Madonna has renewed an attempt to adopt a two-year-old girl from Malawi - despite learning her family are “not interested”.
The pop superstar is keen to re-home Mercy James who currently resides in the same African country from where she adopted her son David Banda.
It is believed the singer plans to give the child back to her family when she is six. But the family have turned down her offer.
The child’s grandmother, Anaphiri Ngalande, says, “When Mercy is no longer a baby we want her back. I don’t want the money they said they’d give me.”
It is the second time Madonna has tried to adopt the child. Last year, the tot’s uncle John blocked an attempt made by her aides.

The woman who helped raise Madonna’s adopted son David Banda in his native Malawi has died.
Asineti Mwale helped the tot’s father Yohane Banda bring up the child following the death of David’s biological mother shortly after his birth in 2005.
The 60-year-old passed away on Sunday after losing her battle with pneumonia.
Mwale, who was referred to as ‘Mama’ by the Banda family, supported Yohane’s difficult decision to put David in the Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi, where Madonna spotted him when in the country on charity work.
It is also reported she fully championed Madonna’s decision to adopt the tot.
A relative of Banda tells People.com, “Mama Asineti died last night. Burial is tomorrow.”
After the birth of Yohane’s son with new wife Flora earlier this year, Mwale told reporters, “I wish David would come to see me before I die. I hope he will one day come to see his brother.”
The controversial adoption was finalised at Malawi’s High Court in May - 20 months after pop superstar and her husband Guy Ritchie were granted an interim order allowing them to take the baby back to their London home.

Madonna was serenaded by fans when she returned to her home state of Michigan on Sunday to show off her Africa documentary I Am Because We Are.
The pop superstar doesn’t turn 50 until 16 August, but 500 fans sang Happy Birthday to her at the event in Traverse City.
She was joined at the screening by her father Silvio, stepmother Joan, daughter Lourdes, and fellow Michigan native, filmmaker Michael Moore.
Madonna - who grew up nearby - told those who turned out, “You can take the girl out of Michigan but you can’t take Michigan out of the girl. I don’t get here enough. It’s great to be bringing my movie to a place that feels familiar.”

He’s the youngest member of the Ritchie brood, but on July 20, Madonna and Guy’s 2-year-old adopted son, David, became a big brother when his birth father, Yohane, and his now wife, Flora, welcomed a new son.
“It’s too early to say if he looks like David,” says Yohane, who wants the two brothers to meet. “I’m confident they will,” he reveals. “It’s my duty as their father to make sure they know about each other and respect and help each other.” Yohane hasn’t named his new son yet.

Madonna’s publicist has shot down reports the pop star and husband Guy Ritchie are planning to renew their wedding vows.
An article in British tabloid The Sun suggested the couple will remarry in a Kabbalah ceremony next month, which will coincide with Madonna’s 50th birthday celebrations.
But the singer’s longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg insists the story is bogus.
She says, “It’s complete fiction.”
