Mariah Carey wishes she had done a better job performing Jackson 5’s biggest hit, “I’ll Be There,” at Michael Jackson’s memorial Tuesday at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.
In a post on her Twitter page, the singer (who wore a black Jenny Packham gown to the service) says she was just too overcome with emotion. As Carey sang the song with frequent collaborator Trey Lorenz, photos of Jackson flashed on a huge screen above them.
“Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me,” writes Carey. “I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.”
“One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people. He inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts,” she adds.

Flo Anthony, a Jackson family insider, tells THE INSIDER that celebrity guests at Michael Jackson’s memorial may include Beyonce and Whitney Houston and that Mariah Carey will sing her cover of Michael’s classic, “I’ll Be There.”
She adds that she’s spoken to Tito Jackson, among others inside the family compound, where she will travel later today. As for Michael’s children, Flo says they are also there at the Encino, CA, home.

Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon denies the superstar has taken a swipe at Eminem in her latest music video by dressing as the rapper – insisting she wouldn’t waste her time.
Carey trades in her usual glamorous look to dress as a thuggish man in the promo for new single Obsessed – in which her male persona has a striking resemblance to the Stan hitmaker.
Internet gossips presumed the Hero singer used the video to hit back at Eminem after he boasted of bedding the star in his track Bagpipes from Baghdad.
But Carey’s partner, actor/rapper Cannon, is adamant she wasn’t planning to take aim at the controversial hip-hop star with her cross-dressing video.
He tells MTV.com, “Honestly, I don’t think so. I don’t think that she would take her time. My wife doesn’t beef. She’s Mariah Carey. She’s not beefin’, she’s a vegetarian. I always say I thought the record was about me, ’cause I’m obsessed with my wife. But if somebody’s out there and you feel like you might have been obsessed, then the record’s about you.”

Scary!
Mariah Carey surprised the fans and crew around her as she did a little bit of cross-dressing outside the Plaza Hotel in New York City, New York June 29, 2009. Carey dressed as a chauffeur, but the best was when the beautiful singer came out as an Eminem look a like during the filming of her new music video “Obsessed”, which happens to be featured on Mimi’s soon-to-be released album called “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel”. The track is in response to Eminem’s recent lyrical attacks of Miss Carey and her hubby, Nick Cannon.

Despite a report on PerezHilton.com that said Mariah Carey kept everyone waiting for her for a Macy’s commercial shoot, Martha Stewart has taken to her official Twitter page to defend the singer.
She writes: “by the way mariah did not keep us waiting as reported by perez hilton the shoo[t] is on schedule thanks to [director Barry] sonnenfeld’s complete command.”
Perez’s sources had said that Mariah had pulled a diva turn by keeping fellow celebs Martha, Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson waiting for her by being hours late to the shoot.

Although the serious plans for starting a family with wife Mariah Carey are still a few months away, Nick Cannon already has a clear idea of the kind of father he’ll be.
“I want to be a father that’s all about love,” Cannon tells People. “That’s the main thing to get right and at the end of the day it’s just about smothering my children with love. The same way I do to my wife!”
Along with being a cuddly and doting dad, Cannon, 28, says he will be goofy. “I will probably be the fun dad because I’m silly,” he says. “I’m always trying to have a good time and always doing funny and stupid stuff.”
As for when that day will arrive, the Drumline star says he and Carey, 40, who got married in April 2008, have a timeline set.
“We had our first year and enjoyed it. This year for us is about establishing everything and creating a household,” he says. “So when we do welcome a child, it will be in a very comfortable established home. So we are working on that and once this year calms down, then we’ll probably start taking about it more seriously. That’s a priority, and it’s not just a quick decision.”
A Busy Summer
Indeed, Cannon has a busy summer schedule as the new host of NBC’s hit show America’s Got Talent, premiering on June 23. As host, Cannon will show off his stand-up comedy roots and says he will be “bringing more swag” to his role. “I’m bringing out the cool, sexy, corny and goofy side of me. And I’m trying to be the best-dressed man on television,” he says. “I’m so fashion crazy that I got to take full advantage and be suited and booted in every episode.”
As for Cannon’s wife, she thinks taking the reins as host will be perfect and a natural fit for him. “She sees how crazy and silly I act around the house and she’s like, ‘if you are doing any of that stuff,’ then it’s going to work.” He adds, “I’m always running around the house singing out of pitch at the top of my lungs and dancing around. So whatever I can do to make people smile and have a good time, I do it at home and on the show.”
And when Cannon does start a family, will he want his children to follow mom and dad into show business?
“I would love it, but I’m not going to be one of those stage daddies where its like, ‘Get out there and sing!’” he says. “I won’t be that kind of dad. I want them to do whatever they love and if they love, that will definitely, make me happy. But at the same time I want to raise some doctors and astronauts. Well maybe they can be singing doctors!”
