Britney Spears: The movie?

Lynne Spears

Britney Spears’ rise to stardom and subsequent descent into pop wreckdom may be turned into a Hollywood movie - if the singer’s mother Lynne has her way.

According to insiders, Lynne is convinced that her recently-published memoir Through The Storm will be a hit on the big screen.

“She’s pitching the book around to studios,” says a source close to the Spears matriarch.

It’s been reported that rising star Anna Faris is in the frame to play Britney, but Lynne has another - less obvious - choice in mind.

The source tells The Sun that “she even says she wants Julia Roberts to play her. It’s insane!”

Lynne Spears: “I had to do what I had to do.”

wenn51740351.jpg

On daughter Britney Spears, Lynne points to the media as a source of the singer’s troubles, “Is it human nature to want to build somebody up so very, very big, and then actually enjoy tearing them to pieces? I want her to remember back when she was the happiest person she could be, and be that person. She’s almost there now.”

Lynne says her daughter Jamie Lynn broke the news to her that she was pregnant by writing her a note. “I blew it,” she says about her reaction — after first thinking it was a joke — but then faced the challenge head-on: “We got the biggest blessing through the toughest time.”

Lynne’s new book, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, tells a mother’s story of keeping her faith and keeping her family together. Lynne also gets candid about both her successes and her failures, “I didn’t feel very strong,” she says. “All I knew was at certain points I had to do what I had to do.”

On her role in her daughters’ careers, “I’m more or less a cheerleader,” she says. “Did I ever manage my children? No. Did I ever take any percentages of anything they ever did? No, I did not. I really don’t know how to do these things.”

Ultimately, after all her family’s been through, she says, “I just pray for smoother sailing.”

Lynne Spears thought Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy was a joke

Jamie Lynn & Lynne Spears

Britney Spears’ mom started to chuckle when she first learned her 16-year-old daughter Jamie Lynn was pregnant - because she thought it was a joke.

Lynne Spears has revealed the teenage actress handed her a note and told her to read it alone in the bathroom of the family’s home. It was the first time Spears realised her little girl was having a baby with her boyfriend Casey Aldridge - but she initially refused to believe what she read.

In an interview on Today show on Wednesday, Spears said, “I thought it was a joke… I kept waiting for the punchline.”

But the matriarch quickly realized it was no laughing matter when Aldridge refused to look at her as she came out of the bathroom.

She added, “I was just truly in shock and then I started to cry. And then she (Jamie Lynn) started consoling me at that point.”
The youngest Spears revealed she was pregnant in an interview in December. Lynne Spears details the day she learned all about the pregnancy, as well as other family highs and lows, in her new book Through The Storm.

Lynne Spears: Britney’s ‘breakdown was triggered by depression’

Lynne Spears

Britney Spears’ mother Lynne has attributed her daughter’s recent break-down to post-natal depression.

The pop star was hospitalized at the beginning of the year under a mental health order following months of bizarre behavior. And Lynne Spears insists that the singer’s problems began after she gave birth to her two children, Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two.

But the star’s mental health deteriorated further when she split from her husband Kevin Federline in November 2007, leading to a downward spiral in her personal and professional life.

Lynn writes in her forthcoming book Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, “Having two children within a year of each other would be overwhelming for any woman. She had post-natal depression.

“Added to her broken-hearted spirit over the end of her marriage to Kevin and the enormous pressures of her career, it brought her to breaking point. It was hard for me to believe this much-loved daughter was enduring such pain and I couldn’t be there to help her heal. I felt hopeless.”

Lynne Spears: ‘I’m not a pushy mother’

Lynne Spears

Britney Spears’ mother Lynne has blasted her image as a “pushy stage mother” and insisted she never wanted her daughter to be a superstar.

Spears senior has been accused of driving Britney’s career - starting with her big break on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club. But Lynne insists the 26-year-old pushed herself from a young age.

She writes in her forthcoming book Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, “Britney was always highly motivated to excel. I’m always startled when I hear folks think I’m a pushy stage mother. I simply did not have the huge ambitions for her that I have been accused of having.”

Jamie Lynn Spears gives mom’s book the thumbs up

Jamie Lynn & Lynne Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears brought her mother Lynne to tears after reading her new book Through The Storm - because she loved it.

The Spears family matriarch admits her eldest kids Britney and Bryan have yet to read her memoirs, but she’s thrilled her youngest daughter likes what she has read.

She says, “Jamie Lynn loved the book. I started to cry because I told her, ‘I wanted so much for you to like it.’ And she got up and kissed me on the cheek and said, ‘Mama, thank you so much.’”

And Spears admits that writing the book has also helped her mend her relationship with pop superstar Britney: “We are back to four or five phone calls a day.”

Lynne Spears: ‘Every mother makes mistakes’

Lynne Spears

Lynne Spears says that even knowing what she knows now, she would still let her daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn pursue stardom.

“I think you have to let them follow their dreams,” she says in a new interview with People. “I think it would be worse in the end if you didn’t.”

But she does express regrets about not listening to her “gut” at times: “Was I the perfect mom? No.”

In an exclusive excerpt from her new memoir, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, Lynne, 53, details the highs – and lows – of her family’s journey from Kentwood, La., to the harsh international spotlight. “Every mother makes mistakes,” she writes, “and I’m no different.”

“I wanted the truth out in my own words for myself and my family,” she tells People of writing the book, which chronicles Britney’s highly publicized troubles and Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy at 16. The latter, says Lynne, “was probably the hardest time in my life.”

What do her kids – Britney, 26, Jamie Lynn, 17, and Bryan, 31 – think of the book?

She says Britney and Bryan have yet to read it, but “Jamie Lynn loved the book. I started to cry because I told her, ‘I wanted so much for you to like it.’ And she got up and kissed me on the cheek and said, ‘Mama, thank you so much.’”

Lynne’s once-troubled relationship with Britney “has undergone tremendous healing,” she says. “We are back to four or five phone calls a day.”

These days Lynne is also a doting “Me Maw” to her grandsons Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, and granddaughter Maddie Briann, 2 months. Of Britney’s boys, she says, “They are the cutest! The biggest personalities you’ve ever seen. Preston is the older brother and he’s protective, but Jayden is tough as nails.”
