Marcia Cross became a mom on Tuesday, welcoming fraternal twin daughters, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

The girls, Eden and Savannah, who were born at a Los Angeles hospital, are the first children for the Desperate Housewives actress, 44, and her stockbroker husband Tom Mahoney, 49, who married in June 2006.

“Mother and babies are all doing well,” says Cross’s rep, Heidi Slan.

Marcia Cross gets out of bed long enough to visit UCLA for a Dr’s appointment.  Her twins are due in April.

Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross is desperately trying to find something to wear to the Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 15 because she’s heavily pregnant with twins. The 44-year-old first-time mom is due to give birth this spring and is nominated for an award for her role as Bree Van De Camp on the popular TV series.

She explains, “I’m going to the show if I can waddle out of the house. I don’t know what kind of tent they are going to put me in. I’m thinking black or navy. It’s not going to be a high-fashion year for me. And I’m thinking barefoot. I deserve it!”
