Martha Stewart needed 9 stitches to close up a bloody gash on her upper lip this week after her dog accidentally headbutted the domestic goddess in the face, according to TMZ.

Martha was getting ready to leave her NY home Tuesday when she leaned over to “whisper goodbye” to her dozing french bulldog, Francesca. But Martha says she must have “startled” the dog, because Franny shot upwards and hit Martha in the face … busting her lip open.

Martha says she “felt a bit of whiplash as blood gushed forth from [her] split lip.”

Unable to stop the bleeding herself, Martha first called police to ask for a ride … before remembering that she had a driver on standby.

Martha eventually made it to the emergency room — where she was promptly sewn back up.

Ouch!

Martha Stewart’s pole-dancing video has become an Internet sensation after she performed the stripper moves on her show Monday, but when I caught up with her Wednesday, she discounted the frisky romp.

“I didn’t do a stripping routine,” she tells me with a chuckle during the American Antiques Show opening night gala benefiting the American Folk Art Museum held at NYC’s Metropolitan Pavillion. “I did the pole dancing, it’s called.”

She adds, “It’s a fabulous exercise. I look at it as an exercise.”

The 68-year-old domestic doyenne is “impressed” she didn’t wake up sore, and “definitely” will return to a class next week.

What moves does she most want to learn?

“The last one that she did – upside down,” she says. “That’s the one I’m gonna to learn. Next week, I’ll be doing it.”

Despite a report on PerezHilton.com that said Mariah Carey kept everyone waiting for her for a Macy’s commercial shoot, Martha Stewart has taken to her official Twitter page to defend the singer.

She writes: “by the way mariah did not keep us waiting as reported by perez hilton the shoo[t] is on schedule thanks to [director Barry] sonnenfeld’s complete command.”

Perez’s sources had said that Mariah had pulled a diva turn by keeping fellow celebs Martha, Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson waiting for her by being hours late to the shoot.

Martha Stewart is resting up after undergoing surgery on her left hip. The domestic diva’s rep says she’s “feeling fine” after the June 19 operation stemming from “an injury.” David Perel’s National Enquirer reports that the work-driven Stewart put off the two-hour surgery for more that a year, hiding “her condition from her studio audience” by staying seated during the show’s opening. “She left each of her nurses a bag of homemade cookies and a personal note,” a source tells the tab.
