Madonna is going to play live on the internet

Madonna

Madonna’s return to live shows will be beamed around America on the internet.

The pop superstar has confirmed she’ll play a one-off show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on April 30th, and the gig will be broadcast live to U.S. viewers on MSN.com.

The concert will be re-broadcast on May 15th for the rest of the world.

Tickets for the show will not be pre-sold; customers of U.S. communications giant Verizon will be able to compete for many of the tickets and other potentially lucky fans will need to line up outside the Roseland to receive tickets on a first come basis.

The concert will mark the first time Madonna has performed songs from her hotly anticipated new album Hard Candy, which is released on April 29th.

Malawi lawyers trying to block Madonna adoption

Madonna

Madonna faces opposition from a group of civil rights lawyers in Malawi who are fighting to block her adoption of two-year-old tot David Banda. Activists in the country are demanding a change in the law to prevent foreign adoptions, fearing Madonna’s case could open the floodgates and encourage Westerners to flock there in search of prospective adoptive children.

The adoption of baby David sparked global controversy, with many children’s rights groups accusing the star of taking advantage of the poor nation.
Madonna and her director husband Guy Ritchie filed a motion at Malawi’s High Court to delay the couple’s forthcoming adoption hearing until the end of April, because it clashed with the singer’s promotional duties for hew new album Hard Candy.

The Hollywood stars appear to have won over Malawian officials with their parenting skills and a judge is expected to formally approve the adoption during the next court date.
But a group of civil rights lawyers are determined to fight the court’s decision.

Lawyer Justin Dzonzi says, “We have a number of preliminary issues which need to be resolved before the adoption can go ahead.”

The couple brought David back to Britain from Malawi in 2006 and have been fighting to keep custody of him ever since.

Madonna’s home town wants her to come home

Madonna

Every one deserves a second chance, and in this case, it’s the town of Bay City, Michigan, which has asked it’s most famous native, Madonna, to accept the key to the city, two decades after it first refused her the honor.

Mayor Charles M. Brunner has written a letter inviting the material girl, who grew up in Bay City and the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills, to accept a key to the city.

“We’ve always been proud of your accomplishments but recently your induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reminded us that we need to honor you with the highest honor that Bay City can offer,” the letter reads.

Madonna was considered for the honor back in 1985, but some thought she was too controversial–so much so in fact, that in the late 1980s, the city even refused to accept a sculpture of Madonna from an Italian artist, citing a belief that her popularity would fade in time.

President of the Bay Arts Council, Guy Greve, wants now to commission an artist to sculpt a statue of the singer. But is this a case of too little, too late?

As of Monday night, according to the AP, calls to Madonna’s publicist had not been returned.

“The local arts council would like to pay homage for her artistic contributions,” Greve said. “I could see a sculpture of her in Bay City. One of Madonna’s famous poses could be made into a sculpture.”

City Commissioner Christopher J. Shannon, who fronts a local rock band, is planning a Madonna tribute album. He hopes to recruit local musicians to cover hits such as ”Like a Virgin” and ”Express Yourself.”

Madonna’s new album, Hard Candy, will be released April 29th.

Madonna to adopt an Indian child?

Madonna is reportedly considering adopting a baby from India.

The 49-year-old decided to extend her family following a trip to the country in December.

She and husband Guy Ritchie met Bollywood choreographer Sandip Soparrkar – who has also adopted an Indian baby.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “Madonna was very taken with Sandip. He told her there were orphans who would melt her heart. Guy was against the idea, but when she wants something, she gets it.”

The star already has an adopted son, two-year-old David Banda, from Malawi, and two biological children, Lourdes, 11, and seven-year-old Rocco.

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown is ready to tell-all in his new book, Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But. The scandal ridden singer, who divorced from his supertsar wife Whitney Houston last year, said that he was intimate with her Madgesty before he got serious with Whitney.

He said, “By the time I reached my third single on the Don’t Be Cruel album, I was one of the biggest stars in the world. You know what that means.. “With success comes the women!” A wise man once told me that. At this time, I probably had dated half of the industry including Madonna.”

“I met Madonna early in my career. She used to open up shows for New Edition in New York at the beginning of her career,” he continued, “So running back into her and getting to know her better at the height of my success was like a reunion.
