“Mad Men” just released this brand new poster for the highly anticipated return of their hit show. Season 5 is set to return March 25 after a long hiatus!

The new poster shows the silhouette of a man falling out of the sky, and the premiere date. Honestly, I didn’t think anything of this poster when I saw it – in the opening sequence of Mad Men, there’s a man falling out of the sky. No big deal!

Well apparently some viewers are comparing the poster to images of 9/11. What!?

As one of the most highly anticipated season premieres of the year, AMC announced today that the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama Mad Men will be back with a two-hour Season 5 Premiere on Sun., Mar. 25 at 9pm ET/PT. Written by Matthew Weiner and directed by Jennifer Getzinger, the season premiere episode will also be available on AMCtv.com the Monday after air.

Following the premiere, on Sun., Apr. 1, Mad Men will return to its regular timeslot at 10pm ET/PT with an episode written by Erin Levy and Matthew Weiner and directed by Jon Hamm.

Season 5 of ‘Mad Men’ is finally getting ready to premiere, in 2012, much later than previous seasons.

Matthew Weiner, creator and writer of the hit show, says he already knows how the show will end at the end of season 7! Weiner sat down with Grantland.com to talk about his struggles with AMC – and his visions of how the show will end.

It’s not over yet – we have three more seasons of ‘Mad Men’ coming up – and the series will come to a close at the end of season 7. The last episode, Weiner says, will be more than just a look back at the show’s history.

“I do know how the whole show ends,” he told the site. “It came to me in the middle of last season. I always felt like it would be the experience of human life. And human life has a destination. It doesn’t mean Don’s gonna die. What I’m looking for, and how I hope to end the show, is like … It’s 2011. Don Draper would be 84 right now. I want to leave the show in a place where you have an idea of what it meant and how it’s related to you.”

To see Don Draper, still working and trying to sell digital ad space, based on laser-targeted focus group and audience segmentation, would truly be a sight to behold. Of course, one gets the feeling that Weiner is more interested in looking at how the Jon Hamm-portrayed character would have handled the coming decades and changes in his life, not technological changes in his industry.

But it’s not just Don’s arc that concerns Weiner; both the seventh season expiration date, as well as the setting he intends for it, are also opportunities for him to reflect on the job he did with the show, as well as go out on his own terms. Just like one certain little band out of Liverpool did over forty years ago.

“It’s a very tall order, but I always talk about ‘Abbey Road,’” he said, referring of course to the final album The Beatles recorded together (though “Let It Be” would be released after “Abbey Road”). What’s the song at the end of Abbey Road? It’s called ‘The End.’ There is a culmination of an experience of people working at their highest level.”

Given that the series won its fourth straight Best Drama Emmy, Weiner certainly is on pace to end on top.

Here’s something that might shock you. Don Draper and his secretary-turned-wife, aren’t going to last. Well, who actually knows, but I have to believe that somehow – sometime – Don and Betty will be back together. From the looks of these new pictures from the set, Don and his new bride are not getting along very well.

Here’s our first look at season 5 of Mad Men!!! I cannot wait!

Above is a first-look shot from the Mad Men set as Jon Hamm takes on his new role as director of the show’s highly anticipated season premiere. The series, which resumes production in Los Angeles and returns next year, landed the outstanding drama award at the TV critics press club awards on Saturday, with Hamm earning individual achievement in a drama series.

One of my biggest pet peeves is shows that cling on waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long, overstaying their welcome (Desperate Housewives!?). I can appreciate a show being taken off the air before things get strange (Nip/Tuck). So I understand the need to end ‘Mad Men‘ before it gets to that point. I’m just sad to see there IS an end date. I want it to go on forever – perfectly!

With the contentious, near-fatal contract negotiations between “Mad Men” creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner and AMC finally resulting in a new, three season contract, a timeline for the Emmy-winning show’s completion was set. It’s longer than Weiner originally envisioned, but the important part, star Jon Hamm says, is that the show will indeed end. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I think it should end. Everything should end. I was a big fan of ‘The Office’ over here because it ended,” he told the BBC in a new interview. And though the show is affording him his first opportunity to direct — he’ll helm the first episode of the fifth season, set to debut in January — he has no clue. at this point, what he’ll actually be directing.

