Mariah Carey has blasted reports she has fallen out with Janet Jackson and stalled a planned duet, insisting the collaboration was nothing more than a “concept” by producer Jermaine Dupri.

According to Dupri, who is Jackson’s boyfriend, the two pop divas have been planning to team up for years – but Carey insists that’s not the case. She says, “That was Jermaine’s concept… I love J.D., he’s like my brother but he makes these things up and he gets an idea and then he tells the world.”

Pop superstar Mariah Carey’s Sunday night dash from New York to Los Angeles was a slightly hairy experience – thanks to an airplane mishap.

The singer had to race back from the Big Apple after replacing Janet Jackson on TV show Saturday Night Live to finish work on her new album in L.A. But Carey missed her first plane and there wasn’t another one for hours.

She explains, “There was something weird with the plane (and) everyone was waiting there for hours and hours.” Carey eventually landed a private flight – on a faulty plane. She adds, “We missed the plane and then they gave me a plane without a door… You buy stock in these things, you expect them to be good.”

Pop diva Mariah Carey denies she has loose sexual morals, instead likening herself to wholesome nanny Mary Poppins.

The Hero star knows she is portrayed as a “ditzy moon” by the media but insists she has high morals when it comes to dating. The 37-year-old says, “It’s a dichotomy, I understand. I understand that people think I’m a ditzy moron.”

The once-married superstar, who has been romantically linked with Yankees captain Derek Jeter and rapper Eminem, warns fans they’d be wrong to think of her as promiscuous, insisting she’s never even had a one-night stand.

She says, “I’m Mary Poppins: I’m what the buttoned-up girls are supposed to be.”

Marilyn Monroe-obsessed Mariah Carey recently received a special gift from funnyman Adam Sandler, a replica of the movie icon’s ‘leaning board’.

Sandler heard the pop superstar, who owns Monroe’s piano, was looking for a film prop similar to the one her heroine used for costume changes on movie sets – and realized he had one.

The comedian gave Carey the board as a thank-you to her for appearing in his new film You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.

Carey says, “When actresses of the day had to be sewn into costumes they had to use a leaning board. “Adam had one from an old movie and I really liked it, so he had another one made in pink and sent to me.”

Janet Jackson may be waylaid while recovering from the flu, but the show will go on – with Mariah Carey.

Carey, 37, will replace Jackson on Saturday Night Live this weekend after Jackson, 41, fell ill Monday night. “They wanted her for 10 years,” says a rep for Carey. “It’s going to be hot!”

The Grammy-winning songbird will join host Jonah Hill for her first appearance on the show in more than a decade. Carey will perform tracks from her upcoming album E=MC2, which will be released April 15.

With Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez having just given birth, and Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie — among others — due to give birth later this year, it seems like everyone in Hollywood is pregnant these days. Everyone but one — Mariah Carey says kids aren’t in the cards for her just yet.

“Obviously, having a kid is a commitment for life,” she tells satellite radio show Yo on E!. “I really would have to be very, very positive that I was in a place where I could completely focus and put everything into the job of being someone’s mommy, because it’s hard enough to have a puppy.”

The Grammy-winning songstress, who’s been dating record producer Mark Sudack since 2003, prefers to focus on her career. Her 11th studio album, E=MC2, is due on April 15, and the first single, “Touch My Body,” is already heating up airwaves.

Anticipation for the disc is great after Mariah experienced a career renaissance with her last album, The Emancipation of Mimi. The LP was the best-selling album of 2005, an achievement few predicted after the dual film/album bomb that was Glitter, but Mariah says the key was never losing hope in herself or God.

“I never lost my faith in God and that’s the main thing,” she says. “For me it’s about my personal relationship with God and just feeling centered and just not letting anything really penetrate that.”

In the midst of the Glitter debacle, Mariah, now 38, also experienced a nervous breakdown and sought professional help, not much unlike the personal trials Britney Spears has had of late. So does she think Brit can make a comeback like she did?

“I think anybody who loves music and is committed to the game can do whatever,” she says. “I never count people out, that’s just not in my nature but that is a part of human nature — people like to do that. But with me, especially with making this new record, it’s all about the music.”

Indeed it is all about the music and not about the gossip — Mariah laughs off tabloid talk and gossip about her, asserting that it is “not in my character” to be a hard-partying, drug-taking animal. And those suicide and plastic surgery rumors? Nothing more than that.

“Nobody could get me to that point [of suicide] because I have too much respect for God and for life,” she says. “One of the rumors I just heard about was that $150,000 in plastic surgery. What in the ham sandwich do they think I did? It’s very annoying.”

Mariah also touched on the subject of politics. With all the public celebrity stumping for candidates, Mariah says she chooses to remain private about her vote, but still lets everyone know it’s Barack Obama she’s supporting.

“Yes we can!” she says.

I was listening to the radio the other day in my car with my boys (who are 7 & 5). I wasn’t really paying attention to the song, until I heard my youngest giggling in the back seat. I looked at him in the rear-view mirror, and asked him what was so funny. He says, “Hehe, she says ‘touch my body’”. So now I can’t listen to it without thinking of my 5 year old. That one’s gonna be trouble!
