Matthew McConaughey’s dad died having sex, says his mother

Camila Alves, Matthew and Kay McConaughey

If you think Matthew McConaughey is a character, wait until you meet his mom.

In her new book, I Amaze Myself! (iamazemyself.com), Kay McConaughey dishes on everything from her son Matthew’s conception to how her husband died in a compromising position with her!

“On Monday mornings, he and I often said goodbye by making love,” Kay says exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “But one day, all of a sudden, it just happened.

“I knew that something was wrong, because I didn’t hear anything from him. Just nothing,” she says. “But it was just the best way to go!”

And when her man couldn’t be revived, she made sure he was taken from the house in the buff.

“I was just so proud to show off my big old Jim McConaughey — and his gift,” she says.

The mother — who tells Us, “I would love to be on Oprah!” — also says that her most famous son, 38, was a happy accident.

It was just after she’d married Matthew’s dad for the third time.

“I was deciding, ‘Do I want to have another baby? Do I want to have an affair? Or go back to school?’” she says. “That’s when Matthew was conceived. We had tried for 16 years and no baby. So Matthew was a big surprise!”

Matthew McConaughey urges protesters to see Tropic Thunder

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey has defended controversial new movie Tropic Thunder against disability advocate groups, who claim the comedy is irresponsible.

The actor, who has a cameo in the Ben Stiller film, was stunned to find protestors at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere last week.

They were there protesting the use of the word ‘retard’ in the film and one scene, in which Stiller and co-star Robert Downey Jr.s’ characters poke fun at the mentally disabled.

But McConaughey insists those who fear the film sends the wrong message should at least see the movie, which debuted at number one on Sunday.

Writing on his MySpace.com blog, the Sahara star says: “If you see it, I think you’ll agree that all the touchy humor is in context, and in no way mean spirited or irresponsible.”

Matthew McConaughey & Camila’s nanny war

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves

Matthew McConaughey is so head over heels for his new son, Levi, that he wants to do everything.

“If he could breast-feed the baby himself, he would,” says an insider.

But he clearly doesn’t do enough to satisfy Levi’s mom, Camila Alves. She would like to have a nanny.

“The house is getting messier, and neither of them is getting much sleep,” adds the insider. “Camila wants to hire someone, but Matthew really objects. At least for the first few months, Matthew wants the two of them and their families to be the only ones caring for Levi.”

Camila and Matthew in no rush to get married!

matthew_mcconaughey0807083.jpg

Although Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey just had a baby together, they’re not heading down the aisle anytime soon.  “Being married is not something that’s even in our minds,” Camila tells In Touch. Instead, the new parents are focusing on their 6-week-old son, Levi. “What’s important to me is to have a home that is peaceful and healthy,” she says.

Just don’t expect another baby right away. The beauty adds, “After 60 hours of labor, I’m taking it one day at a time.”

The Brazilian model, 26, is also developing her career as a designer. On August 7, Camila launched her new handbag collection, called Muxo, at Kitson in LA. “The bags are very laid-back and all handmade,” Camila tells In Touch. The designs are such a hit that Matthew, 38, even carries his stuff around in a messenger-style satchel that she created. “I’ve been wearing one of the bags for more than a year!” he tells In Touch.

The new parents, who welcomed son Levi on July 8, have been together for two years.

Camila Alves’ labor drama could’ve been avoided

Matthew McConaughey

Concerns about his baby and his exhausted girlfriend prompted dad-to-be Matthew McConaughey to agree to a C-section birth after a 40-hour labour marathon last month.

The actor and his girlfriend Camila Alves were determined to have a natural birth and had to change their plans when the Brazilian model’s water broke a week early and she spent hours in pain.

Speaking on House Call, McConaughey recalls, “We were 40 hours into this and now the doctors are getting concerned about the water being broken and the possibility of infection.”

“I wouldn’t say she’s (Alves) suffering but she’s having to dig deep… She’s tired, she’s exhausted, she’s in pain. When the contractions come, you’ve gotta push and in between them – those 30 second intervals – she’s passing out and then coming back to and that went on for hours.”

“And, we had this problem… Upon contractions, the baby’s pulse would sink. It was getting down to 70, which means the umbilical cord is somewhere strapped across the esophagus.”

“The doctor called C-section and, as soon as they say C-section, 33 minutes later, the baby’s out. (I was like) `60 hours we’ve been in here and if we’d have come in and just said `Let’s just have it,’ you could do it in three hours.”

But the Sahara star has no regrets: “It went down perfectly. Even though we went 60 hours to do what could have been done in a few hours, it was a great journey for both of us.”

Matthew McConaughey planted the placenta

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey kept the placenta from the July birth of his son and plans to plant it in an orchard.

In an interview with CNN’s “House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” McConaughey said he hopes it will fertilize the land, a ritual long followed in several cultures.

“It’s going to be in the orchards and it’s going to bear some wonderful fruit,” he said.

“When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river . . . and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength.

“This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous.”

McConaughey also says he and his girlfriend Camila Alves have enjoyed integrating their new baby, Levi Alves McConaughey, into their lives.

Already they’ve started introducing him to the “sights and the sounds” of the world – including a John Mellencamp concert.

“You’re never told in our house, ‘Shh, Levi is sleeping.’ No. Get used to the ambiance. Come with us. That’s how I was raised,” he says.
