When Lost’s Jack says goodbye to the island in the ABC drama’s series finale, star Matthew Fox will say goodbye to TV.
Fox, who has previously described the ending of Lost as a “relief,” told Starpulse that he has no plans to work on the small screen again.

“I am not going to do television again,” Fox said. “That is not because I think film is better than television. Not at all, in some respects some of the best story telling is happening on television. I have done two TV shows — Lost and Party of Five — that have each run for six years. When you add it all up it is in the vicinity of 300 hours of television. I want to find a way to have more control over when I am working and when I’m not. I’m looking for more flexibility.”

Fox said that flexibility will give him more time to spend with his wife and kids. “I am (43) and a father of two children, and I don’t want to miss them growing up,” Fox said. “I don’t want to find myself 10 years from now feeling like I was an absentee father because I was so focused on my career.”
Will Lost’s finale match these classic series-enders?
The actor plans to take six months off when Lost wraps its final season, and Fox said when he returns to work, he hopes to film one or two movies a year. Fox’s most recent big screen roles include We Are Marshall, Vantage Point, and Speed Racer.
On last night’s Jimmy Kimmel, Kimmel and guest Matthew Fox had a staring contest to see who would claim the title of “Gorgeous Man” and ended up in the shower together.
I really should watch the Kimmel show, he cracks me up. Sorry I missed Matthew Fox last night!
Did you guys watch the Lost finale? I just finished it a couple minutes ago, and holy crap! The first hour and a half were pretty boring, but man – the last half hour was INTENSE!! So excited to see what they do next season (which is the last season!)

On “Lost” coming to an end: “Personally, it’s a relief…I owe this show a great amount, and I think it’s exceptionally good…[but] I am looking forward to the freedom that comes with not working on one project professionally.”
On the “Lost” series finale: “This show started with a plane crash on an island in the South Pacific, and it’s going to have a very global and epic ending.”
On moving to Oregon: “My major motivation is to be closer to family. My brother is there, my mother is there…I really miss that kind of wide-open space.”
Welcome home Matthew! I live in Oregon. Let’s me up…you name the place.

I just read this, and I have to say Matthew, when you come up here – give me a call. We’ll do brunch.
Matthew’s brothers and their young children live in Oregon, and he says that he and his wife, Margherita Ronchi, an Italian model who was his college sweetheart, are discussing joining them. “We’ve been talking about moving to Oregon for a while, so whenever things get tough, I just keep Oregon in my sights. I enjoy fishing, hiking and skiing, and the mountains and fresh air and all these things are available pretty easily in Oregon without having to drive a long distance.
“I’m really excited to figure all that out, but it’s still a couple of years away, so I’m just enjoying life right now.”
“Anytime you’re talking about playing a guy who’s a masked vigilante wrapped in leather there’s a lot of ways that can go terribly wrong. I went and looked at some movies where that did go terribly wrong.”
