Mark Zuckerberg’s Giving Billions Of His FB Shares To Charity

Screen Shot 2015-12-02 at 9.53.35 AM

Yes, you heard correctly. Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan’s new daughter, Max, was born a week ago and the new parents penned a SUPER long open letter (this ain’t twitter, folks) to her that they posted on Facebook today. In the letter, Mark announced that they will slowly give 99% of their Facebook shares to charity over the course of their lives. You hear that baby? You’ll still be really rich, like super rich, but not like, dynastic, evil empire rich.

Here’s a quick recap: the letter talks a lot about children, poverty, education, the internet, learning and giving billions of dollars to the world to make it a better place for this baby and I guess, other babies. But babies can’t read and can’t have FB accounts, so, uh, guess you aren’t SO SMART, MARK ZUCKERBERG.

Mark Zuckerberg announced today that he and wife Priscilla Chan, who married in 2012, have a baby girl on the way!

“This will be a new chapter in our lives,” he wrote. “We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.”

The 31-year-old mogul also opened up about the couple’s struggles to conceive.

“We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way. You feel so hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child. You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.”

Wow, could Mark sound any more like a non-profit copy editor? In any case, at least his kid’s gonna grow up pretty smart, and really, really wealthy.

Mark Zuckerberg named by Time Magazine as ‘Person of the Year’

TIME Magazine has announced its 2010 Person of the Year, and it’s the same guy who starred in one of the year’s biggest films — sort of. Mark Zuckerberg, the 26-year-old Facebook creator and subject of Oscar front-runner ‘The Social Network,’ notched the honor “for connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them; for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives,” TIME writes.

Zuckerberg beat Wikileaks founder Julian Assange for the top spot.

Zuckerberg became the world’s youngest billionaire at age 23. Facebook has more than 500 million users today.

David Fincher’s ‘The Social Network,’ dramatizing the inception of Facebook with Jesse Eisenberg portraying Zuckerberg as an antisocial, almost sociopathic programming whiz, has been notching many honors on the road to Academy Awards season. The film accepted Best Picture honors from the National Board of Review, the New York Film Festival and various critics’ groups and just earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture (Drama).
