rome! The couple have been together for two and a half years!

Interestingly, both of them are wearing matching silver rings on their ring fingers. Are they secretly married – or just committed to each other?