“I don’t think they exist,” he said of the season five scripts. “The way Matthew writes the show is very organically. He starts when he starts and eventually there are scripts but I certainly haven’t seen them.”

In the meantime, Hamm can enjoy the trappings of his recent ascent to stardom. That includes visits to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner — and some laughs at the expense of Donald Trump.

“[Obama] was amazing. And I had kind of the best seat the house because I was sitting sort of right behind Donald Trump’s table,” Hamm said of his visit to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in a recent interview with Conan O’Brien. “And watching that dude who has no problem telling people what to do and giving people trouble, he didn’t take it very well. Laugh!”

So looks like three more seasons!

January Jones lands the cover of the new issue of W Magazine, and on it she definitely looks nothing like her ‘Mad Men‘ character Betty Draper!

The actress opens up about her rise from being a model to becoming a movie star. Interestingly, January originally tried out for the role of Peggy on ‘Mad Men’ (the job went to Elisabeth Moss). Series creator Matthew Weiner had bigger plans for the blonde beauty, giving her the role of Betty Draper instead.

“There was no Betty in the pilot when I auditioned. Matthew Weiner, the creator of the show, had no intention of showing Don Draper’s home life,” she revealed. “I read for Peggy two times—it was between me and Elisabeth Moss, who eventually got the part. At the end of the scene, there was a casual mention that Don was married. Matt went home that night and wrote two scenes that featured Betty. I auditioned a couple of days later, and he made me a verbal promise that the character would grow. I took the part on faith—there was no script or fleshed-out character or Betty plotline.”

After a dramatic, public back and forth, Weiner and carrier AMC reached a deal for three more seasons, meaning Jones will once get to play the part for a good while longer. She’s also set to star in this summer’s “X-Men: First Class,” playing the role of Emma Frost.

“I’m a villain. As Emma Frost I’m telepathic, and I can turn into a diamond, which means I’m very, very cold,” Jones said. “I always wear white: lots of iridescent stretch leather, lots of sparkle, and ass-kicking white boots.”

Can you imagine January as Peggy!? What a mess that would have been! Further proof that Matthew is a genius.

After a turbulent week, looks like ‘Mad Men‘ creator Matthew Weiner and AMC have finally come to an agreement that would keep him with the show for three more years, thank God! Can you imagine ‘Mad Men’ without it’s creator!?

According to The Huffington Post, the deal is worth a reported $25-$30 million.

“I want to thank all of our wonderful fans for their support,” Weiner said in a statement. “I also want to thank AMC and Lionsgate for agreeing to support the artistic freedom of myself, the cast and the crew, so that we can continue to make the show exactly as we have from the beginning. I’m excited to get started on the next chapter of our story.”

A source close to the show outlined to The Huffington Post the outcome of the negotiation’s areas of dispute:

AMC dropped its demand for a $1.5 million per season budget cut; the preserved money means in part that Weiner will no longer be required to cut two significant actors per season. Instead, characters will be cut if it suits the show creatively.

The network insisted that the show cut two minutes per episode for more advertising time; the contract calls for the first and last episode of the show to be the normal 47 minutes. For episodes 2-11, they will initially air as 45 minute episodes, and Weiner’s “Final Cut” will be available digitally 8 days later.

Additionally, product integration policy will remain the same; AMC had wanted more transparency in placements, requesting the ability for companies to publicize that their products appeared on the show.

The source emphasized that Weiner has full creative control of the show. It will begin again in March, 2012; AMC has a full slate of summer and fall shows and had always intended to start “Mad Men” later than it had hit airwaves in seasons past.

So basically Matthew got everything he was asking for! Good job! Only thing that seems weird to me is the “Final Cut” episode that will air digitally 8 days later. So that means that if we wait 8 days we’ll get to see 2 more minutes of Mad Men? Sucks they can’t just air it all at once. I know I’m not going to want to watch it again 8 days later for just 2 more minutes. Strange. Other than that – I’m just glad everyone is getting along again!
