It’s true! According to a relative of the groom, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have indeed tied the knot. Linda Cannon, a family member of Nick’s, confirmed to E! News that the wedding happened. “He called and told us all about it,” said Linda.

There has been no official confirmation of the nuptials, but Latina magazine reported that after dating less than two months, the pair got hitched in an impromptu ceremony on an island.

Just last week, Carey attended the TriBeCa Film Festival premiere of her film Tennessee sporting a huge rock on her left ring finger – a $2.5 million, 17-carat diamond ring from Jacob & Co. jewelers. Sources say Cannon, 27, and Carey, 39, became involved after he appeared in the video for her song “Bye, Bye.”

This is the second marriage for Carey, who divorced music exec Tommy Mottola in 1998, and the second engagement for Cannon, who split from Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks last year. (No stranger to quick decisions, Cannon proposed to Ebanks after less than four months of dating.)

“I’m not going to give you any details,” Cannon’s relative added, declining to confirm the New York Post’s report that the nuptials took place at Carey’s private estate off the Caribbean island of Eleuthera. “If that is what he wants, then we are happy for him.”

The two got hitched in a small ceremony on an island Wednesday, according to the magazine. They quote a source as saying it was “very implusive.”

Rapper/actor Nick Cannon squirmed awkwardly when asked about his rumored engagement to Mariah Carey during an MTV News chat on Monday, refusing to deny reports he’d asked the pop superstar to marry him.

Carey sported a huge diamond ring on her wedding finger at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York at the weekend, fueling speculation she is to wed for a second time.

And rumors that Cannon is her new man refuse to go away.

Promoting his new film in New York on Monday, the MTV regular refused to make eye contact with his interviewer when he was asked about the alleged engagement.

Chuckling nervously, Cannon said, “Rumors happen, they do. She’s a great person… She’s probably the most festive, remarkable person I’ve ever met.”

Carey’s representatives have refused to comment on the new wedding rumors. She was previously married to Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, they divorced in 1998 after five years.

Mariah Carey finds it tough maintaining her fabulous figure because fatty food is fun and dieting is “boring”.
The 38-year-old stays in shape thanks to a grueling workout and a restrictive eating regime. And she admits she pines for something tasty to eat.

She says, “Working out and dieting and eating boring food. I can’t go to the barbeque spot.”

But she does concede the diet is working, and she feels good when she is fit: “I need to work out more. But the diet thing is what works best for me. But it’s good for health. It’s good to be healthy, yes? Everybody needs to be how ever they feel best, that’s what I think.”
